Most people have been on a horrendous date or two in their lives. Maybe the guy conveniently left his wallet at home, or you made reservations at a steakhouse before finding out your date’s a vegetarian. But no matter how many boring or awkward nights you’ve been forced to endure, you can probably say that no one ever forced you to find a babysitter just so you can sit next to them during a class or tort reform or some similarly boring BS. The photo above was posted on Derick Dillard’s Instagram page on Wednesday. He captioned the pic: “Glad my favorite study buddy @jillmdillard was able to come to class yesterday! You’ve gotta find alone time (no kids) whenever you can! Thanks @jessaseewald for babysitting!” Yes, Derick Dillard is in law school these days, and since men of the Duggar clan don’t do anything without the help of their women, he apparently brings Jill to class with him. Because every harried stay-at-home mom who homeschools her kids dreams of getting a night off so that she can sit there and take notes for her husband. Commenters on the pic were understandably curious as to why in the hell Derick would drag Jill along on such an incredibly lame “date.” The most likely answer, of course, is that Jesus instructed him to bore the hell out of his wife. As you may recall Derick has claimed that God wants him to go to law school . Presumably, this is so that he can fight for school children to be taught that the Earth is 6,000 years old and Jesus invented the AR-15 while feeding his brontosaurus. Anyway, Duggar men are taught from a young age that God wants them to be obscenely wealthy and if they’re faithful enough, he’ll set them on the path to fame and fortune. (Kind of goes against the many passages in the Bible in which Jesus condemns those who amass large amounts of wealth, but that’s a conversation for another time.) Conversely, Duggar women are told that their role in life is to be submissive and do as they’re told. Their purpose on this planet, according to the Duggars’ brand of fundamentalism, is to help their husbands get rich. And so, if Derick wants Jill to help him take notes in class, she would likely see that as her divinely-ordained duty. So we guess that her date nights will look a lot like this for the next few years. Hopefully, she’ll be able to hold onto that fake smile. Some may say that Modern Family is the funniest show on television. But there will be nothing funny about one of the upcoming storylines on Season 10 of the beloved ABC program. According to co-creator Christopher Lloyd, the first half of the upcoming season will feature a significant character death. That’s certainly something new for the series. “We’re handling some bigger life events in this season,” Lloyd told Entertainment Weekly today, adding as a tease: “We do deal with a death, which is certainly a topic that families have to deal with, and on television, it’s not easy to do because that’s a heavy subject. But at the same time, it would seem unusual for a family not to go through it.” As you might expect, Lloyd isn’t about to divulge the identity of the corpse. But he does say that it will “significant character on the series” and the death “will be a moving event – and an event that has repercussions across several episodes.” Modern Family stars Ed O’Neill, Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Ariel Winter, Sarah Hyland, Rico Rodriguez, Nolan Gould and Aubrey Anderson-Emmon. It has maintained the same cast throughout its duration on the air. It also set a record by winning five straight Outstanding Comedy Series Emmy Awards. The sitcom is heading into its final contractual season, meaning this very well could be the show’s final season. Lloyd, however, hopes this won’t be the case. “There’s goodwill on both sides to make it happen, but there’s also complicated matters that have to get worked through, and there’s a time constraint on it, because we can’t have it take too long,” he says. “I’m hoping that that doesn’t make the whole thing go away, but I think there’s a decent chance we’ll see it happen.” Lloyd continued as follows: “From our standpoint creatively we’ve gotten excited writing this season and changing the lives of the characters – some in a significant way – and it’s made us think, ‘Wow, there’s a lot to explore in the lives of these characters.’ “They’re in many ways such different characters than they were five or 10 years ago when we started and they’re just as interesting and just as funny. So our standpoint was, ‘Well, if we can do another season, we may as well.’ “I’m hoping that we have some news on that [soon], and if it winds up that we tried and just couldn’t make it work, we will have a great final season for sure.” Modern Family Season 10 premieres on Wednesday, September 26 at 9/8c. Our best guess is that Phil’s father, played by the amazing Fred Willard, is the one who kicks the proverbial bucket. As for what else fans can expect from upcoming episodes? He told EW the following: “There is a significant change in the dynamics of the family that people maybe thought was going to happen at some point down the line that is happening sooner than expected.”

O marosa Manigault Newman had another public meltdown on Wednesday. The former Trump aide hurled insults and referred to a host as a “b***h” on a SiriusXM radio show, a video revealed. The madness happened during an interview on SiriusXM Urban View, and is available on a clip posted by host Clay Cane . “In trying to interview Omarosa, she insulted my hair, called me ignorant, gutter and a b***h. She clearly picked up Trump’s habits,” Cane tweeted. Manigault Newman, who has been on a tell-all about Trump in recent weeks, told Cane that he was “screaming” and had “lost control of his show,” according to the clip posted on Twitter. Additionally, Manigault Newman also refused to talk about Trump or the administration’s heavily criticized interactions with communities of color at the National Association of Black Journalists convention last August. The ex-Trump aide, who appeared on “The Apprentice,” continues to be at the center of dramatic events. It’s important to know that #BlackExcellence means many things for many different people. For some, it means being a good sport in spite of monumental resistance and ridicule. Take Serena Williams for example. Here’s a woman who’s had to endure every racist and sexist comment in the book during her tennis career, yet she still manages to be one of the greatest athletes of all time with countless Grand Slam wins. Many say Williams had to combat racism and sexism AGAIN at the U.S. Open final on Saturday when she played Naomi Osaka. According to The New York Times , Serena received a code violation when the chair umpire accused her of getting sideline instruction from her coach Patrick Mouratoglou. However, Serena vehemently denied that she cheated by getting instructions from her coach. Later, Serena lost a point playing Osaka and out of anger, she smashed her tennis racket. The umpire cited another code violation because of this and since it was her second, Serena lost a whole point. Her frustration at the umpire built and she demanded an apology for saying she cheated in the first place. But the umpire didn’t seem to budge. Eventually, Serena called him a “thief” for taking a point from her and with this remark, the umpire gave her a third code violation. Many people, including Serena herself, said that men have made far worse remarks to umpires, yet they don’t get penalized. Serena eventually lost the game to Osaka, but she remained a good sport. She congratulated Osaka and even comforted her when she started to cry because people were booing in the audience. One Black woman supporting another Black woman in spite of BS? #BlackExcellence at its finest. On top of all this, Osaka still played an amazing game, giving her #BlackExcellence kudos as well. And don’t think Serena is going to keep quiet about the double standard between men and women in tennis. She made a final statement to the press saying she wouldn’t stop fighting for women’s equality. Check out her tear-jerking inspirational words starting at the 8:38 mark below! Last week I headed to Mexico City, Mexico so sit down with the cast of The Nun. The latest story told from The Conjuring Universe. This movie dives into the nun we saw during The Conjuring 2 movie. This was one of the scariest interviews I ever did as we did the interview in an abandoned convent in the mountains of Mexico, called “Ex Convento Desierto de los Leones.” The 400-plus year-old building is difficult to get to, there is a giant wall protecting the former home to the Carmelita, one road that leads up to the structure. I explored the underground catacombs to help the nuns and ended up sitting down with Taissa Farmiga and Demian Bichir to discuss this horrifying film. The movie starts off with the events that reveal why a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life. That’s when the Vatican orders a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows to investigate if the place is still holy. What they uncover is unholy secret in the form of a demonic nun. As in all horror movies, the characters make a lot of questionable decisions so I asked them if they questioned some of the actions they made in the film. We also had a little bit of fun as I tested Demian and Taissa on their knowledge of the Gods of Hip Hop. U God, Charlamange the God and The God Emcee himself, Jay Z.
