The Bachelor’s Brad Womack and Emily Maynard: Will They Last?

If nothing else, The Bachelor season finale was certainly a memorable one. As is often the case, the After the Final Rose special provided many of the fireworks. Just minutes after Brad Womack’s swoon-worthy proposal to Emily Maynard, viewers learned about his terrible temper – and that they briefly parted ways. They’re back together now, but Brad “couldn’t speak for Emily” when Chris asked if they’re still engaged. Never a good sign. She’s also NOT moving to Texas. Here’s the awkward ATFR interview that aired post-finale: Brad and Emily: After the Final Rose What do you think? Will Brad and Emily last? Zac Efron Shows Off Physique, New Tattoo

Zanessa may be broken up, but this former couple still has a lot in common. Most recent case in point: Just a couple weeks after Vanessa Hudgens got a new neck tattoo , Zac Efron has been photographed with some new ink of his own. The following image is courtesy of the latest issue of NW, an Australian magazine. If you can take your eyes away from Zac’s ripping six pack for a moment, you’ll see a pair of feathers across his inner bicep: Unfortunately, Hudgens can relate to her ex in another way this week, too: a new round of topless pics of that actress have been leaked online. Yes, again .

Who is Leaking the Vanessa Hudgens Nude Pics?

Yes, a new set of racy Vanessa Hudgens photos really have hit the Internet. No one from the actress’ camp has denied the validity of the images that were first leaked last night. But, no, insiders swear, Hudgens did not snap these images any time in the recent past. They are simply leftover from an incident in 2009, when Vanessa sued a website for posting various shots of her in the buff without her “knowledge or consent.” So, why did a new round of photos emerge? Who is responsible for this scandal? Hudgens reportedly believes someone “has it out for her” because the release of these pictures coincides with her next movie role, as Sucker Punch hits theaters this month. Then again, would a naked picture controversy really damage Vanessa’s box office appeal? It’s impossible to say, but TMZ quotes an insider who vows, in regard to the flap from a few years ago: “Trust me… Vanessa has learned her lesson.” [Photo: WENN.com]

Former WikiLeaks Staffer to Launch Alternative OpenLeaks Today

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — A former staff member of WikiLeaks said he will launch a new alternative website that he promises will be more transparent than WikiLeaks. Daniel Domscheit-Berg, the former deputy to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange says he will launch Openleaks ( www.openleaks.org ) Monday in an effort to aid anonymous sources expose sensitive information to the public eye. As of this morning, the website displays nothing more than the Openleaks logo with the message “Coming soon!” The new website will be launched on Monday from its Germany headquarters as part of a board of directors-run, undisclosed foundation, said reporter Jesper Huor in a documentary by Swedish broadcaster SVT that will be aired on Sunday. “Openleaks is a technology project that is aiming to be a service provider for third parties that want to be able to accept material from anonymous sources,” Domscheit-Berg said in interviews conducted in Berlin. Domscheit-Berg said he left WikiLeaks after a falling out with Assange over the lack of transparency in the organization's decision-making process. In an interview with OWNI technology website, Domscheit-Berg declined to further elaborate on his dispute with Wikileaks but said that “in these last months, the organization has not been open any more, it lost its open-source promise.” He added that Openleaks intends on providing a vehicle to publish leaked materials without taking on a publisher role itself. “If you preach transparency to everyone else you have to be transparent yourself. You have to fulfill the same standards you expect from others, and I think that's where we've not been heading in the same direction philosophically anymore,” said Domscheit-Berg in the documentary. Domscheit-Berg said he had issues with the way WikiLeaks handled larger leaks, including the 400,000 classified US war files from Iraq and 76,000 from Afghanistan from earlier this year. He said that it would have been wiser for WikiLeaks to publish these documents “slowly, step by step, to grow the project.” The launch of Openleaks comes after mounting speculation about the existence of copycat sites of the controversial site. Meanwhile, both WikiLeaks and Assange continue to face pressure after the site published 250,000 secret US diplomatic cables last month. Financial institutions such as Swiss Postfinance, Mastercard, Visa and Pay Pal have cut off the means for people to send donations to WikiLeaks, while Assange has been imprisoned in the UK and faces extradition to Sweden on sex crime allegations. added by: ras_menelik

Ashton Kutcher Threatens Legal Action Over Brittney Jones Sex Tape

Let’s get one thing straight: Ashton Kutcher does NOT co-star in Brittney Jones Confidential , the sex tape his alleged mistress is set to release on December 14. But that doesn’t mean the actor is happy with the existence of the video, especially because Vivid Entertainment is referencing Kutcher and Jones’ allegation in its marketing of the amateur adult movie. Don’t worry, Ashton. Brittney’s film can’t make you look any worse than Killers did. In a Vivid press releasing touting the sex tape, the company writes “Ashton’s fans will undoubtedly enjoy seeing what the star himself may have experienced.” Hilarious? Yes. Illegal because it uses the star’s name to sell the porn? Probably, argues Kutcher’s legal team. In a letter sent to Vivid, Ashton’s lawyers claim those behind the release are infringing on the actor’s “marketable celebrity identity value.” We’re pretty sure he killed that himself with Killers , though. These attorneys are threatening to take action unless Vivid stops using their client’s name in association with Brittney Jones.

Lost tiger population discovered in Bhutan mountains

BBC's natural history crew have confirmed the existence of Tigers living at high altitudes around 4000m (13,000ft) were trees are unable to survive. The exact location of the discovery is being kept secret to prevent poachers from hunting the Tigers. “The cameras recorded a wealth of wildlife, including red foxes, jungle cats, monkeys, leopards, Himalayan black bear, tarkin, serow, musk deer and even a red panda. This is the only place on earth known to have tigers, leopard and snow leopards all sharing the same valley. It is remarkable to have these three big cats sharing their range. Most extraordinarily, the cameras took footage of two wild tigers, one male and one female, a discovery that moved Mr Buchanan to tears.”-BBC The cameras were left in remote locations in the mountains for three months and gathered the first pictures of the Bhutan mountain Tigers. With the Tigers roaming in territory this high, conservationists think its a step closer to preserving a tiger corridor to allow Tigers to move and breed across large areas of land. added by: Mcellie

WaPo Slips Liberal Dogma Into Report on Tax Cuts: GOP Trying to ‘Deprive’ Treasury

In general, there are two major sides to the tax cut debate. One believes that Americans are entitled to keep what they earn, but that they cede some money to the government with the understanding that funding is necessary to enable the state to safeguard citizens’ rights – the state’s most fundamental function. The opposing side holds, in short, that Americans are entitled to their wealth only to the extent that the rule of the majority – i.e. the government – allows them to keep it. The Washington Post has apparently adopted and endorsed this latter view, also known as liberal tax policy, not only in its editorial stance, but throughout its “straight news” reporting operation. WaPo reporter Lori Montgomery, for instance, believes that every dollar not collected in taxes is a dollar of which the federal government has been “deprived.” Or, put another way in her Wednesday article, she rejects the notion that every dollar collected in taxes is a dollar of which taxpayers have been deprived: Even as they hammer Democrats for running up record budget deficits, Senate Republicans are rolling out a plan to permanently extend an array of expiring tax breaks that would deprive the Treasury of more than $4 trillion over the next decade, nearly doubling projected deficits over that period unless dramatic spending cuts are made. The measure, introduced by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) this week, would permanently extend the George W. Bush-era income tax cuts that benefit virtually every U.S. taxpayer, rein in the alternative minimum tax and limit the estate tax to estates worth more than $5 million for individuals or $10 million for couples. Aides to McConnell said they have yet to receive a cost estimate for the measure. But the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office recently forecast that a similar, slightly more expensive package that includes a full repeal of the estate tax would force the nation to borrow an additional $3.9 trillion over the next decade and increase interest payments on the national debt by $950 billion. That’s more than four times the projected deficit impact of President Obama’s health-care overhaul and stimulus package combined. The key word in the lede is “deprive.” In order for congressional Republicans to deprive Treasury of tax revenue, the federal government must have either already been collecting that revenue, or it must have been entitled to it. Sympathetic voices will no doubt howl that Montgomery was only noting if the GOP plan passes, the federal government will get less revenue – Treasury will be deprived of tax dollars. But again, that point frames the issue as one of the government’s claims to taxpayers’ wealth, not those taxpayers’ claims to their own wealth. Haven’t the latter been deprived by taxation? We know Treasury has not been taking in this revenue, and much of the confusion about what exactly Congress is debating derives from a failure to grasp this fact. Ed Morrissey explains : The extensions would simply continue the status quo, not deduct revenue the government receives now. These are not tax cuts, as the bill doesn’t change the current tax rates at all. The bill would instead prevent a massive $4 trillion tax increase. The extensions don’t force the government to borrow an additional $4 trillion over the next decade, either. Instead, they could simply cut spending, an option that apparently escapes the imagination of Ms. Montgomery. A freeze at the spending level of the last Republican Congress budget of $2.77 trillion per year (FY2007) could save more than a trillion dollars each year over the next decade. A freeze at the level suggested by John Boehner (FY2008, $3.1 trillion) would save more than $700 billion per year, almost twice as much as Montgomery claims we would need to borrow because of the tax extensions. Since Treasury hasn’t already been taking in this revenue, Montgomery’s use of the word “deprive” implies that Treasury is entitled to it, even if the cash hasn’t been flowing. In other words, she has endorsed the notion that the distribution of wealth is a legitimate function of the federal government, and that citizens only have a secondary claim to their earnings. The Post apparently takes for granted this attitude towards tax cuts. The paper is framing the issue in a manner decidedly more amenable to the Democrat position on tax cuts not in its editorial pages, but among its purportedly-objective news content. Let there be no more doubt concerning the paper’s bias on this issue.

Woody Allen: Religions Are ‘Delusions to Keep Us Going’

Legendary filmmaker Woody Allen recognizes that religion makes people happier, but still views religious faith as a “delusion” worthy of the same respect afforded a fortune cookie. In an interview  published Sept. 15  to promote his upcoming movie, “You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger,” Allen told The New York Times, “This sounds so bleak when I say it, but we need some delusions to keep us going. And the people who successfully delude themselves seem happier than the people who can’t.”  “To me, there’s no real difference between a fortune teller or a fortune cookie and any of the organized religions,” Allen told reporter David Itzkoff. “They’re all equally valid or invalid, really. And equally helpful.” When asked whether he thought reincarnation was more plausible than the existence of God, Allen said, “Neither seems plausible to me. I have a grim, scientific assessment of it. I just feel, what you see is what you get.”   Like this article? Sign up for “Culture Links,” CMI’s weekly e-mail newsletter, by   clicking   here.
