Really?? Chris Conte Says Playing In NFL Is Worth Risking His Life Via NYDailyNews Bears safety Chris Conte knows how dangerous football can be to his life, but he says it is worth it. The 25-year-old defensive back told WBBM Newsradio in Chicago that if living out his dream of playing in the NFL means a shorter life span, then so be it. “As far as after football, who knows? My life will revolve around football to some point, but I’d rather have the experience of playing and, who knows, die 10, 15 years earlier than not be able to play in the NFL and live a long life,” Conte said. “ It’s something I’ve wanted to do with my life and I wanted to accomplish. And I pretty much set my whole life up to accomplish that goal. So I don’t really look toward my life after football because I’ll figure things out when I get there and see how I am.” Concussion awareness is at an all-time high in the NFL and Conte himself has experienced two concussions this season along with plenty of other injuries that has kept him out of at least three games.
