Fox Cancels The X Factor

The X Factor will not mark any spots on the Fox calendar next year: It has been canceled after three seasons. The American Idol-like competition never created a Kelly Clarkson or a Carrie Underwood. Can you name a single champion? Despite big names such as Britney Spears and Demi Lovato behind the judging panel, it never garnered significant ratings, either. The third season finale only drew 6.2 million viewers. “I’ve had a fantastic time over the last 12 years, both on The X Factor and American Idol ,” said executive producer and judge Simon Cowell in a statement, adding: “And apart from being lucky enough to find some amazing talent on the shows, I have always had an incredible welcome from the American public (most of the time!). Last year, for a number of reasons, I had to make a decision to return [for the first time in four years] to the U.K. version of The X Factor in 2014. So for now, I’m back to the U.K. and I want to thank FOX for being an incredible partner and I also want to thank everybody who has supported my shows. America, I’ll see you soon!”

Chris Brown: Officially the Worst Neighbor EVER

Chris Brown is the worst neighbor ever. Anywhere he goes. He’s even a menace on vacation, recently throwing a huge house party with his crew at a rented Hawaiian mansion, enraging neighbors in the process. Brown was in Hawaii last week for a show, and rented a sick pad in Honolulu at $2,450 per night. The first night, its owner received phone call complaints. Chris Brown Twitter Rant The landlord put him on notice , but didn’t give Chris the boot, and maybe he even took the hint, because fortunately, there were no further incidents! Until he got home, and his L.A. neighbors called the cops. Yeah, Chris Brown and noise complaints go together like Chris Brown and hit songs, Chris Brown and graffiti, Chris Brown and Karrueche or Chris Brown and Twitter rants . See above.

Demi Lovato: Down with Twerking!

Twerking has once again come under fire. A couple days after Harry Styles slammed the dance moves as inappropriate for young women, Demi Lovato has also come out against the booty-gyrating sensation. “Can the world stop talking about twerking please?” The X Factor judge Tweeted today, clearly taking a shot at Miley Cyrus … right? Wrong, Demi insists. “Btw – no shade thrown,” she added. “Don’t even try to start that crap. Haha… the term twerking just needs to disappear like the word swag does too…  I just don’t know what happened to the word ‘dancing’…. Can I getta amen?!!” AMEN, Dems! What do YOU think, THGers? Where do you stand on Twerking?   It’s so fun! It’s so lame! It’s so offensive! WHAT-ing?!? View Poll »

Must Be Nice: The Highest Paid Black Actors’ On Television (And Some Notable Others)

Black actors might demand big checks for work on the silver screen, but for TV, not so much… A List Of The Highest Paid Black Actors On TV Via Examiner Simon Cowell an executive producer and co-owner of “The X Factor” and “Got Talent” TV franchises, is ranked at the top of TV Guide’s list of the highest-paid TV stars of 2013. He made $95 million in the past year, according to TV Guide, which made the announcement on Aug. 20, 2013. The full list is in TV Guide’s Aug. 26 to Sept. 1, 2013 issues, which goes on sale on Aug. 22, 2013. Cowell is a judge on “The X Factor” U.S., which airs in the U.S. on Fox. According to TV Guide, Kelly Rowland (who joined “The X Factor” U.S. judging panel in 2013) is the next-highest-paid judge on the show: Her “X Factor” salary is $2.5 million per season. That’s about the same amount that TV Guide says Paula Abdul made as a judge “The X Factor” U.S. in 2011. Abdul lasted one season on the show before she was fired, along with judge Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones. Although TV Guide did not report the salaries of the other two “X Factor” U.S. judges of 2013 (Demi Lovato and Paulina Rubio), the Hollywood Reporter claims that Lovato’s “X Factor” salary was doubled to slightly more than $2 million (compared to her reported $1 million “X Factor” salary in 2012), while Rubio’s “X Factor” salary in 2013 is about $1.5 million. Sharon Osbourne (who is a judge on “The X Factor” U.K.) is also on the list, which ranks the stars’ salaries only for U.S. TV shows. Therefore, only Osbourne’s reported $1 million annual salary for co-hosting CBS’s “The Talk” was included for her inclusion on the list. Osbourne’s “X Factor” U.K. salary is about £1.5 million (or $2.35 million in U.S. dollars), according to the Daily Mirror and The Sun. Cowell and Howard Stern were each tied for No. 1 on Forbes’ 2013 list of highest-paid TV personalities list, which counted the stars’ total salaries from June 2012 to June 2013. Cowell and Stern earned $95 million each in that time period, according to Forbes. Suffice to say, all the folks that are REALLY breaking the bank on television are white, but you can hit the flippy to see where WE rank and just how far African-Americans still have to go in comparison to their paler peers. All salaries listed are per episode with the exception of daytime TV hosts. Images via WENN/Splash Continue reading

Sam Mendes NOT Confirmed to Direct Next Bond Film

Sam Mendes, you’re  killing us! After he insisted he didn’t want to direct any more Bond films, Mendes had reportedly signed on to helm  Bond 24 , and was even working on a deal for  Bond 25 . But, that no longer seems to be the case. During a red carpet event for the opening of his West End theatrical production of  Charlie and the Chocolate Factory , Mendes insisted he’s been too focused on the new play to deal with  Bond . When asked about his involvement with the next Bond film, Mendes said “I don’t know yet. I’m in discussion over the ‘B’ word and I won’t make any decision until this [play] is open.” Regardless of whether Mendes is directing it, we do know that Daniel Craig will return to play 007. We also know about the sexy new Bond girl: Penelope Cruz . That’s good enough for now.
