Last month, a rumor that Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively were headed for divorce made its way across the social media landscape. At the time, the notion seemed somewhat ridiculous. After all, Reynolds and Lively have long enjoyed a reputation as one of Hollywood’s happiest and most stable couples. But to shock and chagrin of fans, reports of Blake and Ryan calling it quits just kept rolling in. “The past few years, Ryan’s been working out of town while Blake stays home with the kids,” a source told Us Weekly. “The distance between them has taken its toll.” Reynolds employed his signature sardonic wit to shoot down the first round of reports: “I wish,” the actor tweeted. “I could use a little ‘me time.'” Fans were relieved, of course, and the controversy was thought to be over and done with. But earlier this week, Lively’s Instagram followers noticed that something was amiss on her page. As Radar Online points out, not only had Lively deleted all photos of Reynolds from her page, she had also unfollowed him and changed her bio so that it read simply: “What happened to Emily?” Adding fuel to the fire, Lively then followed 28 accounts of women named Emily Nelson. And like that, Emily Nelson became 2018’s answer to ” Becky with the good hair .” Fans assumed that Reynolds had been caught cheating and that Lively was determined to get to the bottom of his infidelity by hunting Nelson down. Sadly, this high drama nosedived into a disappointing conclusion today when it was revealed that “Emily Nelson” is merely the name of a character Lively is playing in an upcoming film, Yes, it was all an elaborate promotional stunt. Whenever you roll your eyes about something like this, some smart ass always has to chime in with, “Well, I guess it worked! You’re talking about it, aren’t you?!” Sure. In that sense, it worked. Earlier this week, Tristan Thompson broke his social media silence . The professional basketball player shared his first message on Instagram Sunday night, but he didn’t issue any sort of apology for stepping out on Khloe Kardashian multiple times over the past few months. These actions, of course, include allegedly sleeping with women when Khloe was three months pregnant and then again when she was eight months pregnant. A dam Trammell ’s father is furious that the criminal justice system allowed two cops who repeatedly shocked his mentally ill son with stun guns last year will not face justice. District Attorney John Chisholm found “no basis to conclusively link Mr. [Adam] Trammell’s death to actions taken by police officers.” “This is a nightmare. I can’t believe this. I think those people should resign. The D.A. and the chief of that police department,” said Trammell’s father, Larry Trammell , according to USA Today . Two West Milwaukee police officers who “tortured Adam Trammell to death” will not be charged. Trammell, who was mentally ill, was naked in the shower when police broke down his door, tased him 18 times, broke his rib, and gave him a black eye. https://t.co/ABgDOk6Jf7 — Fair Punishment Project (@FairPunishment) April 27, 2018 The two officers responded to a call on May 25 at the apartment complex where Trammell lived. The cops broke down Trammell’s door and found him naked, taking a shower. Bodycam footage showed Trammell confused but calm when the cops confronted him. The officers used a Taser 15 times over a 30-minute period after he struggled to prevent them from taking him out the shower. Trammell ultimately lost consciousness, and the officers handcuffed him. He wasn’t breathing and had no pulse when the paramedics put him into the ambulance. Trammell was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at the hospital. “These police tortured Adam Trammell to death,” said Robin Shellow , a lawyer representing his family. “This was not ‘help.’ They were not protecting or serving anyone. Naked, cold, confused, alone in his own bathroom and crying for Jesus to take him, he needlessly suffered.” It’s no surprise that the cops are back on duty, without fear of prosecution. “If you are mentally ill and black, you already have two strikes against you if you come into contact with law enforcement,” wrote civil rights attorney Ben Crump , referring to the spate of high-profile police killings of mentally ill African Americans. In the article he wrote for CNN, Crump lamented a third strike, based on a U.S. Supreme Court decision on April 2. The justices ruled that an Arizona police officer who shot and killed a woman with a history of mental illness could not be sued. The court said the officer was entitled to qualified immunity. News that Reich popped the major question to his girlfriend with a four-carat elongated, radiant-cut ring, which he personally designed with Leor Yerushalmi and The Jewelers of Las Vegas. We really do think West may be suffering another mental breakdown and could be in need of some professional assistance. We hope he gets it. We’re obligated to joke around about a star when he or she relays the sort of bat$hit crazy messages that Kanye has been posting of late. Back in April of 2016, author Michelle McNamara passed away unexpectedly at the age of 42. Though perhaps best known to the general public as the wife of comedian Patton Oswalt, McNamara was a highly-regarded true crime writer who was hard at work on her magnum opus at the time of her death. I’ll Be Gone in the Dark became an instant bestseller when it was published posthumously in February of this year, and now it looks as though the book may have helped lead police to a serial killer and rapist who evaded capture for more than four decades. Former police officer Joseph James DeAngelo, 72, was arrested in Sacramento this morning on two counts of murder. There’s reason to believe that DeAngelo might be the man police referred to as the East Area Rapist and who McNamara dubbed the Golden State Killer – an elusive suspect whose DNA ties him to 12 murders, 45 sexual assaults, and 120 burglaries committed between 1976 and 1986. The investigation has been referred to by Sacramento County District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert as “the most prolific unsolved serial killing case probably in modern history.” At the time of her death, McNamara’s manuscript was left unfinished. The published version has been supplemented with material from researcher Paul Haynes and journalist Billy Jensen as well as an afterword by Oswalt, all of whom took to social media today to celebrate what appears to be the completion of McNamara’s life’s work. “Think you got him, Michelle,” Oswalt said in an emotional video posted to Instagram this morning. The famed comic will also produce an upcoming HBO docudrama about the GSK investigation. The publicity surrounding the book and HBO special is believed to have prompted Sacramento police to re-open the 32-year-old cold case. Interestingly, when news of DeAngelo’s arrest broke, Oswalt was with the book’s research team at a press event in McNamara’s hometown of Chicago last night, which also served as the first night of filming for the HBO documentary. “Ended with me saying, ‘He’s running out of time.’ And now all of this. Surreal,” Oswalt tweeted today. Many fans of McNamara’s work have posted some of the more eerily prescient passages of her first and last book, particularly a section in which she addresses the killer directly, imagining him being apprehended as an old man. “You’re long past leaping over a fence. Take one of your hyper, gulping breaths. Clench your teeth. Inch timidly toward the insistent bell,” McNamara writes. “This is how it ends for you … Open the door. Show us your face. Walk into the light.” While there are certainly no happy endings in a story this macabre, we hope that DeAngelo’s arrest can bring a modicum of relief to those who were tormented by his crimes – as well as the family of the woman who devoted her final days to seeing him brought to justice. There’s reason to believe that DeAngelo might be the man police referred to as the East Area Rapist and who McNamara dubbed the Golden State Killer – an elusive suspect whose DNA ties him to 12 murders, 45 sexual assaults, and 120 burglaries committed between 1976 and 1986. The investigation has been referred to by Sacramento County District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert as “the most prolific unsolved serial killing case probably in modern history.” At the time of her death, McNamara’s manuscript was left unfinished. The published version has been supplemented with material from researcher Paul Haynes and journalist Billy Jensen as well as an afterword by Oswalt, all of whom took to social media today to celebrate what appears to be the completion of McNamara’s life’s work. “Think you got him, Michelle,” Oswalt said in an emotional video posted to Instagram this morning. The famed comic will also produce an upcoming HBO docudrama about the GSK investigation. The publicity surrounding the book and HBO special is believed to have prompted Sacramento police to re-open the 32-year-old cold case. Interestingly, when news of DeAngelo’s arrest broke, Oswalt was with the book’s research team at a press event in McNamara’s hometown of Chicago last night, which also served as the first night of filming for the HBO documentary. “Ended with me saying, ‘He’s running out of time.’ And now all of this. Surreal,” Oswalt tweeted today. Many fans of McNamara’s work have posted some of the more eerily prescient passages of her first and last book, particularly a section in which she addresses the killer directly, imagining him being apprehended as an old man. “You’re long past leaping over a fence. Take one of your hyper, gulping breaths. Clench your teeth. Inch timidly toward the insistent bell,” McNamara writes. “This is how it ends for you … Open the door. Show us your face. Walk into the light.” While there are certainly no happy endings in a story this macabre, we hope that DeAngelo’s arrest can bring a modicum of relief to those who were tormented by his crimes – as well as the family of the woman who devoted her final days to seeing him brought to justice.
