T he family of the Black man who was killed by a police officer in his own Dallas apartment last month still has plans to sue the city, according to a new report. Botham Jean ’s family announced their intentions earlier this month to sue Dallas for civil rights violations, but the lawsuit was seemingly in limbo last week after Jean’s mother said some questions she had were being answered by officials. Lawyers representing the family revealed details of the pending lawsuit on Monday, showing exactly what Jean’s parents were hoping to accomplish with it. “Jean’s parents say they want their lawsuit to not just focus on how their son died, but to change how police officers are trained about when to fire their weapons,” the Dallas Morning News reported Monday afternoon. Johnson, who was appointed DA nearly two years ago, was running to be elected to the post next month and has at times seemed more concerned with her campaign than Jean’s killing. “The Jeans also fault [Dallas Police Chief U. Reneé] Hall for turning over the case to the Rangers and say Dallas police should have kept investigating,” Dallas Morning News also reported. “Hall has said she turned over the case in an effort to be more transparent.” However, Hall, at one point in the weeks after the shooting, told reporters that she was “prohibited” from firing Amber Guyger , the officer who killed Jean. Less than a week later, Guyger was fired. There’s also the issue of the criminal charge Guyger was facing. She was charged with manslaughter , but that could be changed to murder depending on what a grand jury decides. However, it was unclear when, or if, a grand jury would ever convene. It’s been nearly seven weeks since Guyger entered Jean’s apartment and killed him on Sept. 6, implausibly confusing her rental unit for his and purportedly suspecting he was an intruder in her home. Local law enforcement has been accused of helping Guyger coverup her crime , allowing her to avoid criminal charges and remain free nearly three days following the shooting before she turned herself in and was arrested. She was finally fired nearly three weeks after she killed Jean. Her toxicology report has also not been released even though she reportedly submitted to a test the night of the shooting. For years now, rumors that Jill Duggar is planning to divorce Derick Dillard have been circulating nonstop. Despite the many, many ways in which he’s screwed up, however, that outcome still seems unlikely, if only because divorce is so severely frowned upon in Jill’s family. For all we know, Jill is as disgusted by Derick’s actions as anyone else. But in all likelihood, the mother of two will remain with her disappointing husband simply because that’s what’s expected of her. That won’t stop fans from dreaming of a future in which Jill kicks him to the curb, however: It’s tough to say what Derick’s most egregious offense of the past year has been. The most obvious candidate is Derick getting fired from Counting On for expressing his bigoted views in a bizarre Twitter tirade. Awful stuff, especially since Jill quit the show as a gesture of solidarity, thus leaving her family with no source of income. Derick has yet to apologize and has, in fact, doubled down on those views, so it’s highly unlikely he’ll be returning to television anytime in the near future. So that might be the biggest reason that the public hates him, but Jill’s biggest reason for wanting to kick him to the curb probably has to do with Derick’s infidelity. Yes, as you may have heard, Derick has been accused of cheating on Jill. Jill hasn’t publicly commented on those reports but she recently posted a photo of herself reading the Bible’s ” warning on adultery ” section. Fans noted that she had highlighted the entire section. Not long after, Jill posted the image below, in which she’s seen reading a self-help book about boundaries and the importance of removing “toxic” people from one’s life. Fans got excited yet again, but it’s worth noting that this pic came just days after the Dillards revealed that Jill attends law school lectures with Derick so that she can help him take notes. Not exactly the act of a woman who’s planning to pack up the kids and leave ASAP. Maybe one day Jill will surprise us all by asserting her independence and moving on without Derick. 90 Day Fiance had its Season 6 premiere, and the drama is already heating up. Though fans have already met the Season 6 couples , we learned a lot more on the premiere. Including which fiancee arrived in the US and almost immediately found another woman’s underwear in her fiance’s home. Let’s start with Jonathan and Fernanda. These two are both adults, but their 12-year age difference is raising some eyebrows, especially since Fernanda is 19. As we saw on the 90 Day Fiance premiere, it’s not just fans who are thinking about how these two are in different stages of their lives. Jonathan’s status as a bachelor in is 30s is clearly making Fernanda a little insecure. Her finding a pair of panties in his apartment on her first day didn’t help matters. They belonged to his ex, which he tried to explain, but it was not a good start for these two. Kalani and Asuelu are one of those couples that you find yourself really rooting for. They both seem sweet and neither appear to be monsters. Also, the way that Kalani talks to the camera is charming. Fans may like these two, but Kalani’s family is not on board. it turns out that her devoutly Mormon family is not happy that she lost he virginity to and had a baby with a man who is not yet her husband. “My family was not supportive of me being with Asuelu,” Kalani revealed. “They thought he was just taking advantage of me.” She revealed that her father, who is Samoan himself, had hoped that she would end up with a very different man. There are deeper issues at play, here. Ashley and Jay are another couple with an age gap, but that’s taking a back seat. Because Jay’s horndog personality is not subtle. He isn’t shy about telling the camera about how much he loves sex. Ashley’s loved ones are worried that he cheated on her while they were in a long distance relationship. “Maybe I don’t care what Jay does when I’m not over there,” Ashley claims. She says: “What he does in Jamaica when I’m not there is none of my business.” Ashley does at least admit: “I’m hoping that he changed his ways.” Sex positivity is great — but cheating? That’s less cool. She’s hoping that he becomes devoted to her in America. Colt and Larissa aren’t on the same page just yet. There was a rpoblem with Larissa’s visa, so she had to miss her flight. She asked Colt to go ahead and book the next one, but he wanted to wait to book a flght after her visa issues were worked out. Larissa didn’t understand that, and it soon became clear that she assumes that, as an American, he is wealthier than he is. “She’s in for an extremely rude awakening,” Colt admits. And this is all before she’s met this momma’s boy’s mother — or their many cats. Eric and Leida are really flipping the script. Though Eric is an older American and Leida is younger, she enjoyed a life of privilege in Indonesia. Eric, though a 40-year-old veteran, seems to be making just enough to get by. In fact, as we learned on the premiere, he had been splitting rent with his 19-year-old daughter. To prepare for the arrival of Leida and her 5-year-old son, he asked his daughter to move out, which obviously created some friction. He and Leida both expressed some anxieties about making this work. Despite their misgivings, smart money says that Eric and Leida are likely to make it to the altar if she’s already come this far.
