Jonas Brother and co-star Michael Urie, who end their Broadway run Sunday, tell MTV News the fans ‘say some pretty wild things.’ By Jocelyn Vena Nick Jonas Photo: MTV News Nick Jonas will end his run in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” when the Broadway show closes Sunday. The singer, along with his co-star Michael Urie, will no longer play business rivals on the Great White Way, but do continue to hold fond memories of their time in the show. When MTV News caught up with the actors recently, they recalled some of their favorite fan encounters during their tenure in “How to Succeed.” “The craziest fan encounter? The great thing about the fans is that they are polite during the show,” Jonas said. “At the beginning of the show, they have an opportunity get excited, and then throughout the show, they are very polite.” Everyone’s polite — at least, until Jonas got his smooch on. “Occasionally, they’ll have little outbursts of craziness,” he remembered. “It usually comes for me during the kissing moment during the show. They can say some pretty wild things I can hear out of the corner of my ear. It’s fun.” Urie joked, “I actually stand offstage during the kiss and scream things like, ‘Nick, Nick, oh Nick,’ with about that [deep] inflection.” All joking aside, Urie did have some warm, fuzzy encounters with the show’s fans before every performance. “Before the show, it’s fun to come into the theater every night, because there are people waiting. Sometimes there are people camped out waiting that aren’t even there to see the show,” he said. “They’ve already seen the show or they’re seeing the show in the future, and they’ll be like, ‘Hey Michael, good show.’ And they’re very cool and easygoing.” Both Jonas and Urie joined the show in January. Their run was expected to go until July 1, but they’re closing a bit early. With the show ending Sunday, Jonas will now devote more time to recording a new album with his brothers. My name is Michka and on 26th April , at 10:55 am my dream finally hit reality. Justin was coming to the UK on 23rd April and I possibly couldn’t miss him as it was such a good opportunity to try and meet him. I saw so many Beliebers meet Justin and my heart was crushed so me and my friend where crying at school because we wanted it so bad. The day before me and Ellie came up with a plan so I finally got around my mum. We got the coach at 23:40, it took 6 hours to get to London. We got to Justin’s hotel at 7:00am and stood there in the freezing cold/rain but I’d do anything to meet him. A few hours passed by and I didn’t believe we’d meet him. All of this traveling and waiting was a waste of time. All the Beliebers were chanting Justin, “We want Jerry.” The atmosphere was amazing. We were all standing there and I saw Justin rush past the window. He began to walk by and everyone started to freak out. I didn’t know what was happening my heart, it was beating out my chest and I was shaking. Everything around me physically stopped moving and all focus was on him. As he began to walk over, everything was in slow motion. I had my Believe bracelet in the air to show him which is my lucky bracelet. He looked at me and smiled, then he told us to calm down by putting his finger over his mouth but obviously that made us freak out more. Anyways, as he walked to me he grabbed hold of my hand, looked at me and smiled. My heart dropped. I was just touching him to see if he was real. Then he grabbed my hand again and my friends and told us to stop crying. Then this girl got a photo with him so I got in also. Justin grabbed my hand once again, and I said “Justin can I please take picture with you?” and he said, “Sure.” He went to grab my phone to take a picture but I was getting pulled back. So was Justin. Everyone was going wild and then for Justin’s safety, he had to go to his car so he let go of my hand. Then he got into the car and blew us a kiss, waved and did the peace sign. I got pulled back to by security because I was freaking out that much. Justin’s car began to drive and he rolled down his window. He held some Beliebers hands (his hands are so soft just saying). As he got to me and my friend, he held my hand as I passed him my purple ‘Believe’ bracelet. It dropped on his leg, he looked down and looked interested to see what it was. He smiled so much and said, “Thank you so much”. He let go of my hand slowly and then went Love you guys. Then drove off. All Beliebers was freaking out like crazy, my eyes where pouring with tears. I felt so blessed to have met him and he spent his time with us, he’s so sweet and caring over us Beliebers. The next day came along and I went onto Facebook to see Justin wearing my purple Believe bracelet! He was pointing to it and smiling, and he had the sleeve up to show the bracelet off, I couldn’t believe it. I’m so grateful. He looked so proud of it, and that shows how much Beliebers mean to him. My name is Budoor, I’m 18, and My Bieber Experience finally happened on April 27 th , 2012 at the Tribeca Film Festival! I’ve been trying to meet Justin for years now! The first time, I went to his concert in Philadelphia November 14, 2010 when I traveled all the way from Bahrain (Middle East) to New York (14 hours worth of plane ride) and took a train to Philly to see his concert for a day. Although I didn’t get to meet him, I saw him in concert and ever since that day, I made it my mission to meet him. I recently moved to Toronto and have been trying to jump at any opportunity I would have to meet Justin. Being unlucky me, I would always miss his appearances in New York or Toronto by a day or by a week because I had to be somewhere else and there were no excuses to miss out on those personal things going on. I was devastated! So for days and nights, I would prepare what I’d say to Justin when I meet him, what pose I’d have in the photo, and what I’d be wearing. Ridiculous, I know, but I cant help it! ANYWAYS, it was the beginning of April 2012 when it was announced that Justin would be attending the film festival on April 27 th and I was going to be done with exams on the 23 rd . I booked a flight for the 26 th purposely so that I could go and see him , but I didn’t tell anyone about this trip just in case I wasn’t going to really see him because I was still unsure as to whether he would go to NYC. April 26 th at night, he tweets that he’s in NYC. After seeing my friends that night, I went to sleep at 4 AM and woke up at 8 AM to go and see Justin at NYU. Grabbed a Starbucks coffee, took a taxi there, and when I reached, there were only 5 other fans there. We stood outside waiting for Justin to come and the crowd got bigger but not as big as I expected. We were hardly 50 fans! Suddenly, Justin’s car drives from the front and goes around the building so he can enter from the back. All the fans ran to go and see him, but us, being the first ones there and first by the rail, decided to stay and wait until he leaves. We were determined. However, the security at the place told us that he wouldn’t be seeing us and that there was no hope. There was a young girl with us who cried loads for not seeing him and we tried to console her, but they kept on saying that it wasn’t sure anyways that we were going to see them . Our answer to that was why would he and Scooter tweet this exact address! It was heartbreaking but I will thank her EVERYDAY! Her crying made them feel bad and they suddenly took us 10 fans to the back on top of the stairs where Justin would first leave. I quickly got my spot and took out my camera. It was about 1 PM now. We were waiting and waiting and I was getting more and more nervous. I was focused on taking that picture with him! First, Kenny came out and I screamed his name. Then came Alfredo and I did the same, but they just walked past and into the car. We kept on waiting and waiting for Justin and random people would open the door and leave, which made it more and more frustrating! And suddenly at around 2, JUSTIN SHOWS UP! OMG, I DIED!!! I screamed so loud and kept on repeating “JUSTIN I LOVE YOU”! I didn’t know what else to do other than attract his attention to take that photo! He walked right up to the guy next to me and then I told him, “Justin, PLEASE A PHOTO!! PLEASE!!” So he comes up, grabs my camera, and takes the photo. Just as I was about to take the camera from him, he’s like “Hold on, let me check if the photo turned out alright”. DAMN THIS KID IS NICE!!! I was blown away at how kind he was.. I mean, I already knew but WOW, who does that?!?! Then he walked away and came back to the people next to me to sign autographs and I screamed to him, “Justin I came all the way from Canada” and he was like, “Canada? Really?! Wow”. And he walked away to take pictures with other fans! IT WAS AMAZING!! I STILL CANT BELIEVE IT HAPPENED!! Justin is the nicest person I have ever met in my life and also very generous. The same day he tweeted he was going to Fuerza Bruta for Usher and I went to look for him, but then decided to go back home to spend time with my friends and give Justin his space. My name is Linda and I’m 20. This is my Bieber Experience. May 2 & May 3, 2012: I won the Vevo Justin Bieber Biggest Fan Contest. I went to LA May 2 and I did this amazing video shoot with other great lucky winners. (It will be on YouTube in little over a month) While there, the lady running the shoot told me that they needed Beliebers over 18 to do this thing for Justin on MTV. Since myself and this other girl Cindy both being over 18, we went. It was great to be there. We had to wait a while. I brought two friends with me. As we waited for Justin to come, we got to chill and talk. They told us what to do when he arrives and all that. Once he showed up it was amazing to be right up front. After the live taping on MTV, we got to take pictures with Justin. I waited in line respectfully. Soon it was my turn to hug Justin, I walked up and he said hi. I said hi back and then we took a picture. I turned to him and asked, “Can you follow me on Twitter for my birthday”. Then the security guard told me to move on. Justin looked at me and said, “Sure what is you twitter?” I told him, he stood there for a second and tried to remember it. Then I said thank you and walked away. On May 3, 2012 I was blessed with the wonderful opportunity to go MTV’s premiere of Justin’s Video for ‘Boyfriend’ at the Peterson Auto Museum in LA. We got there around 1pm and it was a lot of waiting around and just hanging out until about 3:30 when we got brought inside the actual room where the interview was going to take place. The MTV people assigned questions to a few fans who were close and up front (I was originally assigned a question but I gave it to a friend) but it was okay because I still got to be super close. We practiced with Sway and a stand-in Justin from MTV (@GeoffMcCarthy) for about 45 mins to an hour. THEN it was SHOWTIME! Justin and Sway roll up to the interview in this fancy car and they both get out and Justin literally hugged EVERYONE, he was so sweet. Then him and Sway did a little back and forth convo, then he introduced the video. One thing that people didn’t see on TV was that the transition from the original video from the teaser and new video with the cars wasn’t as smooth as it seemed on TV. I felt like for a minute we just stood there looking around trying to figure out what was going on and then Justin was like, “oooohhh… I switched it up on you guys… I bet you guys weren’t expecting this” It was kind of funny but then the real video came on and we were dancing and singing along, I occasionally looked at Justin and he had the BIGGEST smile on his face as he watched the video. I could tell he was really happy and proud of it. It was really cool to see Justin that way. But after the video he talked about how everything sounds better in a whisper because if he just rapped that part regularly, it doesn’t sound as swag or sexy. I said “Yea like the whisper song” and he laughed. But then we came back from commercial and we taped the interview for about 45 minutes. After the interview was over there was like an awkward silence then someone asked for a picture. Justin said that he would take pics with everyone as long as we made a line which at the time was really nice of him considering he had somewhere to be. But that just shows how much Justin cares about his fans. When it was my turn for a picture he asked if I liked the video and I obvs told him that I LOVED it and he said that he likes when he makes us fans proud. Then we took the picture and I thanked him and then he said No thank you, I couldn’t do any of this without you guys. My name is Amber. I’m 21 years old, and I’m a Belieber. I FINALLY met Justin on May 3rd, 2012. It was at a MTV event for 18+ (aka “Legal Beliebers”). Now, I need to give a HUGE SHOUT OUT to my girl Shelby (@shelbaybayluvjb) for getting me in! I am forever grateful for her. The event was awesome. MTV was nice enough to give us sandwiches and cookies beforehand. We hung out for a bit then, it was show time. When Justin walked in, I was the first person he hugged.
