I Wore Shorts For The First Time In 10 Years And No One Died

Go here to read the rest:

….It might have been longer than ten years, to be honest. It’s been that long that I can’t even remember the last time. I became imprisoned in my body by the false standards of beauty highlighted by Western culture. My thighs have always been thick. Pencil skirts ride up on my hips and my jean shorts and pants always wear in the thigh area. Shorts never have “space” when I wear them. You know what I mean: when you see them in magazines and advertisements and the thighs don’t take up all the space. Jean shorts always look like biker shorts on me. Always. I went to New Orleans and y’all it was hot. It’s been my summer of body liberation, where I’ve decided I’m not hiding parts of my body that I don’t like and rather embracing them. It was too hot for jeans and even too hot for a skirt. My wardrobe was limited because I had only what I packed. I had some Black biker shorts. I took them out of my suitcase and put them on. I had to fight the voice in my head that said, “You’re thighs are too big to wear these shorts.” I put them on and went about my day. …and you know what? Nobody died. Nobody stared. It was about more than wearing shorts. It was about seeing myself as beautiful and challenging the world to meet me where I am at, vs the reverse. It was about all the women who enslave themselves to a mirror based on the ideals of men and society. There is a dangerous privilege within the plus size and body positive community where we praise and uplift specific bodies within our community. You can be fat, but only with a flat stomach. Thicc is only defined as hourglass. Yes to being a size 18, but you better not display any cellulite. If your arms are heavy, you are imprisoned to 3/4th’s tops. To me, this is equally dangering to the female psyche as feminism can be to Black women due to the divide. Body liberation is a process and one that I have spent the summer diligently working toward. I’m working towards being a woman made woman vs a man-made woman. And it started with shorts. Kendall Jenner See Through Bodysuit for Fashion of the Day

Kendall Jenner is in a cat suit showing off her body…because she’s a fucking Kardashian….which I guess would mean she’d be showing her gaping ass if this was 10 years ago and the family had a tactic o get famous – and not just a cat suit – but that’s the benefit of being on the tail end of the porn part of the business because you were 10 at the time – and more on the mainstream side of the business which is still slutty and shameless…but not dick in ass slutty and shameless. This family is boring, the devil, all that is wrong with America…and it is in a Bodysuit…while the other sister is going viral for putting milk on her cereal for the first time…and their dad is out finger fucking himself to test out his new cunt. Sooo…Diesel Chose Nicki Minaj For Anti-Bullying Campaign & People Have Questions

More:

Source: Photo by C Flanigan/Getty Images / Getty Once again,  Nicki Minaj has the Twitter-verse riled up and this time a major fashion brand is connected to the chaos. Diesel recently announced that Nicki would be one of the faces for its Autumn/Winter 2018 “hate couture” campaign used to combat cyberbullying. Different stars, including Nicki, Gucci Mane , actress Bella Thorne and model Jonathan Bellini have been recruited for the campaign. In a video Diesel posted to their social media, the most hateful messages these stars have received on social media are etched into the design of their Diesel apparel. Thus Nicki’s shirt reads “The Bad Guy” (It’s still up for debate if people actually call her this or if she just gave herself the name herself). You don’t make online hate disappear by hiding it. Introducing #DieselHateCouture feat. @nickiminaj @bellathorne @gucci1017 @tommydorfman @milesdheizer #BarbieFerreira #BriaVinaite #YooAhIn #JonBellini #YoVentura #FW18 . . Director #jovantodorovic Stylist @markymarcmode pic.twitter.com/XXpI9BrsZZ — Diesel (@DIESEL) September 18, 2018 Proceeds from the sale of the limited-edition clothing items will reportedly go to anti-bullying programs at the OTB foundation according to The Business of Fashion. Though the campaign seems to have good intentions, folks across the Internet couldn’t help but notice a tiny issue in the selection of stars. Nicki Minaj has been accused of some major bullying. The most notorious instance came when cultural critic and Twitter user Wanna Thompson critiqued the subject matters in Nicki Minaj’s music a few months back. Instead of starting a conversation on Twitter like Wanna had hoped, an army of Nicki-crazed Barbz came after Wanna like she was the village plague. “I wouldn’t wish this on my worse enemy,” Thompson told The New York Times back in July. After Nicki fans came for Wanna’s life via social media, emails and even phone calls, Nicki herself contacted Wanna and it wasn’t pretty. She slid in Wanna’s DMs and called her everything but a child of God. “Eat a di** you hating ass h*” and “ugly ass” were just a few of the words Nicki aimed at Wanna. Sounds like a bully, no? When Wanna heard the news of Nicki’s Diesel campaign, she was just as confused. @DIESEL is making a mockery out of cyber-bullying. There are countless organizations and individuals doing their best to combat the issue and instead of enlisting them you get Nicki Minaj? So irresponsible and counterproductive. — Wanna (@WannasWorld) September 19, 2018 Then, let’s not forget the accusations Cardi B made about Nicki after their notorious run-in during New York Fashion Week. In an Instagram post, she accused Nicki of lying on her and telling other artist not to work with her.   Though it’s not certain that Cardi’s accusations are true, one has to ask what would provoke a woman enough to send her shoe flying across a fashion event. Nicki even gave Travis Scott a “Ho* Ni**a of the Week” award on her Queen radio show when she was critiquing his record sales and number one spot on the charts. Despite all this controversy, of course the Barbz still weren’t bothered… Nicki Minaj is a marketing genius! Sis really flipped this “Bad Guy” narrative and now has a Capsule Collection with Diesel that is going to inspire and uplift so many people who have been beaten down by the words of others. — Pink Queen Tingz (@pinkqueentingz) September 18, 2018 Even Diesel seemed to hold strong in their partnership with Nicki. “We’re here to support anyone who’s getting hated on, and Nicki is one of them,” Diesel wrote in response to some fan criticism. We’re here to support anyone who’s getting hated on, and Nicki is one of them. — Diesel (@DIESEL) September 19, 2018 Well if we’re going with that logic, anyone can be apart of this campaign! When should we expect our phone call? Other parts of the Internet were over the partnership as well. Hit the next pages to peep what folks had to say!

Model Monday: Lashira Moné Looks Past The Struggle

View original post here:

Agency: Seeking Representation Instagram: @lashiramone Claim to Fame: Mone’ was a finalist in Miss Maryland USA . She was also featured in a major campaign for Macy’s .  Modeling comes with a lifetime of rejection. Casting calls dash more dreams than they fulfill and constantly being told they don’t fit into someone’s else vision can discourage even the most passionate of young women. Luckily Lashira Moné isn’t easily discouraged. The Baltimore native was a finalist in 2017’s Miss Maryland USA pageant and while she might not have gone home with the title she achieved what she set out to accomplish by using her time in the pageant to highlight issues that hit close to home. “I wanted to create a platform for not only myself, but for others where I could inspire them to know their self-worth and build confidence in themselves”, Moné tells Hello Beautiful . She revealed that she was inspired to do so “after being bullied in middle school, struggling with confidence, and courage .” While Moné describes herself as “shy” that hasn’t stopped her from stepping forward in an effort to make her dreams come true even if she had to take those steps on her own . “I started traveling to model calls , go sees, fashion shows , and photoshoots, and networking events all by myself”, shared Mone’. “Most of the time I would get “NOs” but that never stopped me, it pushed me to continue on my journey .” “Once I started understanding who I was and who I could eventually grow to, I started testing the waters”, says Moné. One of the ways the model, who has now been featured in Macy’s campaigns , fashion segments on CBS, and walked in Small Boutique Fashion Week , is testing the waters is by stepping behind the camera. Her experience as a photographer affords her a new perspective on what designers are looking for and allows her to create invaluable relationships within the fashion and beauty industries. She says, “From stepping out on faith I met so many people and has been getting so many amazing opportunities.” She is looking forward to using those opportunities not only to improve her own life but to show others that there’s life after bullying and self-doubt. She says, “I want to leave my mark as an inspiration to others.” DON’T MISS:  MODEL MONDAY: Michell L. Lady Gaga Slutty for Magazines of the Day

The fact that Lady Gaga is still running her scam amazes me. It’s like every time a Nigerian scammer calls me a tells me that my ancestor has left me money I need to pay to get out of the country…I’m like “really, you’re still doing this Jamal”…. It’s fucking crazy that people, fans, stay so loyal to such dog shit ,you’d think they’d be as flimsy as her music, or her performances….uneventful trying so fucking hard…yet people are loyal…they stick to what they like, support what they know, don’t like change…and keep coming back to the abusiveness of Lady Gaga’s everything. She’s in Vogue because she’s an actress now, something I guess she’s always been and that requires no talent…something that is an easy transition and that will keep her working and in our faces for years to come….and the whole thing is unfortunate. Maybe more people need to do the Mac Miller…as sad as it may be to lose people when you still like them, at least we don’t have to keep seeing them when we hate the fuck out of them. Not In Front Of The White People! Nicki Minaj Is Getting Dragged For THIS Comment About Her Cardi B Scuffle

(Photo by Bertrand Rindoff Petroff/Getty Images) Nicki Minaj’s Latest Drag Nicki Minaj was on her Queen Radio show on Monday again to air out some drama and spill some tea after her nasty fight with Cardi B at New York Fashion Week. Part of Nicki’s problem was that she was embarrassed. Why? Well: “The way [these upper echelon people] passed by looking at this disgusting commotion, I was mortified … How we (and I’m going to use WE loosely) made ourselves look was mortifying.” A lot of people took this as Nicki saying she wanted to look prim and proper for white people. Now she’s a sellout? She cares too much about what white people think? Is there some hypocrisy here? Should she care? “She’s embarrassing us in front of white people” pic.twitter.com/RZNoHPI6x8 — Black Marlins Man (@ampaveli) September 10, 2018 Well, Twitter went all the way with this. What do you think?

Cardi B Has No Regrets About Throwing Her Shoe At Nicki Minaj: Report

Apparantely their heated exchange has come with no remorse, at least from the Cardi side of things. . . Kanye West Says ‘Watch The Throne 2’ Is Coming Soon?

More:

Source: Randy Brooke / Getty Kanye West says a lot of things, especially on Twitter. Case in point, yesterday (Sept. 8), Yeezy tweeted that Watch The Throne 2 is on the way.  The first Watch The Throne dropped in 2011 and featured the smash hit “N*ggas In Paris.” It was also recorded and released during a time when Yeezy and his big brother Jay-Z were on much better terms. Although both parties claim it’s all love, their relationship is clearly strained . Thus, a proper sequel to Watch The Throne has been in doubt. Then Yeezy tweeted: “throne2 coming soon.” That’s it, that’s all. Is it Watch The Throne 2 , or actually some ish called throne2 . Is Jay-Z involved? Does he remember sending that tweet? So many questions, but don’t hold your breath for any answers anytime soon. throne2 coming soon — KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) September 8, 2018 — Photo; Getty
