A handful of new details have emerged in regard to the shocking and tragic death of Kate Spade . As previously reported, the fashion icon seemingly committed suicide inside her Manhattan apartment on Tuesday morning, with Spade’s housekeeper finding her boss’s body around 10:20 a.m. Spade was 55 years old. The veteran handbag maker reportedly used a scarf tied to a bedroom door knob to take her own life. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Shortly after this horrible news went public, Kate Spade New York released the following statement via its official Twitter account: Kate Spade, the visionary founder of our brand, has passed. Our thoughts are with her family at this incredibly heartbreaking time. We honor all the beauty she brought into this world. We can also now confirm that Spade’s husband was at the apartment when his wife’s body was discovered. Spade was one of the world’s most famous fashion designers. She was specifically known and respected for creating a line of handbags and jewelry in the 1990s… which blossomed into a fashion enterprise with over 140 retail stores across the United States. Kate got her start in the 1980s, working for women’s magazine “Mademoiselle” in Manhattan. Together with husband Andy (the brother of actor David Space), Spade launched Kate Spade Handbags in 1993; it eventually turned into a full-scale clothing and jewelry line. Spade sold her company in 2007 and took some time off to raise her daughter. However, Kate then got back in the fashion game in 2016 by launching a new brand called Frances Valentine … named after her daughter, who’s now 13 years old. This is especially relevant and sad at the moment because The New York Post reports that Kate did, in fact, leave a suicide note. It mainly addressed her daughter, telling Frances that her suicide was NOT the teenager’s fault. A police source, meanwhile, told this same newspaper that the suicide was due to “relationship problems.” We don’t feel comfortable speculating beyond that. In response to this news, a number of celebrities have expressed their sadness and surprise on Twitter. Take fellow designer Liz Lange, for instance: The nicest woman, the first person to compliment me on Liz Lange Maternity when I first started. And the creator of the most iconic brand. I am heart broken by this news. And Chelsea Clinton: My grandmother gave me my first Kate Spade bag when I was in college. I still have it. Holding Kate’s family, friends and loved ones in my heart. And Tess Holliday: Kate Spade & her brand have always been so kind to me the past couple years & I’m crushed to hear about her passing. Suicide isn’t ‘the easy way out’ and shouldn’t be mocked. Now that Katy Perry is done feuding with Taylor Swift , the singer has apparently chosen a new target for her wrath. And that target is… … Meghan Markle?!? Apparently, yes. Following Saturday’s royal wedding, the rare event met with universal approval across the Internet, Perry was asked for her reaction to Markle’s wedding down. It was a pretty basic ensemble, designed by Givenchy and worn perfectly by the glowing bride. Or at least that’s what we thought. “I would have done one more fitting,” the American Idol judge told Entertainment Tonight about the gown, adding with a smile: “I’m never not going to tell the truth! One more fitting, but I love you!” Let’s keep in mind that this fashion assessment is coming from someone who went out in public looking like this recently: Designed by Great Britain’s own Clare Waight Keller, Markle’s dress featured a sleek silhouette featured and an open bateau neckline, along with slim three-quarter sleeves. Moreover, it expertly emphasized the bride’s slender sculpted waist, according to Kensington Palace’s official release. Has the gown received the sort of praise bestowed upon Kate Middleton’s wedding dress in 2011? Which actually led H&M to come out with a much cheaper version that it now sells in storeS? No. Not yet at least. But why be so harsh, Katy Perry?!? “Kate won! The ceremony was attended by several hundred guests, while thousands of people lined the London streets to cheer on the couple and millions more watched at home on television. We’ve since learned that Harry gave a speech at the evening reception in which he said he cannot wait for him and Markle to be an official “team.’ He also praised his bride’s “grace and dignity,” both of which truly have been on display while she gets dragged left and right by her terrible family members. In her speech, meanwhile, Markle reportedly thanked her mom (“You have always been there for me through everything…”) and the Royal Family for accepting her into their lives with open arms. Markle and Harry remain in Great Britain right now, putting off their honeymoon for an undetermined period of time. It’s unclear just when they’ll depart and it’s equally unclear just where they are actually going for this big trip. What is VERY clear, however, is that these two deserve a very long vacation. They’ve been in the public eye for a long time now and they don’t need to just sit back and take this sort of criticism from someone like Katy Perry. On Mother’s Day (May 13), the supermodel took to Instagram to share their good news and show off her little bump. “Daddy and Mommy can’t wait to meet you. As I approach motherhood I want to wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers and mommies to be ,” she wrote. The 24-year-old NY Giants star is also excited, posting an amazing pic of the two on social media. “My baby is making my baby! Happy Mother’s Day @chaneliman I love you mama.” “Our fairytale continues as we wait for the birth of our baby,” the 27-year-old Victoria’s Secret model exclusively told PEOPLE after posting the announcement online. “As our love grows each day, Sterling and I can’t wait to share it with our little one,” she continued. This is the first child for both of them. There’s no news on when the baby is due. As we previously reported , the couple was married in March in Beverly Hills. Congrats to the beautiful couple!
