We have lost another great one … This is so sad. Frankie Knuckles, The Godfather Of House, Dies From Diabetes Complications Via NY Daily News reports : The “Godfather of House” has died. Legendary DJ and music producer Frankie Knuckles passed away Monday, aged 59. The official cause of death is currently unknown, but some reports suggest it was from complications related to Type II Diabetes. Born in the Bronx in 1955, Knuckles first played disco in New York alongside Larry Levan – before moving to Chicago in the 1970s. It was there he started spinning at The Warehouse – the club credited with giving birth to the house music genre – before opening up his own venue The Power Plant in 1983. A prolific producer, he formed Def Mix Productions with Morales – and worked with stars including Diana Ross, Chaka Khan and Michael Jackson. His break as an independent artist came in 1991 when Virgin released his debut album “Beyond the Mix” – containing seminal singles “The Whistle Song,” “Rainfalls” and “Workout.” The City of Chicago renamed a stretch of Jefferson Street, near the site of the original Warehouse club, as “Frankie Knuckles Way” in 2004. Jimmy Fallon continues to bring the funny night after night on The Tonight Show . This time Jimmy Fallon and Arnold Schwarzenegger spoofed a QVC segment featuring lines from AH-NOLD ‘s iconic movies. Schwarzenegger, introduced as a “renowned foodie,” was overly fascinated with a Slap Chop. Why? Because the fascination allowed him to quote a line from the 1987 movie Predator . “Get to the chopper!” he exclaimed! The Kim Kardashian-Kanye West Vogue cover continues to be a topic of discussion worldwide. People really cannot wrap their head around the fact that a reality star would ever be featured on so esteemed a fashion magazine. (Nevermind the fact that Kim and Kanye both have fashion lines…) The latest to sound off? Naomi Campbell. But she’s a little more diplomatic and reserved in her response than Sarah Michelle Gellar was on Twitter when she threatened to cancel her subscription to the magazine. They went on to ask “Kim and Kanye haven’t earned the right to be on the cover of Vogue ?” “Those are your words, not mine. I’m being politically correct,” Campbell replied. Campbell has graced the cover of Vogue 5 times in her storied, 28-year modeling career. She knows a thing or two about the fashion world and that magazine in particular. (And whacking assistants in the head with cell phones, but that’s another story for another day…) The media firestorm surrounding the Vogue cover has been both hilarious and disheartening. Anna Wintour, the magazine’s editor, wrote a public letter stating that Kanye West did not pay or beg Wintour to put his fiance’ on the cover of the magazine.
