Mo’Nique gave a career changing performance in the 2009 movie Precious, as Mary, the abusive mother of the film’s star Gabourey Sidibe. But now she says that she’s lost a number of other big roles because she’s apparently too difficult to work with. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Mo’Nique says that she was offered roles by the producers of Empire AND director Lee Daniels, I was offered the role in The Butler that Oprah Winfrey played. I was also approached by Empire to be on Empire. And I was also offered the role as Richard Pryor’s grandmother in [Daniels’ upcoming Pryor biopic]. Each of those things that he offered me was taken off the table. (Laughs.) They all just went away. But that’s just part of the business, you know? I can’t be upset at anybody, ’cause life is too good. It’s just what it is. Mo’Nique is vague about exactly what it is she does that made the roles dry up. There was a lot to like on Arrow Season 3 Episode 13 , though we’ll start with a mini complaint. The face-off between dueling canaries on “Canaries” was a bit of a letdown. The fight sequences needed to be one-sided, removing a great deal of drama, while they were actually difficult to follow as well. That’s what happens when both combatants are wearing the same outfits. It would have been easy and predictable for the former to be angry at the latter for all his lying, but she instead took the more rational and mature route. All those occasions Thea believed Ollie to be a flake and or a liar? “You were saving someone,” she said. Thea did, however, have a beef with her father for driving her and her brother apart, all while being aware of Oliver’s identity. This segued nicely into tension between members of Team Arrow when Oliver booted Thea from the Foundry. Felicity led the way, giving a speech about the squad’s newfound independence, while Diggle later made it clear at the bar: The team has turned into something else. It has evolved into a cause that can live beyond its founder. “Can you live with what it’s become?” he asked Ollie. Back to Laurel: she realized she can never be Sara. Nor should she be. A California woman who became an activist against police brutality after the father of her daughter was brutally beaten to death by 15 police officers back in 2005 was rightfully outraged upon learning that her 7-year-old daughter was being forced to celebrate “Law Enforcement Appreciation Day” at school. via The Free Thought Project North Beardsley Elementary in Bakersfield, California, is facing backlash after the principal, Aimee Williamson, who happens to be the wife of the Bakersfield police chief, decided to celebrate the pseudo holiday of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day on January 9th. The biggest problem is that this hits far too close to home for one student. Outspoken activist Alicia Moore was horrified when her seven year old daughter returned home from school on Thursday upset about her class assignment that day, as her older brother’s father was brutally beaten to death by 15 Bakersfield police officers in 2005. According to Moore, her daughter’s teacher put three sentences on the board for students to choose from, all thanking and supporting the police. The options included, “Thank you for arresting the bad guys!” and “Thank you for saving our city.” The teacher reportedly told the students that anything negative would be thrown in the trash. She further instructed the students that they were to wear blue on Friday in support of Law Enforcement. Moore’s daughter is a very bright young girl who prides herself on her perfect attendance record. She also not only attends, but is consistently quick to jump into protests as this is an issue she is very passionate about. She will be staying home from school tomorrow due to the position her teacher has put her in. James Moore, the father of her 21 year old brother, was bound, hand and foot, when as many as 15 Bakersfield deputies beat him to death in the basement of the jail in 2005. James was arrested on suspicion of making threats after he got into an argument with the mother of his younger son. The main issue with this is that police officers should be taught to respect the rights of citizens just as much as citizens should also respect the authority of police and until each of those can happen equally, there will continue to be tension between the two. Manhattan Man Murders Father Over Lowered Allowance A spoiled NYC heir has murdered his father inside his parents’ Manhattan home…all in anger over his weekly allowance being lowered to $300.00. Via NYDN : A wealthy hedge-fund chief was gunned down by his adult son after he threatened to cut his allowance by a $100 a week and stop paying his steep rent, cops said Monday. Spoiled manchild Thomas Gilbert Jr., 30, flew into a murderous rage when he confronted his fed-up dad, Thomas Gilbert Sr., 70, over the downsizing of financial support, police said. “He was on a stipend from the family. Looks like he was in debt,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said of the accused killer. The freeloading son, a Princeton grad, shot his father once in the head with a .40-caliber Glock 22 handgun Sunday afternoon inside is parents’ multimillion-dollar Beekman Place apartment, police said. He then callously staged the murder scene to appear as if it was a suicide, placing the gun on his father’s chest and putting the dead man’s left hand over it, Boyce said. Gilberts parents recently told him they were cutting his $400 a week allowance by $100, a police source said. His parents also informed him they would no longer pay the rent on his apartment in a Chelsea building, where rents average $3,100 a month, the source said. As it turns out, this may not have been the first murderous tantrum the “spoiled manchild” threw in recent months. As news of the murder broke, neighbors began to suspect that Gilbert was responsible for a mysterious fire in the Hamptons a few months back. Via MailOnline : Last September 18, Gilbert was arrested for violating an order of protection three days after a Hamptons family home burned to the ground in a case of suspect arson. Multiple acquaintances of Gilbert Jr, repeated the rumor they had heard that the Princeton grad and Deerfield alumnus was a focus of suspicion when the house burned down. However, police have never identified Gilbert Jr. as a suspect nor has he been charged in the fire. In the early hours of September 15 this year, a blaze destroyed the beautiful Hamptons home owned by retired investment banker Peter L. Smith. According to sources, Peter Smith reportedly filed a restraining order against Gilbert Jr. this summer after an incident near his Williamsburg, Brooklyn home. SMH! So every time someone pisses this rich brat off, he has to burn some isht down or shoot somebody up?!
