Madonna: ‘I Need To Make New Music!’

Singer’s manager, Guy Oseary, confirms her plans to begin recording next month. By Jocelyn Vena Madonna Photo: Getty Move over Gaga and Britney, the Queen of Pop is back! Madonna has confirmed that she will begin work on her next album this summer. Her longtime manager, Guy Oseary, took to Twitter to share the news that Madge will hit the studio in July. “Madonna goes into the recording studio next month to begin work on new album …,” he wrote, sharing little else about what the Material Girl has up her sleeve. But Oseary did have a few little nuggets of information for Madge’s most devoted, writing, “She has a good idea of which producers she will be working with … lots of questions about what kind of music it will be … stay tuned.” This announcement comes six months after Madonna teased her fans with the prospect of beginning work on her next album on her Facebook page. In December, she wrote, “Its official! I need to move. I need to sweat. I need to make new music! Music I can dance to. I’m on the lookout for the maddest, sickest, most badass people to collaborate with. I’m just saying …” Since releasing Hard Candy back in 2008, Madonna has been keeping busy doing everything but recording new music. OK, she did release a greatest hits album, Celebration, in 2009, but it seems her focus has been on anything but music. She wrapped up work on her movie “W.E.,” which was just picked up by the Weinstein Company. She also launched a clothing line with her daughter, Lourdes, aptly titled Material Girl, and even found time to open up her own line of gyms around the world called Hard Candy . What Will Britney Spears Wear On Her Femme Fatale Tour?

Costume designer Zaldy Goco gave fans a sneak peek at the sparkles and studs she’ll wear when tour kicks of Thursday. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears Photo: C Flanigan/FilmMagic It’s almost here! Britney Spears launches her Femme Fatale tour on Thursday, and her team has given fans a sneak peek of the looks she’ll be showing off onstage. Costume designer Zaldy Goco spoke to “Extra” about Spears’ glittering, sexy outfits for the tour, which kicks off in Sacramento, California, with equally sexy opening act Nicki Minaj. “Well, I mean the real inspiration, of course, is Britney herself. But there’s a creative script done by the director, Jamie King, and it’s a whole thing about the femme fatale and femme fatales throughout the ages, so we have all kinds of costumes where she’s changing personas throughout the show,” he shared. “Everything is very sexy; Britney’s a very sexy girl.” The looks he shared include lots of sparkles and body-hugging designs, that include a pink latex jacket paired with a nude bodysuit to be featured in the second act of the show, a Marilyn Monroe-inspired white flowing dress, a few gladiator-inspired gold-mirrored options, pink-chrome-studded leather and denim, as well as a “Toxic”-inspired catsuit. For the finale, she wears a kimono, with an anime version of herself silkscreened on one sleeve, over a sparkling, black bodysuit that has LED lights built into it. Previously teased was a giant pair of angel wings that Spears will also wear at some point during the show. For those wondering what Spears looks like in the costumes, fansite BreatheHeavy.com got sent some snaps of the singer rocking some of the looks, including the kimono, the studded denim and a gold-mirrored bikini. Britney Spears ‘Comes Alive’ In The Studio, will.i.am Says

‘She was like a little kid,’ the ‘Big Fat Bass’ producer recalls to MTV News of giddy, ‘giggling’ Spears. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway will.i.am Photo: MTV News When will.i.am hit the studio with Britney Spears for her Femme Fatale track “Big Fat Bass,” the producer and Black Eyed Peas frontman said the singer was completely engrossed in the recording process. “[I discovered] her love for music. I never seen anyone, like, come alive, full of excitement and giggling and laughing behind the mic,” will recalled to MTV News. “She was like a little kid when she was recording the song and it just brought the whole atmosphere, it changed the whole atmosphere when someone really loves music. So it was great working with her.” Spears expressed a similar sentiment about recording her chart-topping album during her recent “I Am the Femme Fatale” MTV special , which featured a cameo by will.i.am, who was finishing up the party track at the time. “When you’re in the studio, you’re just really focused, you’re really in your head and in your ears and on the notes,” she explains in the show. “And when you’re performing, it’s more a connection on the outside and more of — like a tiger and more in your body.” Both Brit and will are now industry vets so the BEP singer said he didn’t have much advice for the star. “When someone’s excited to go out and just do it, what advice? You don’t need no advice. She’s just turned on right now. She is [like], ‘I like this part right here.’ When I say [on the song], ‘You all better get ready for the kick drum,’ she was already anticipating what she was going to do onstage when that beat broke down,” he explained. “Adding that type of perspective … when we we’re recording it, you don’t need to give nobody [like Britney] advice.” What’s your favorite Femme Fatale track? ‘This summer will be one for the books!’ Nicki promises MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Nicki Minaj Photo: Jason LaVeris/ Getty Images After lots of speculation, Britney Spears confirmed Tuesday (April 12) that she’d be bringing Nicki Minaj along on tour . Britney Spears Drops 30-Second ‘Till The World Ends’ Video Preview

Her latest Femme Fatale clip arrives online Wednesday. By MTV News staff Britney Spears in her ‘Til The Word Ends’ teaser Photo: Jive MTV took you inside Britney Spears’ “Till the World Ends” video shoot during Sunday’s “I Am the Femme Fatale,” and now Brit herself is pulling back the curtain even further. Late Monday (April 4), the pop princess tweeted a 30-second preview of her next Femme Fatale video. “#TillTheWorldEnds video is coming out better than I even expected. Here’s a quick peek,” she wrote. In her next tweet , she revealed the release date for the follow-up video to “Hold It Against Me”: “#TillTheWorldEnds video premieres THIS Wednesday on VEVO. Cant wait to share it with you guys!” The 30-second teaser features some of the same moves Spears showed off during her three-song nightclub set in Las Vegas. This time, though, instead of the glittering lights of Vegas, Spears is leading an underground dance party as everything is crumbling around her in a dystopian universe. On Monday, it was also revealed that Spears will release two versions of the “Till the World Ends” video : a director’s cut with more of an apocalyptic story line and a choreography cut with the unabridged version of Brit’s dance moves. The video was directed by Ray Kay and shot in Los Angeles last month. “The set was a little much,” Spears recalled during the MTV special. “It was grimy and gross and it felt like there was poop everywhere when there wasn’t. It was sweat and it was disgusting sometimes … [I] tough it out,” she laughed. What do you think of the “Till the World Ends” teasers? Let us know in the comments! Britney Spears Talks Filming ‘Grimy’ ‘Till The World Ends’ Video

Singer opens up about the Ray Kay-directed video in ‘I Am the Femme Fatale’ MTV special. By Jocelyn Vena, with additional reporting by Sway Calloway Britney Spears Photo: MTV News & Docs Britney Spears took fans behind the scenes on her music video shoot for her second Femme Fatale single, “Till the World Ends,” in her MTV special, “Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale.” The video was shot in a dank basement somewhere in Los Angeles. Spears and her dancers don rocking post-apocalyptic black clothing, with Spears dancing around in a studded black leather jacket and a sexy black bodysuit. In the special, Spears is seen watching the playback on the Ray Kay-directed video. “[I watched it] just to make sure it’s right and that the costume looks right and the dancers are together and we all look in unison,” she explained. “It’s an energy and it looks fresh. It has a certain vibe with it and it makes sense.” This marks nearly the 40th music video Spears has made in her career. And these days, she says she is just looking to have a good time. When asked if she feels she needs to top herself with every project, she responded, “Not really. I feel like I’ve made so many videos that I’m at the point that I genuinely want to enjoy myself, and I have such a good team of people with me … we just have fun.” As much fun as shooting a video can be, it’s also a lot of work. At one point during the making of “Till the World Ends,” Spears wanted nothing more than a quick break. “The set was a little much. It was grimy and gross and it felt like there was poop everywhere when there wasn’t,” she recalled. “It was sweat and it was disgusting sometimes … [I] tough it out,” she laughed. Another sticking point during the shoot was the discomfort Spears felt while dancing around in heels. “It hurts … but it looks good,” she said, adding that sometimes she changes into Uggs. “It wasn’t a full-length shot, so a girl’s about comfort when it’s not showing.” At the end of the day though, the video was a lot more fun than work to shoot. “It was a lot of fun. I had never worked with Ray Kay before. I was really happy with the work we did,” she said. Britney Spears ‘Legitimizes’ Pauly D’s DJ Career, ‘Jersey Shore’ Star Says

‘Britney Spears is performing her new album at Rain while I’m DJing. I couldn’t ask for anything more,’ Pauly D says of last Friday’s Vegas gig. By Jocelyn Vena Pauly D Photo: MTV News Shortly after it was announced that Pauly D would be the resident DJ at Rain nightclub at the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, the “Jersey Shore” star was bestowed with another honor: He was to DJ Britney Spears’ surprise gig in Las Vegas , which was taped for her MTV special “Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale,” airing Sunday at 9 p.m. ET. “For me, I love Las Vegas, I love DJing. It’s my heart. I locked down this huge residency, which I always wanted, and now I find out Britney Spears is performing her new album at Rain while I’m DJing. I couldn’t ask for anything more,” Pauly D dished to MTV News last Friday. “I’m at Las Vegas now. What it means to DJ a concert like a Britney Spears concert or something like that, it’s an association with monsters like Britney Spears and it just legitimizes your career. And it’s just fun like being onstage with Britney Spears performing like she’s performing. I love it. I couldn’t ask for more.” Given that Pauly D plays a mix of popular music and more underground house, he admits that he doesn’t have to change his style up too much for a gig with Spears. “I keep up on music. I keep up on current music. I play everything. I’m open format,” he explained. “I play geared to the crowd, so I don’t prep my set. For this I go out there, I kind of wing it. I look at the crowd, I have an idea. I like to play the new stuff that’s hot. I feed off the crowd.” Pauly also explained the rules he has for his craft. “A DJ should not play the artist’s songs at her concert ’cause she has to perform these songs,” he said. “I’m not going to be playing any Britney before she performs; maybe after. I’ll let her perform, let her shine ’cause it’s her night.” The Vegas show is one of many highlights in the “I Am the Femme Fatale” special. Spears gives fans a taste of what it was like making the album, including behind-the-scenes footage of her in the studio with will.i.am and an intimate chat with Sway Calloway in which she opens up about her life and her career. To see what Spears has to say about her new album and watch her as she puts the finishing touches on it, don’t miss the “Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale” special, airing Sunday, April 3, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV. ‘Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale’ airs Sunday at 9 p.m. on MTV. They do? I love them!” Spears opens up to MTV News’ Sway Calloway about her home life, which includes cooking and being a mom to her two sons, Jayden and Sean. “I help cook dinner sometimes. I’m not that much of a cook, but I help,” she shares. “I try a little bit of everything, but I don’t have a special dish.” Spears gets candid during the show’s sit-down interview, in which she talks about her upcoming 30th birthday this December. “I think I hoped I would be [doing this],” she said about still being a performer. “I genuinely love what I do.
