But fans at The Wireless Festival in England were vexed by Khaled and Asahd ‘s vacation time after he cancelled his scheduled performance hours in advance because of “travel issues.” Some fans have tweeted about suing the festival since Khaled wasn’t the only act to no-show. Cardi B , Trippie Redd , J Hus and Fredo were also promoted on the bill. Wait DJ Khaled ? Will Drake’s ‘Scorpion’ Be a Double Album?

Source: Kevin Winter / Getty Via | HipHopDX TORONTO, CANADA –  Days after Drake previewed the release of  Scorpion  on Instagram with  a bloody photo of hockey player Tie Domi , billboards for the project started popping up in Toronto hinting at a double album. One of the billboards showcased in Yonge-Dundas Square features an owl flying down on a scorpion while the one below it says, “Changing from boy to a man.” But the ones really grasping folks’ attention have some cryptic messages to them. Yusuf Hawkins Documentary ‘Storm Over Brooklyn’ Coming To HBO

Follow this link:

Source: New York Daily News Archive / Getty Yusuf Hawkins  was slain by a violent white mob nearly 30 years ago, and a new documentary will examine the incidents leading up to this tragic moment in New York history. HBO has ordered Storm Over Brooklyn and will be coming to the cable network at a later date. Shadow and Act writes : The project is a result of the inaugural Feature Documentary Initiative created in 2017 between U.K./U.S. producer Lightbox and the American Black Film Festival to foster diversity in the feature documentary arena. Directed by Muta’Ali, the film will center on the crime which shocked New York and the result of the nation, and its trickle-down impacts. Sixteen-year-old Hawkins had come to Bensonhurst with three friends to look at a used car, when they were attacked by the hostile mob, whose members mistakenly believed that Hawkins was dating a neighborhood girl who was white. The incident shocked New York and the world and unleashed a torrent of racial tension in an already divided city and led to televised protests and marches. The growing unrest contributed to the ousting of New York City Mayor Ed Koch in favor of David Dinkins, who became the city’s first — and as of now, only — African American mayor. “Yusuf Hawkins’ murder had a major effect on the public, and the locked away regret and sorrow questions a history that those involved have held onto for nearly 30 years. We will finally see the light of day in the context of our time. This is due to the courage of Yusuf’s loving family, as well as the visionary talent teams at HBO, Lightbox and ABFF,” said Muta’Ali. Joseph Fama, the man who fired the gunshots that killed Hawkins, was convicted of second-degree murder in May 1990. An accomplice, Keith Mondello, was acquitted of murder charges that year but charged with 12 other counts, which led to protests in the region led by Rev. Al Sharpton and other leaders. — Photo: Getty

Source: Burak Cingi / Getty On Friday, Nas fans were hype with the announcement of his new album Nasir . Folks could get a preview of the much anticipated album via a live streaming of the listening party in New York. Once the party was over, surely fans were ready to hop right on Spotify, Apple Music, or Tidal to further enjoy the Queensbridge spitter’s work. However, as soon as 12 a.m. hit…crickets.   Then you think…okay, it’s only 12:01…I’ll give Nas like 30 mins…. …30 mins later…   Then you think, okay I’ll just go to bed and Nasir will be fresh on my Spotify landing page in the morning! Morning hits…   Then right before you go into panic mode…you remember the old days of listening to stuff on YouTube…and THANK GOODNESS someone had the decency to upload Nasir illegally. Not to mention, you can still enjoy the tracks via the live streaming link . But then you end up thinking, my playlist would be lit with this one Nas track and I’m too lazy to put in the extra work of looking for downloadable files. …It would all be so simple with streaming.   As of 11:50 a.m. Nasir was still nowhere to be found on streaming. But, no worries…surely we’ll get it by the time the day is over (hopefully). Meanwhile, folks on social media were definitely waiting on Nas like the first and the fifteenth, and some weren’t too happy about it.
