The Best Of The Mitt Romney ‘Binders Full Of Women’ Movie Meme

Republican candidate Mitt Romney caused an uproar during last night’s Presidential debate with his vivid and hilariously ignorant “binders full of women” comment. But he didn’t just alienate women and men and anyone appalled by his antiquated language and attitude toward gender equality in the work place — he launched the hottest meme since Big Bird. So hot is Mitt — albeit not in the way he’d hoped prior to yesterday — he spawned the @Romneys_Binder Twitter account (14K followers and counting in half a day), the Tumblr Binders Full Of Women , and countless Tweets, Tumbls, and Photoshopped nuggets of hilarity. Let’s all have a laugh at Mittens’ silly notions about ladykind with a look at the best movie-related entries from the last 18 hours. ( via ) Say Anything … except what Romney said last night. ‘Rolling Stones Charlie Is My Darling’ Contest: Win Tickets To L.A. Screening

So, you can’t move like Jagger, but can you write a song like Jagger  and Richards ?  If you think you’ve got what it takes, you could win one of five pairs of tickets Movieline is giving away to the midnight screening of The Rolling Stones Charlie Is My Darling – Ireland 1965 documentary at Grauman’s Chinese Theater on Oct. 24. The hour-long road trip film, which was inspired by The Beatles ’ classic 1964 film  A  Hard Day’s Night , came together when the Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham hired director Peter Whitehead to shoot and music producer and engineer Glyn Johns to record the first professionally filmed concert performances of the band during a two-city tour of Ireland. The footage, which includes the first live performance of “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” caught on film, was never officially released or aired and sat largely untouched in film cans for more than 40 years. But now that it’s been rediscovered, it’s about to become available to the public.  After premiering at the New York Film Festival in September, Charlie Is My Darling — which features previously unseen performances of six complete Stones songs including “The Last Time” and “Time Is On My Side” — will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on Nov. 6. If you live in the Los Angeles area and can’t wait until next month, here’s what you need to do: Take a verse or chorus from one of your favorite Stones songs and rewrite it.  Post the original verse and the song’s title followed by your reworking in the comments section, and I’ll choose the best five submissions by 3 p.m. EST on Friday, Oct. 19. Here’s an example: “Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby (Standing in the Shadow)?” Original: Have you seen your lover, baby, standing in the shadow? Has he had another baby, standing in the shadow? Baby, where have you been all your life? Talking about all the people who should try anything twice Reworked: Have you seen your stalker, baby, standing in the shadow? Has he violated his TRO, baby, standing in the shadow? Baby, he wants to know where have you been all his life Time to hit the panic room, looks like he’s got a knife Got it?  Make sure to leave your email in the comments box, too, so if you win we can contact you with details on how to pick up your tickets. Remember, you’ve got to be able to get yourself to Grauman’s on your own steam. Now get writing, because time is not on your side. Brad Pitt: The U.S. ‘War On Drugs’ Is A ‘Charade’

Brad Pitt headed to WeHo in support of a documentary he produced and took a swipe at the decades-old war on drugs. Pitt apparently just said ‘yes’ back in the day, but said his days dabbling in illegal substances have long gone. Why We Fight director Eugene Jarecki bowed his latest The House I Live In and stopped in a West Hollywood theater for a Q&A with his super-star producer who flew in from Europe for a chat. “My drug days have long since passed,” Pitt told THR as reported by The Guardian . “But I could probably land in any American city and within 24 hours find whatever you want. But we still support this charade called the drug war. We spent a trillion dollars over 40 years and a lot of people have lost their lives over it.” Pitt felt compelled to get involved with the project which won a grand jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival in January. He said that the “subject has bugged me for a long time. It’s a backward strategy. It makes no sense and we keep going on the path like we’re winning, when it perpetuates more drugs being used.” Jarecki added his two cents and jokingly called Pitt “a drug addict,” and likened the U.S. government’s anti-drug crusade to Prohibition. “After prohibition, we regrouped and said it was a bad idea what we’re doing. Now we have a system where alcohol is illegal for children; the government profits off it; grownups can use it responsibly, which means if I go out in my car and kill some one it’s manslaughter. But if I’ve been drinking, it’s an aggravating prosecutorial factor. So why is it that drugs – which are less damaging to public health than alcohol – why is it we treat them more severely?” [ Source: The Guardian ]

Beyoncé Exits Clint Eastwood’s A Star Is Born

It looks like Clint Eastwood is facing another empty space, but this time the repercussions could hit the wallet. Beyoncé Knowles has quit his forthcoming remake of A Star is Born – and it’s even for the second time. The musical take on the well-known tale has been made three times by Hollywood. The superstar singer and actor is thought to have ended her involvement in the production due to delays in setting a start date for the film. The pic still lacks a male lead despite a three year search that has sailed through the names of a slew of top stars including Tom Cruise, Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp, Will Smith, Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, Robert Downey Jr., Eminem, Christian Bale, Jon Hamm and Bradley Cooper, according to The Guardian. This is not the first time Knowles took her leave from A Star is Born . She actually came back on board when Eastwood was named director in January last year after departing over production delays prior to the announcement. Eastwood hopes to pattern the latest Star in the vein of the 1976 version, which starred Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson, which moved the story from the film biz to the music industry. The original version filmed in 1937 starred Fredric March and Janet Gaynor as an aging Hollywood actor who takes the young budding star under his tutelage. James Mason and Judy Garland took on A Star is Born in 1954. Speculation has now turned to jazz musician Esperanza Spalding as a replacement, but Warner Bros. wants to lock down a male lead before moving on with finding Beyoncé’s replacement. Bradley Cooper was the latest in the long line of male contenders to surface as the eventual choice. One of music’s most recognizable stars, Beyoncé made a box office splash with 2006’s Dreamgirls , which took in almost $155 million worldwide. Her starring role in thriller Obsessed took in a cool $73.83 million domestically in 2009, but not all has been box office gold. Cadillac Records bombed with only $8.1 million domestically. Uwe Boll Live, Restored ‘Manos: The Hands Of Fate’ Head Indie Fest Slate

Uwe Boll is coming! Uwe Boll is coming! And what better platform could there be for his latest opus, Bailout: The Age of Greed , than an indie film festival that will also see the world premiere of a loving 2k restoration of the infamously so-bad-it’s-good Manos: The Hands of Fate ? LA’s New Beverly Cinema will play host to the Teutonic Terror this December as the enfant terrible of bad movies brings Bailout: The Age of Greed — a Wall Street thriller, naturally — to premiere at the 2012 Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival . Bailout: The Age of Greed “looks at the effects of Wall Street’s 2008 financial crisis on an average American pushed to the brink when he loses his savings and decides to take revenge.” (You might say he goes… Postal .) Dominic Purcell, Edward Furlong, Erin Karpluk, John Heard, Keith David, Michael Pare, Clint Howard, Natassia Malthe, Michael Eklund and Eric Roberts star in the film, and according to a press release they’ll all be in attendance alongside Boll at the December 3 North American premiere. I’m guessing the “entire cast and crew” won’t be there, but expect to see as many human beings as will fit on the dais of the Quentin Tarantino-associated institution. The following day on December 4 the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival will play host to another, perhaps more culturally relevant cinematic experience: The debut of a digital restoration of 1966’s Manos: The Hands of Fate , whose cult status was sealed by MST3K (see below). A Q&A will follow with Ben Solovey, the mastermind behind the 2k digital facelift, who guarantees it to be the “best print ever screened.” The best presentation of one of the worst films of all time! HRIFF is held Dec 3-10th 2012 in Los Angeles, CA and will feature over 70 films in this year’s program. For more information head here .
