My name’s Stephanie and I’m 17. My experience has to…

My name’s Stephanie and I’m 17. My experience has to do with Massey Hall and the Home for the Holidays concert. It all started when Justin first tweeted he was coming home. Muchmusic announced the concert but didn’t reveal the location. I entered every contest I could find and ended up finding out where and when the “secret” concert would be by reading the rules and regulations to the contests. The day the tickets went on sale, I was waiting on the website for about 6 hours. At 3:58 they went on sale, the site crashed and by the time I got back in it was 4:04 and the tickets were SOLD OUT. I couldn’t believe it, the one time I had money to see Justin I couldn’t. Immediatley after I went on kijiji and saw tickets posted for $600 each, mind you these tickets were $75 max and for CHARITY. Over the next few days I entered many contests, called every radio and did everything I could. Two days before the concert I got a call from MuchMusic saying I had wristbands to the next days show for a chance to win tickets. I was so excited. I got two hours of sleep that night and left at 10am for an hour long train ride. I stood outside Much from 11:30am-4pm. During that time I met a few girls, one who was so dedicated she had slept at the train station to try to get into much WITHOUT a wristband. I also met another girl named Selena (@bieberspack). They picked random names and them did a competition . I didn’t get  chosen b ut that wasn’t going to stop me. In tears I took the train home and promised the girls I had met there that I would be at Massey Hall to try to get tickets. That night Selena and I had plans to go there right after school, she wasn’t aloud to skip another day and it was too dangerous for me to travel by myself. That day I had found someone with 2 tickets selling each for $250, we had plans to meet them there. Once we got there, we saw two girls screaming running out of the venue saying they got floor seats. It turns out Massey Hall had some extras. There was a huge line from people who had been there since 8am waiting for a chance to find tickets. Around the corner of the building was security and gates flooded with people around them, I asked what was going on and people said they were waiting for Justin to arrive. I told Selena to come out of the other line and come see if we could see Justin. About 5 minutes after waiting, Scooter walks pasts us and says sorry I can’t stay and goes into the venue. About half hour later he comes out and goes the the opposite side of the group of people I was in. I’m screaming to Selena, “OH MY GOD HE’S GIVING THEM TICKETS OMG”.  Everyone was screaming his name, then out comes Scrappy. I started screaming his name and the girls in front of me ask, “Who’s that?” I just stared and ignored them (they got free tickets btw…..)  Then out comes Allison . Selena and I screamed her name as she walks toward us, she asked, “Who doesn’t have tickets”. Everyone was screaming, all I could do was cry and say, “Allison, I don’t I don’t”. I saw her give one to Selena and she turned to the next person beside her, Selena reached out and said, “My friend my friend” and she said, “Is she here?” and I said, “Yeah I’m here!”. I couldn’t see if she had given her another one, Selena turns around crying and I said, “DID YOU GET TWO?” and says yes and we both dropped to the ground crying. Everyone was pushing us saying, “Ok you got tickets go go go”. So we crossed the street to wait for Justin to come back. He pulled up about 20 minutes later. We ran to the gate and he quickly went inside hold Jazzy, signing no autographs, but that was fine with me. I was so blessed to have goten a ticket. In all I saw Jermey, Scooter, Justin, Jazzy, Fredo, Chaz, Scrappy and Kenny. I also sat infront of two of his co-writers who told me what they had in store for Justin’s future sound and how we felt about a more mature Justin. Behind us was the guy from Never Say Never, Nathan, who’s Patties friend from when she was a teen.  The concert was amazing, we had 2nd row balcony of a 2500 people venue, so we were still very close. Justin was so personal with us, took requests, brought Jazzy on stage and told stories.  A few memorable moments was when he was thanking Dan and he said after “Enough of this mushy stuff, I’m a man, I’m a 40 year old a man living at home- inside joke”. Every Belieber knows what he was referring to. He said he wanted the concert to be like a family sitting around the campfire and I can honestly say it was so intimate. You just had to be there, there was so many moments where I cried and cried. Sorry, I’m still in shock. It was the best night of my life and I’m so grateful. I’ve never truly meant this until now but #NEVERSAYNEVER.   -@stefanimunoz  Read more: My name’s Stephanie and I’m 17. My experience has to…

THROWBACK: Eric B & Rakim’s, “Paid In Full”

Continue reading here:

Words By Hafeez Raji Rarely do pioneers stay relevant some twenty-five  years after coming on the scene to redefine a genre as one William Griffin, aka Rakim bka The R. Over two decades ago my only knowledge of hip hop–or better yet “rap”–revolved literally on my first vinyl album, a compilation of the Sugar Hill Gang’s record label greatest hits featuring Grand Master Flash, Whodini, The Sugar Hill Gang and a cast of others not even worth mentioning. That album would take a back seat to the only album that mattered to me for years to come and still ranks on my top 10 of all time. Paid in Full by all accounts did what Nirvana’s Nevermind did to the music landscape back in 87 and is widely considered to every bit as influential and important as the Beatles Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band . Musically it broke open the vault to every James Brown beat ever made and all but killed the common theme of sampling disco and rock albums to create the music for hip hop artists to rhyme to. Before Rakim blessed the mic, the themes of hip hop were fairly light-hearted concentrating primarily on party themes and less thought provoking rhymes. While Run DMC was screaming about being Kings of Rock , Rakim challenged our minds and challenged emcees to put more thought and emphasis on lyrics while charting his way to being labeled God Mc. “I take 7 emcees put em in line, add 7 more brothers who think they can rhyme, it will take 7 more before I go for mine and that’s 21 emcees ate up at the same time.” – “My Melody” Few other hip-hop albums have been sampled more or listed in the top ten as Paid in Full .  Stetsasonic, Gang Starr, 2pac, NWA, Lord Finesse, Warren G, Smif-N-Wessun, Birdman, Lil Wayne, Girl Talk and so on have all sampled Paid in Full . Back in ‘87 hip-hop still had a negative view from the critics and was really thought to be a fad that would soon die. It was perceived as crude noise with no real background or foundation for credibility when compared to other genres, which at most had their ties to soul, jazz or rock. Like Punk Rock the previous decade you had a lot of acts and crew who just simply had no talent or business picking up a microphone hopping on the scene and further contributing to the assertion that the fad would soon die. Paid In Full ushered in a new era of rap by throwing out all the whack conventions and made emcees go back and rethink their careers. Almost 25 years later Rakim still ranks up there in every artists top list of  G.O.A.T. Kanye and Jay-Z may have you watching the throne but all kings and queens ( you can decide who’s who) must answer to a higher power. Paid in Full, is the best and most influential album ever made and there’s nothing wrong with coming in second to it. Maggie Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard Expecting Second Child

Couple have been together since 2002 and have a 5-year-old daughter together. By Jocelyn Vena Maggie Gyllenhaal Photo: Getty Images Actors Maggie Gyllenhaal and hubby Peter Sarsgaard are expanding their family. The couple is expecting their second child together next spring. A rep for Gyllenhaal has confirmed to Usmagazine.com that the couple’s daughter, 5-year-old Ramona, will soon have a baby brother or sister to keep her company. A source said that the actress will “be laying low for a little bit now.” In a previous interview with the magazine, Gyllenhaal admitted it’s not always easy to balance being an actress and being a mom. “I had been so focused on Ramona — and she’s been everything to me — but I’m also an actress. It’s not possible to do it perfectly,” she said. “Being a mom is so present in my mind and my work. It’s the most important thing about me, but next I’d like to play someone who’s not a mother.” Life & Style reported that the couple told friends and family about the pregnancy over the Thanksgiving holiday. Gyllenhaal first had people wondering if she was expecting when she arrived at the Rome Film Festival sporting what appeared to be a baby bump in late October. “Over Thanksgiving weekend, Maggie was telling friends that she’s six months pregnant,” a friend of the actress said. “Her bump is so big!” The friend added, “She’s thrilled to be pregnant! She and Peter have wanted another child for a while. They’re very happy that they’ll have another baby in the house soon.” The couple, together since 2002, tied the knot in 2009 in Italy. As for uncle Jake Gyllenhaal , the friend tells Life & Style that he’s really excited to be an uncle again. “Jake is so happy that she’s pregnant again because he loves kids. Maggie’s said that he’s the best uncle and has done a lot of sweet things for her first child.”

Let’s Title Ethan Hawke’s Proposed Before Sunset Follow-Up

The actor and his collaborators Julie Delpy and Richard Linklater could be coming back: “Well, I don’t know what we’re going to do but I know the three of us have been talking a lot in the last six months. All of three of us have been having similar feelings that we’re ready to revisit those characters. There’s nine years between the first two movies and, if we made the film next summer, it would be nine years again so we’re really started thinking that would be a good thing to do. We’re going to try write it this year.” Hmm. Twilight ? [ Allocine via The Playlist ]
