Looks like that first steamy image from Brian DePalma’s femme thriller Passion was just the tip of the erotic iceberg! New images from the film have emerged from Cannes , where the film is seeking buyers, showing more of stars Rachel McAdams as a businesswoman and Noomi Rapace as her assistant, who become locked in a deadly power struggle that will involve lingerie, showers, and kinky masks. If these pics don’t get this movie sold, I don’t know what will. Passion is a remake of the 2010 French film Love Crime , which starred Kristen Scott Thomas and Ludivine Sagnier; it’s DePalma’s first film since 2007’s Redacted , and judging from the stir the first image has created, should mark a return to DePalma’s wheelhouse. And, really: Has there been a single film still in recent memory as immediately enthralling and dangerous and seductive as the Passion mask shot below? Sign me up. The new images were posted to the film’s Facebook page (via The Playlist and De Palma A La Mod ), which adds this synopsis: The offices of a prominent multinational corporation is the setting for this story of a power struggle between two contemporary women. Isabelle has unlimited admiration for her direct superior, Christine, a woman well-schooled in the ways of power. Christine enjoys holding sway over Isabelle, leads her one step at a time and ever more deeply into a game of seduction and manipulation, of dominance and servitude. The game is played for keeps, and there is no turning back. [via The Playlist ]

Films from Robert Pattinson (‘Cosmopolis’) and Kristen Stewart (‘On the Road’) have us pumped, along with eight others. By Kevin P. Sullivan Robert Pattinson in “Cosmopolis” Photo: Alfama Films Hollywood is officially headed to the French Riviera for the 65th Cannes Film Festival, which kicks off Wednesday. With so much of the attention Stateside focused squarely on the “Rob and Kristen Factor,” we thought it would be helpful to take a look at the lineup and share the films we are most excited about at the upcoming festival. Here are our top 10 most anticipated movies at the Cannes Film Festival: 10. “The Paperboy” This adaptation of the Peter Dexter novel marks Lee Daniels’ first film since making it big on the indie scene with “Precious.” “The Paperboy” promises a different direction for Daniels, telling the story of a reporter (John Cusack) who travels back to his home town to investigate a death-row case. 9. “Reality” Director Matteo Garrone made waves at Cannes in 2008 with his hyper-real look at Neapolitan organized crime, “Gomorrah,” which won the Grand Jury Prize that year. For this year’s festival, he returns with “Reality,” a look at the way we perceive life since the dawn of reality television. 8. “Cosmopolis” Robert Pattinson’s name alone has drawn much attention to this in-competition film, but the true nature of its intrigue lies with its director, David Cronenberg. With his adaptation of Don DeLillo’s novel, Cronenberg, with the help of Pattinson, of course, looks to be revisiting the bizarre aesthetics and subject matters that made him famous in the 1980s. We’ve been waiting for this one ever since it won the MTV Movie Brawl 2012 back in January. 7. “Like Someone in Love” “Certified Copy,” the previous film from Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami, earned Juliette Binoche a best actress award at Cannes in 2010, but the film itself is one of the best examples of pure art-house filmmaking in the past few years. With “Like Someone in Love,” Kiarostami shifts his focus from Italy to Japan but keeps the same entry point of a man and a woman who may or may not know each other. 6. “Amour” “The White Ribbon,” Michael Haneke’s previous film tangentially about the saplings of fascism in Germany, wowed audiences on the Croisette in 2009, and “Amour” seems poised to do the same. The film tells the story of Georges and Anne, an octogenarian couple whose bond comes under strain after one of them suffers an attack. 5. “On the Road” Similar to “Cosmopolis,” “On the Road” has drawn a great deal of attention because it features a “Twilight” star, in this case Kristen Stewart, but she only makes up an element of this insanely star-studded Jack Kerouac adaptation, which also stars Sam Riley, Garrett Hedlund, Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen and Terrence Howard. 4. “Lawless” Formerly known as “Wettest County,” this Southern-set prohibition crime film boasts a cast featuring Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, Jessica Chastain, Gary Oldman and Guy Pearce and a critical darling of a director, John Hillcoat. The recently released trailer looks strong, and Hillcoat’s pedigree alone (his previous films include “The Proposition” and “The Road”) make this a must-see for the festival. 3. “Rust and Bone” A film about a whale trainer who loses a leg to an orca doesn’t necessary seem like Palme d’Or material, but “Rust and Bone” comes from director Jacques Audiard, who took the Grand Jury Prize in 2009 with the impressive “A Prophet,” and it stars Marion Cotillard as the unfortunate trainer. 2. “Killing Them Softly” It wouldn’t be surprising if you haven’t seen “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” but it would certainly be unfortunate. The western starring Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck debuted and left theaters quietly, but since 2007, the film has slowly gained a reputation as a modern classic. As director Andrew Dominik’s first film since “Jesse James,” “Killing Them Softly” stands out as both his reunion with Pitt and his much-anticipated follow-up. 1. “Mud” A writer/director may take a few films to nail down their voice and storytelling identity, but with his first two movies, Jeff Nichols has not only established himself as a serious filmmaker, but also one of the most exciting auteurs working today. Those films, “Shotgun Stories” and “Take Shelter,” are two genuine masterpieces of American filmmaking, and we look forward to his third feature film “Mud,” starring Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon. ‘It’s crazy, but it’s good,’ actress tells MTV News at film’s London premiere. By Fallon Prinzivalli, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kristen Stewart Photo: MTV News Kristen Stewart is throwing away her damsel-in-distress image and taking up arms against the evil queen, Ravenna (Charlize Theron), in “Snow White and the Huntsman.” In her sword-wielding debut, Stewart leads the fight to reclaim the kingdom from Ravenna, and with that comes an inspiring call to arms. When the actress spoke to MTV News at the London premiere of the upcoming film, she revealed her concerns about pulling off the speech credibly. “We saved it until the very last day, actually,” she said. “We re-wrote it every single day of the shoot. Me and [director] Rupert [Sanders] had it in our back pocket the entire time. Ultimately, I don’t think that it makes a whole lot of sense, but it feels right. Do you know what I mean? It’s very up-in-the-air; it’s very subjective until the very end. Until some — I don’t want to give anything away, but until the very obvious line. It’s so Bravehearty. It’s crazy, but it’s good. It’s good.” Judging by the screaming that greeted Stewart when she hit the red carpet, it doesn’t seem like her fame is about to die down anytime soon, even with “The Twilight Saga” nearing its end. In fact, the actress said that the fans at the “Snow White” premiere reminded her of past “Twilight” crowds. “It feels very similar actually,” she said. “I was expecting it to be — not smaller — just, I didn’t think it would be like this.” And even though Stewart has yet to see boyfriend Robert Pattinson in “Cosmopolis,” she revealed he’s already seen her in action as the revamped Disney princess. “He likes it. He really likes it. It’s cool. It’s good. I’m really proud of it,” she said. As she should be, since the actress’ transformation into a rousing action star makes this film one of the most highly anticipated movies of the summer. So how exactly will she wind down after a successful premiere? In true Kristen Stewart fashion, the actress replied, “I love what I’m wearing, but I’m going to take this thing off, first off. [I’ll] probably get into some jeans.” Audiences can see Stewart don armor and chainmail when “Snow White and the Huntsman” hits theaters June 1. ‘All I’ve heard is that it’s very scandalous, to say the least,’ Dobrev tells MTV News of the best-selling book. By Jocelyn Vena Nina Dobrev Photo: MTV News Nina Dobrev hasn’t read the best-selling “Fifty Shades of Grey” just yet, but with every young starlet’s name floating around as a possible contender for the female lead, literature student Anastasia Steele , she might want to start reading up. “All I’ve heard is that it’s very scandalous, to say the least,” the “Vampire Diaries” star told MTV News. “I haven’t read it, but who knows? I mean, well, I guess we’ll have to see.” Fans of the erotic trilogy might not mind seeing Dobrev get her S&M on with her “Diaries” co-star Ian Somerhalder in the big-screen adaptation of the E L James book. But she confessed that if she does play the part, she wouldn’t want to have Somerhalder playing the millionaire beau, Christian Grey . “I don’t know if that’s a good idea,” she said. “I think it’s best for any of the actors on the ‘Vampire Diaries’ to kind of do their own things … and create new characters. And as much as you try when you shoot a movie, if it’s two of the same people, the fans will always see you as … they’ll see me as Elena and they’ll see him as Damon if we do a film together.” So, that means “Fifty” fans will only get either Dobrev or Somerhalder if either gets cast in the film. And Dobrev is most certainly rooting for him. “I think it would be better [if] either he should get it or I should get it,” she said. “I know that apparently he’s really great for the role, so I hope that he gets it.” Given how sexy the book is, casting might not be the only challenge. Some fans are wondering how they can adapt the highly charged sex scenes for an R-rated version of the film . “Making this movie will absolutely be a challenge. It is going to take a devoted director who admittedly likes the books and understands that, first and foremost, this is a love story,” Lisa Parker from FiftyShadesFilm.com told MTV News. “If telling the love story is the main focus, then we do believe the steamy sex scenes can be shot and edited in a way to get us an R-rated movie rather than NC-17 … [the fans] are confident that Ms. James will protect the integrity of her story regardless of the ultimate rating.” Who would you like to see cast in the film version of “Fifty Shades of Grey”? Tell us in the comments.

Dark Shadows opens in theaters today, and although Mr. Skin Nudity Hall-of-Famer Eva Green co-stars as wicked witch Angelique, don’t expect nude sparks to fly. Eva gets it on with Johnny Depp in Tim Burton ‘s first-ever attempt at a sex scene, but she says the favorite filmmaker of teenage Goths everywhere isn’t the best at creating onscreen steam: ” We kept making fun of it, saying it looks like two, uhm, puppets making love, kind of wooden and very tame. It’s Ken and Barbie making love ,” she told reporters while on a press tour for the film. We think you’re a doll, Eva, but that’s not exactly what we had in mind. So skip the skin-free Dark Shadows and check out this free-spirited French fox’s more SKINful moments with our Eva Green: Naked and Sexy and Mother/Daughter Nudity: Marlene Jobert and Eva Green playlists right here at MrSkin.com!
Johnny Depp likely has a lock on the weekend’s new releases with Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows . The movie is set for 3,700 screens. No other new release comes close, but there are nevertheless plenty of other limited roll-outs that may make their way in a theater near you. Check a few of them out in this weekend’s new-release roundup. Dark Shadows (Opening Wide) Director Tim Burton Writers: Seth Grahame-Smith (screenplay), John August & Seth Grahame-Smith (story), Dan Curtis (television series) Cast: Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Green, Helena Bonham Carter, Chloe Grace Moretz, Bella Heathcote Comedy/Fantasy/Thriller Distributor: Warner Bros In 1750 parents Joshua and Naomi Collins set sail to start a new life in America from England with their young son Barnabas. Two centuries later, Barnabas is freed from his tomb and emerges in 1972 to meet his descendants. The Cup (Limited Release) Director: Simon Wincer Writers: Simon Wincer, Eric O’Keefe Cast: Bryan Martin, Stephen Curry, Jodi Gordon Drama Distributor: Myriad Pictures The film centers on horse race, the Melbourne Cup, described as a “race that stops a nation.” Held the first Tuesday in November, no other Melbourne Cup had as much significance as the 2002 edition. Australians sought refuge in the race held three weeks after terrorist bombings in Bali killed scores of their countrymen. And a grieving jockey’s courage in the face of his own loss gave Australians a lot more than a race. (Based on a true story). Girl in Progress (Limited Release) Director: Patricia Riggen Writer: Hiram Martinez Cast: Eva Mendes, Cierra Ramirez Comedy/Drama Distributor: Lionsgate, Pantelion Films A single mom, Grace is busy juggling work, bills and a certain Dr. Hartford to give her daughter Ansiedad enough attention. The young girl gets introduced to classic coming-of-age stories by her English teacher and she decides to forget adolescence and get on with life without her mother. While mom is consumed by the affections of her co-worker, Ansiedad gets help from her friend to segue her to ‘adulthood.’ God Bless America (Limited Release) Director: Bobcat Goldthwait Writer: Bobcat Goldthwait Cast: Joel Murray, Tara Lynne Barr, Mackenzie Brooke Smith Comedy/Thriller Distributor: Magnolia Pictures/Magnet On a mission to rid society of its most repellent citizens, terminally ill Frank makes an unlikely accomplice in 16-year-old Roxy. ” It’s wild and over the top but has a big heart as well,” Magnet releasing exec Matt Cowal commented about the film. “There’s a lot of viewers that are going to have a really good time indulging in their own pet peeves which [director] Bobcat revels in.” Viewers will get a better look at actor Joel Murray said Cowell who noted, “One of the strong aspects of the movie is Joel Murray. He’s a strong actor and I think he’s under-utilized. He’s what gives the film grounded. He gives it heart as he’s on a killing spree.” In Alison Wilmore’s Movieline review of the film , however, she notes: “Goldthwait’s latest effort, an overly bleak film ready to write off the world and go down in a blaze of gunfire, both middle fingers raised.” Nobody Else But You (Limited Release) Director: Gérald Hustache-Mathieu Writers: Gérald Hustache-Mathieu, Juliette Sales Cast: Jean-Paul Rouve, Sophie Quinton, Guillaume Gouix Foreign Distributor: First Run Features The film centers on a crime novelist who travels to the countryside to investigate the mysterious “suicide” of a woman who thought she was the reincarnation of Marilyn Monroe. “It’s not a thriller, but I would describe in in the vein of a Coen Bros. film in that it’s offbeat and clever,” said First Run exec Marc Mauceri. “It’s not rocket science. [The film] harkens back to Marilyn Monroe and [its promotional material] is reminiscent of Marilyn calendars of the ’50s.” Portrait of Wally (Limited Release) Director: Andrew Shea Documentary Distributor: Seventh Art Releasing Director Andrew Shea relays the tortured history of Egon Schiele’s celebrated painting (pictured at top), which was stolen by the Nazis in 1939 and spent more than a decade in legal limbo after it turned up “on loan” to the Museum of Modern Art in 1997. ” Portrait of Wally isn’t just about stolen art,” wrote critic John Anderson in Variety . “It’s about cultural skulduggery, political sleaze, institutional hypocrisy and the virtues of persistence.” Wally recently premiered to a sold-out crowd as a special presentation at the Tribeca Film Festival . The Road (Limited Release) Director: Yam Laranas Writers: Aloy Adlawan, Yam Laranas Foreign/Horror Distributor: Freestyle Releasing A 12 year-old case is re-opened when three teens become missing somewhere on an abandoned road. During the course of the investigation, more and more gruesome stories of abduction and murder are unearthed. And after 20 years, the secret of the haunted road may finally be revealed. Tonight You’re Mine (Limited Release) Tonight You’re Mine Director: David Mackenzie Writers: Thomas Leveritt Cast: Luke Treadaway, Natalia Tena, Mathew Baynton Comedy Distributor: Roadside Attractions (theatrical) Set at Scotland’s music festival “T in the Park,” two feuding rock stars get handcuffed together for 24 hours where they’re supposed to perform. Originally titled You Instead , U.S. distributor Roadside Attractions head Howard Cohen called the film actually a “love story set against the Coachella of Scotland.” Cohen said the film is ripe for both cinephile and music fans in the 20s to 30s range. The film opens in New York and Los Angeles. Where Do We Go Now? (Limited Release) Director: Nadine Labaki Writers: Thomas Bidegain, Nadine Labaki, Jihad Hojeily, Sam Mounier Cast: Claude Baz Moussawbaa, Leyla Hakim, Nadine Labaki Foreign Distributor: Sony Pictures Classics The feature revolves around a group of Lebanese women determined to protect their isolated mine-encircled community from outside forces that threaten to destroy it from within. It’s one of those well-made films that’s also so vastly entertaining.” In her Movieline review , Stephanie Zacherek notes: “…its occasional entertainment value aside, the picture is also blithe to the point of being flimsy.” [Comments and other portions of this article were previously published in Brian Brooks’ weekly specialty preview article on Deadline .]
