[1] An obnoxious first trailer generally isn’t a good sign for a movie, and after that first one [2] hit I would’ve been perfectly content to see no more of McG’s romantic action comedy This Means War. But nine (non-consecutive) minutes of the film have just been released, and surprisingly, they actually look better than the two or so we’ve already seen. Chris Pine and Tom Hardy star as best friends… Broadcasting platform : Allocine Source : /Film Discovery Date : 02/02/2012 23:32 Number of articles : 2

New ‘Hunger Games’ Trailer: Five Key Scenes

MTV News takes a closer look at the latest sneak peek. By Kara Warner Jennifer Lawrence in “The Hunger Games” Photo: Lionsgate Anytime we see anything new from “The Hunger Games,” it’s like Christmas came early around here. On Thursday (February 2), we were gifted with a brand-new teaser trailer for the film, which is set to air on Super Bowl Sunday. The one-minute spot features some familiar elements shown in the first full-length trailer , but there are also several juicy new items to look out for. Here are the five key scenes in the new “Hunger Games” teaser: Silver-Tongued Caesar Flickerman Finally, we’re starting to get sneak peeks at more key “Hunger Games” players. In this case, we get a good long look at (and listen to) Stanley Tucci as sweet-talking official “Games” interviewer Caesar Flickerman. Think of an over-caffeinated, duplicitous Matt Lauer, if you will. Flickerman’s job is to get the tributes to open up to him and “perform” for the Capitol audience. There is a perfect example in the teaser, as Tucci-as-Flickerman asks Katniss a loaded, personal question: “What did you say to your sister when you volunteered at the reaping?” “I told her I would try to win for her,” Katniss answers sincerely. “And try you will,” Flickerman adds with dramatic intonation in his voice, before bending down and kissing Katniss’ hand. Katniss Gives Prim The Mockingjay Pin For the book lovers out there, yes, this scene is different from how Suzanne Collins wrote it in the book, but it makes sense in the emotional context of the film. We see Katniss give her little sister a mockingjay pin and say, “As long as you have it, nothing bad will happen to you, I promise.” This is significant because the mockingjay is seen as a rebellious symbol to the Capitol. It should also be familiar to fans who’ve read the books, as the symbol graces the cover of “The Hunger Games.” Cinna’s Secret Gift This one relates to the opening scene of the teaser. Just before Katniss is sent up to the arena for the start of the Games, her intuitive stylist Cinna (Lenny Kravitz) pulls out the mockingjay pin that she gave her sister back in District 12 and pins it underneath Katniss’ jacket. It’s a powerful moment, in that it shows how in tune Cinna is with his tribute and that he believes in her strength, along with the fact that Prim somehow sent it along, because Katniss promised her that “nothing bad will happen” to her if she wears it. Katniss in Her Yellow Dress Again, this one is for our fellow readers of the book, but holy cow, they show Katniss in her yellow dress! It’s a very brief moment, but a loaded one. Without going into spoilers, because there are more than a few surrounding this particular look, the yellow dress Katniss wears is her most innocent-looking. Cinna designed it to showcase the softer side of the “girl on fire,” and the color was to be more like candlelight than flames. More President Snow And Effie Trinket We’ll take as many teases of the supporting players as possible, like the brief glimpse we get of Donald Sutherland’s likely first scene in the movie as President Snow. “Welcome! And Happy Hunger Games!” he says via a big-screen monitor transmitting the opening of the games from the Capitol. His voice has the perfect amount of gravitas and disturbing excitement for the upcoming bloodbath. And the puffiness of his white hair only adds to his menacing-but-stately look. Plus, we get a little more from uppity type-A escort Effie Trinkett, who eats up anything and everything official from the Capitol. “I just love that!” she says breathily after President Snow kicks off the reapings. Head to MTV’s NextMovie for a chance to win a “Hunger Games” prize pack, including two tickets to the premiere! Eva Green on Perfect Sense, Dark Shadows and Love in the Time of Calamity

She can put “Bond girl extraordinaire” on her resume and describes her character in the forthcoming Dark Shadows as a “bawdy Barbie,” but between those two roles Eva Green is a woman holding on for dear life during a global pandemic in Perfect Sense . In David Mackenzie’s romantic drama, Green plays an epidemiologist struggling to track and contain a series of mass-scale maladies. Acute emotional states like unexplained sadness cause the human race to gradually lose the ability to taste, smell, hear and see, leading to more than a few mood swings. Amid catastrophe, though, the pieces are finally falling into place for Green’s Susan: She’s found love and a rock to lean on in Michael (Ewan McGregor), a chef with just a splash of bad-boy. It’s this love story that Green is most in touch with, and what drew her to the film in the first place. The emotional and, it must be said, super-steamy scenes between Green and McGregor halt the chaos and serve as a reminder that we should always stop to smell the roses, even if we technically can’t. Movieline talked to Green about her career path, love vs. calamity and Tim Burton fostering collaboration on Dark Shadows . How have you gone about choosing roles since being a Bond girl? You know, I’ve always liked characters that are complex, and even the Bond girl that I played was a complicated character, and intelligent. And you know, I always like complicated, interesting characters. Yeah, Vesper was the ultimate Bond girl. Yeah, I think so. But it was nice because there was a love story in [Casino Royale]. Not like a cliche, but a real human being. What made you connect with the Perfect Sense script? I really enjoyed the love story when I read it. I thought it was kind of a brave, unusual story. Thought-provoking, but also very romantic. But with a public panic angle. A few years ago, Blindness was adapted to film, and I don’t know if you read about this but there was recently a documented case of mass hysteria among a group of girls. What is it about stories like this that we find so compelling? I would say that, in this film, people come together. There’s an urgency. It’s very dramatic. Everybody has to become hungry for each other. You know, you have to seize the moment, seize the day and tackle the enemy, like we say, and what matters in life is love. Sounds very cheesy, but it’s true. People come together and still cling to each other after the loss of everything. The character you play suffers grief and heartache so deeply, and that’s even before the world goes haywire. Did you find it exhausting to portray this woman? Oh, no. I kind of identify with her. She’s quite normal. She was unlucky, and a bit damaged, and came out of a hard relationship. And the character that Ewan played was also damaged, but little by little she opens up to him and allows herself to be vulnerable and honest with him, and falls in love with him. I don’t see this film as something dark or dramatic because there’s a catastrophe. It’s also that she’s kind of awakened, weirdly. It’s a bit late because the senses are disappearing, but she is becoming, I don’t know how you would say it, but more human. Yeah, I think the opposite is true, too. She experiences happiness pretty deeply, and there were also some moments of levity, like the bathtub scene with Ewan. Yeah, that was fun to shoot, eating soap. And the flowers. I had to eat flowers in another scene. And toothpaste and lipstick. Lovely. Then you moved to Dark Shadows , playing another woman who’s had her heart ripped out. Oh, it’s a very different character. She’s an extreme character, completely obsessed with a man [laughs], and will do absolutely anything to get him, to own him. She looks like Barbie, but a bawdy Barbie. She’s a big character, and lots of fun to play, that’s for sure. Did you feel like you were coming in to an already formed family? Tim Burton and some of the other cast collaborate all the time. How did you mesh? Tim is very normal, and he is extremely open to suggestions, which is a luxury. He wanted me to feel as comfortable as possible. It was a real collaboration, which is very rare, and he was very kind, very creative, very supportive and we really got on. Is it true you almost took the role in Antichrist that went to Charlotte Gainsbourg? Yeah. Why did you decide against it? Oh, it’s hard to say. I didn’t agree with everything the director wanted me to do. Do you think you’ll work with Lars Von Trier eventually? I don’t know. I think he’s a genius, and Melancholia is a beautiful movie. I hope so, but we’ll see. Perfect Sense opens Feb. 10 in limited release.

Though Timberlake won’t be singing alongside Eastwood, he will get the chance to croon in the Coen brothers flick. The music is being written and produced by the likes of the Punch Brothers, T-Bone Burnett and Marcus Mumford. “It’s folk from the ’60s — old songs passed down for many generations — but new takes on them,” Isaac said. “Obviously we have the hindsight of now and so we kind of revisit these old songs. They’re hopeful and beautiful and in contrast [to] the life of a folk singer, which is not very beautiful at all. It’s very drab and dire. It’s a screwball comedy.” Will you be seeing “Trouble With the Curve”? Leave your comment below. Taylor Lautner’s Post-‘Twilight’ Career: What’s Next?

Now that ‘Stretch Armstrong’ is off Lautner’s schedule, ‘Twilight’ Tuesday takes a closer look at the young actor’s future. By Kara Warner Taylor Lautner Photo: Jeff Kravitz/Film Magic Now that we’ve had a day or so to digest the news that “Twilight” star Taylor Lautner will not be gracing the big screen as super bendy, slightly superheroic Stretch Armstrong , it’s time to turn the focus of this week’s “Twilight” Tuesday toward analyzing this latest development in Lautner’s post-Jacob career. Word on the street is that Lautner dropped out of the film due to scheduling conflicts, but exactly what conflicts he may or may not have are the mystery. Last we heard, the teen heartthrob was in talks with Oscar winner Gus Van Sant to make a small-budget film based on a nonfiction article from The New Yorker. A quieter role in a more indie film could be just what Lautner needs post-“Twilight.” “He’s got the right determination and ambition to continue on, even through bumps in the road,” IMDb Managing Editor Keith Simanton told MTV News of Lautner’s staying power. “Someone he reminds me a little bit of is Hayden Christenson. People make fun of him and have never seen his performance in ‘Shattered Glass,’ and he’s also very good in ‘Life as a House.’ Because the only thing people know him from are big movies, the franchises that are in some ways an albatross in the way of a career.” Boxoffice.com ‘s Phil Contrino suggested that Lautner focus on more grown-up projects with big-name, respected directors. “He can, and most likely will, rebound. The key to his success will be picking the right directors to work with,” Contrino said. “He needs to stay away from teen-skewing flicks and go for adult, like Robert Pattinson is doing by working with David Cronenberg .” Lautner reportedly dropped out of the superhero film “Max Steel” and extreme-flying flick “Northern Lights” to make room for “Stretch,” which means he has plenty of time from now until next November to do a film before the promo machine kicks back into gear for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.” And then there’s the adaptation of the popular YA novel “Incarceron,” which Lautner was circling in its development stages the last time we checked in with him. What should Taylor Lautner do next? Tweet @karawarner to sound off on this week’s “Twilight” Tuesday! ‘Chronicle’ Rooted In ‘Complete Reality,’ Stars Say

‘It’s a movie about what would actually happen if teenagers got superpowers,’ Dane DeHaan tells MTV News. By Kara Warner Dane DeHaan in “Chronicle” Photo: Alan Markfield/ 20th Century Fox In the buzzworthy action/drama hybrid “Chronicle,” out Friday, three friends’ lives are forever changed when they encounter an otherworldly substance and structure that somehow gives them extraordinary abilities. The movie is shot mostly via the “found footage” or “POV” format and revolves around high school students Andrew (Dane DeHaan), Matt (Alex Russell) and Steve (Michael B. Jordan). When MTV News caught up with the three stars of the film recently, we asked them to explain how “Chronicle” is different from every other superpower and found-footage film out there. “It’s a movie about what would actually happen if teenagers got superpowers,” DeHaan said. “And I think that, for the first time, it deals with that issue in modern day in complete reality, which is the person who gets the superpowers probably won’t be the best person in the world and only want to save other people in the world from their problems.” “From the beginning, you’re invested in Andrew and Steve and Matt,” Jordan added. “It’s not just, ‘What monster is going to be popping out of this building?’ You really follow the characters throughout the movie and care what happens to them.” Because the audience spends so much time getting to know the three main characters, Russell said it makes for an especially intense thrill ride when the boys discover just how powerful they are and things start to spiral out of control. “It’s action-packed, it’s incredible in that way, but it in no way relies on that,” Russell said of the film’s impressive effects and aerial stunt work. “The characters are very layered, the relationships are complex and beautiful, and something you get really invested in it, and I think that makes it hit home so much harder when things start to go awry.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Chronicle.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
