Comic-Con: The Expendables 2 is "Bigger and Better"

The Expendables 2 packs a power-punch of action rough ’em up characters including Sylvester Stallone, Jean-Claude Van Dame, Jet Li, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Liam Hemsworth. In their second outting, Mr. Church reunites the group for what should be an easy paycheck, but things go wrong when one of their men is murdered on the job. Revenge is on their minds, but that puts them in enemy territory up against an unexpected threat. The film hits theaters later this year, but Beyond The Trailer host Grace Randolph received some insider impressions of the new pic courtesy of cast members Terry Crews, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture at Comic-Con. One star gushes about the second installment’s “bigger and better” goods.

Channing Tatum Eyes a Magic Mike 2

Magic Mike has already scored just under $78 million at the box office since its release in late June and the production budget was only $7 million. Minus the marketing budget, the stripper feature has likely already packaged a hefty sum. But never mind the money, there’s plenty of skin to be had, so why not let the strip show go on? Actors flexing their hot bods is a winning formula, and Tatum teased recently that another round of Magic Mike is in the early stages. In a Twitter interview with Glamour magazine, Tatum said this when asked about a possible Magic Mike 2 : “Yes, yes and yes! We’re working on the concept now. We want to flip the script and make it bigger.” Bigger? hmmm… Tatum didn’t provide much more in the way of details including whether director Steven Soderbergh has signed on for the follow-up or if co-stars Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello and the rest of the cast will be donning the thong for a second round. He did offer up some insight in the making of the first Mike , however, saying that wearing a thong in front of people is “awkward,” adding, “I don’t know how you girls do it.” He also said in the Twitter back-and-forth that Joe Manganiello’s body was the most impressive. “He looks like he’s from Spartan blood!” said Tatum, referring to the war-waging city from Greek antiquity. He also said Manganiello and McConaughey were “a toss up” in the top stripping talent category. Tatum also shared that during McConaughey’s dance, the build-up was so intense that some women in the audience took matters into their own hands. “The women lost their minds and ripped his thong off,” he said. DVD extra anyone? In non-related Tatum news, it was revealed yesterday that Tatum is in negotiations to star and produce a film about 1970s-era daredevil Evel Knievel. “I did a belly flop from a really high bridge,” Tatum offered up when asked about the biggest stunt he’s pulled off. “That was one of the more painful things I’ve done!” [Source: Glamour ]

Watch an Episode of Klown Written by Lars Von Trier

The epically awkward, debauched Danish sitcom Klovn , wich is soon coming to the United States as the epically awkward, debauched Danish feature-length comedy Klown , currently has restored an episode online written by the epically awkward , debauched Danish filmmaker Lars von Trier. What could go wrong? So much , actually. Have a look and find out. Revived from the series’ second season by the movie’s US distributor Drafthouse Films, the episode (titled “It’s a Jungle Down There”) finds the notorious Frank and Casper “taking interest in a masturbation class and their persistent infiltration of these very private sessions.” It seems safe enough for work, I guess, unless everyone at your work speaks Danish, in which case rally them ’round and kick off early! What the hell, we’re technically passed the midweek point by now. It might as well be Friday. Klown debuts July 27 in limited theatrical release as well as on VOD and digitally.

Film Plans Nazi-Babe March in FUBAR’d Comic-Con Publicity Stunt

An amusing-looking (and harmless) independent film called Iron Sky is hoping to make some noise at Comic-Con. The noise they’ve picked is that of goose-stepping — a publicity march of hot women dressed as pseudo-Nazis marching around the convention this Saturday. And you can hashtag your pics, too! Iron Sky is a Grindhouse -y tale about Nazi descendents (led by Udo Keir!) living on the far side of the Moon , poised to invade Sarah Palin’s America. A little campy, but it’s in good enough fun, plus the special effects look remarkable for a low budget affair. So far my grandparents aren’t spinning in their grave. Oh, wait, my grandparents don’t have graves. They were incinerated. Anyway, Saturday at the Con, the producers of Iron Sky invite you to “Catch the hot Iron Sky army girls marching in full formation for photo ops in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter and outside the Convention Center Concourse.” Catch the hot IRON SKY army girls marching in full formation for photo ops in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter and outside the Convention Center Concourse on Saturday, July 14th from 8:30am to 7:00pm! Tweet your photo with the IRON SKY babe army #IronSky #ComicCon #SDCC and come visit the film’s official booth on the convention floor to claim your prize! Prove you found our army by showing us your photo on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram and win some sweet IRON SKY swag! The Iron Sky trailer: A publicist confirms that Iron Sky ‘s “Army Girls” will, in fact, be dressed like the female character on the film’s poster – a Nazi invader played by actress Julia Dietze – and are meant to evoke the lost band of Aryans who, in the film, used rocket technology to wait out the post-war years. (Wernher von Braun you have some splainin’ to do!) Now, I’ve no doubt that the film’s producers aren’t dumb enough to have a gaggle of Eva Brauns jackbooting outside the Hilton Bayfront Hotel – surely the swastikas and Death’s Heads will be kept to a minimum. (A representative of distributor Entertainment One tells Movieline the Iron Sky marchers will be wearing military costumes, with armbands similar to the one in the poster bearing the film’s title treatment in lieu of a swastika/logo.) But if these babes lining up for TwitPics are actually secret “in-Universe” Space Nazis, isn’t that just a little bit creepy? And maybe the obfuscation makes it even worse? Maybe the CSU-Bakersfield dropouts who answered a Craigslist ad for “women with hairstyles that can be pinned to look 1940s/also likes crowds” will have no idea that the costumes they’ll be handed actually represents, you know, genocide? I mean, I get it. It’s the sort of marketing idea you spitball in a meeting, then, hopefully, someone quickly comes to their senses and says “Naaaaah.” I suppose we’ll just have to take a wait and see. I’ll be on the scene in San Diego, wondering where my sense of humor and sense of decency intersects. Follow Jordan Hoffman on Twitter . Follow Movieline on Twitter .

Twilight Fan Hit By Car, Killed Outside Comic-Con

Be safe this week at Comic-Con, folks — according to reports out of San Diego, a 53-year-old woman who had been camping out with fellow Twilight fans ahead of Breaking Dawn ‘s Thursday panel was struck and killed by a car while crossing the street near Hall H. “Police said she was in a crosswalk and tried to run across Harbor about 9:20 a.m. She tried to stop when she saw an oncoming Subaru but ended up tripping into the car,” reports the San Diego Union-Tribune . The Examiner ‘s Amanda Bell has more on the identity of the woman, known as Gisella G., whose death has shaken the Twilight community and those on the ground at Comic-Con. Police closed off portions of Harbor Blvd. this morning following the accident. The death lends a somber mood to the event, which runs Thursday through Sunday, as thousands pour into downtown San Diego. Police and security are typically omnipresent inside and around the convention center directing foot traffic around the busy surrounding street and train crossings; take this as a reminder to be patient and safe around town — and be extra nice to those Twi-hards. WATCH: The Dark Knight Rises Teases 13 Minute Behind the Scenes Featurette

The first reviews of The Dark Knight Rises won’t hit for at least another week, but Warner Bros. keeps putting out tantalizing looks at the Chris Nolan-directed trilogy-ender. If you’re one of the legions of Bat-curious fans out there hungry for new peeks at the superhero finale, you’ll find a host of new images and behind-the-scenes footage in a newly released 13-minute featurette for The Dark Knight Rises . Go ahead, treat yo’ self. Nolan, producers Chuck Roven and Emma Thomas, and stars Christian Bale , Anne Hathaway , and Tom Hardy among others pop up in the featurette to add their observations from the set (many nuggets of which made their way into the 50-page production notes recently unveiled online). In the clip, Nolan calls TDKR a story of “the elemental conflict between good and evil,” before the piece goes on to explore the moral battle lines drawn in the flick and where each of its characters stand. Among the more interesting tidbits: Nolan’s description of his superhero pic as his way of harkening back to the silent film era and the epic scale filmmaking of olde: massive sets, armies of extras, spectacle cinema at its burliest. Watch as Nolan gives direction thousands of feet in the air to four stunt men dangling from a piece of airborne fuselage, or builds a fake football field on top of Pittsburgh’s Heinz Field for that impressive destruction sequence, or orchestrates a full-on Wall Street brawl, and you see the kind of experience he’s talking about. The Dark Knight Rises rises on July 20.
