Robert Pattinson’s Edward ‘Becomes A Man’ In ‘Breaking Dawn’

Director Bill Condon says ‘Twilight’ star deftly tackles finale’s most emotional scenes. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson Photo: Summit Entertainment “Twilight” fans who’ve already read the best-selling books upon which the films are based have a sense of what to expect from the final two films when they hit theaters. Specifically, what emotional ups and downs will unfold onscreen, and which characters will be most impacted. “Breaking Dawn” director Bill Condon recently revealed to MTV News what he predicts will be the most emotional moments in the final installments. He also opened up about how stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have tackled the acting challenges presented to their characters, Bella and Edward. ( Spoilers ahead for those who haven’t read the books.) “There’s this really quiet moment when Bella discovers that she’s pregnant and Edward leaves the room having said, ‘Carlisle will get that thing out of you,’ ” Condon recalled, “and she realizes, ‘Oh my god, I’ve got trouble ahead.’ “Edward, the person she’s been longing for all this time is actually on the other side of this very basic issue about this baby that’s growing inside of her, and she puts all that aside and she turns and she has a moment where she catches herself in this mirror. It’s actually a scene, just Kristen alone, where she falls in love with the idea of being a mother and it’s just simple, but I think it’s very moving.” Condon went on to say that Pattinson’s work in the film is equally moving, noting how much he has evolved as an actor. “[Edward] really becomes an adult [in this film],” Condon said. “In the beginning, he has this beautiful toast to [Bella] where he talks about, ‘You’re so lucky if you find that one person who can see you for who you are and still accept you and allow you to move beyond who you’ve been.’ And that’s what Rob does in this movie,” the director added, “He sort of puts aside Edward’s self-loathing and all that stuff and actually becomes a man. “So at the end, when Bella’s given birth and she’s died and he’s trying to bring her back, there is stuff in there where the camera just holds him for a long time where he’s just doing everything he can think of to make her live and to beg her to live,” Condon revealed. “It’s just really powerful.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Seattle Sounders vs Manchester United highlights 2011 friendly

Wayne Rooney #10 of Manchester United celebrates with a teammate after scoring a goal during the second half of the game against the Seattle Sounders FC at CenturyLink Field on July 20, 2011 in Seattle, Washington. Manchester United won the game 7-0. It might not make Seattle coach Sigi Schmid feel any better that Manchester United’s Alex Ferguson thought the final tally wasn’t representative of the effort Schmid’s club gave. It was a statement on depth of talent between the champions of Engla

Talkback: Do You Really Want an Entourage Movie?

This morning, while interviewing the cast of Entourage about their final season on HBO (premiering Sunday), Matt Lauer begged to know whether they would consider adapting their series into a film. (Because eight seasons of the gang talking about nailing each other’s assistants while brunching at the Ivy leaves so much to be desired.) “We’re going to try really hard to make that happen,” Kevin Connolly promised the Today host and fans. But are you even interested in an Entourage film?

‘Dark Knight Rises’ Trailer Hits The Net!

Clip offers glimpse of villain Bane in action while Liam Neeson’s Ra’s Al Ghul resurfaces in voiceover. By Terri Schwartz Tom Hardy as Bane in “The Dark Knight Rises” trailer Photo: Warner Bros. Pictures In exactly one year and two days, the Dark Knight will rise for the last time under the direction of Christopher Nolan. Fans flocking to the cinemas over the weekend to see “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” were lucky enough to catch the first teaser trailer of “The Dark Knight Rises,” the final installment of Nolan’s Batman trilogy. But now the official trailer has hit the Internet, teasing an apocalyptic conclusion to the beloved series. The latest clip appropriately teases the two elements of “The Dark Knight Rises” that have fans already so riled up. First off, a voiceover by Liam Neeson’s “Batman Begins” character, Ra’s Al Ghul, implies the connection to the first Batman movie that moviegoers have long suspected. “If you make yourself more than just a man, if you devote yourself to an ideal, then you become something else entirely,” he whispers. “A legend, Mr. Wayne, a legend.” When we last saw Batman, he was going into hiding after the destruction caused by the Joker and Two-Face. But the Batman must rise, and in new footage from the trailer, it’s Batman’s old friend, Commissioner Gordon, who asks him to do so. “We were in this together, and then you were gone,” says an incapacitated Gordon, played by Gary Oldman. “And now this evil rises. The Batman has to come back.” “This evil,” the second key trailer element, seems to imply Bane, the new “Dark Knight” villain played by Tom Hardy. Several shots of Bane are mixed in with the final moments of the trailer, a follow-up to the previously released photo of the man who broke the Bat. Among these images is also the first shot of Christian Bale as Batman in “The Dark Knight Rises.” The final look in the trailer — Gotham City’s skyscrapers crumbling down in a shape of the Bat symbol — hearkens back to the poster released last week. It certainly seems to imply that Gotham City might be destroyed while the Dark Knight does rise. There are still several characters left unseen, though, including Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard in presumed there-must-be-more-to-it-than-that roles. The Neeson voiceover opens up a whole new can of worms when it comes to the theory that Cotillard is actually playing Ra’s Al Ghul’s daughter, Talia Al Ghul, though whether that concept comes to fruition remains to be seen. Rupert Grint Talks ‘Harry Potter’ World Cup Chances

‘I’m still in it? No way!,’ actor tells MTV News. By Aly Semigran, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Rupert Grint Photo: MTV News Forget the NCAA Tournament: This is the bracket to end all brackets. For weeks, Harry Potter fans — in preparation for the saga’s final installment, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2,” opening in theaters on Friday — have been participating in our “Harry Potter” World Cup , which will determine who is the best character in the series, as chosen by you. And after thousands of votes and some major upsets in just about every seed (Harry’s out!), we are down to the Final Four . There’s the headstrong Hermione Granger vs. the redemptive Severus Snape and the rogue Sirius vs. the beloved Ron Weasley. MTV’s own Josh Horowitz announced the exciting news to Mr. Weasley himself, Rupert Grint , to which the actor happily responded, “I’m still in it? No way!” While Grint isn’t sure of his chances of taking the whole Cup should he end up going against Hermione or Severus in the final round (“I don’t think I could do that — I mean, Snape is a great character,” he told us), the 22-year-old is honored simply to have made it this far. “It’s amazing. It’s quite touching really,” Grint said of the “Potter” and, more specifically, Ron Weasley fans. See the full bracket and vote! In fact, the Cup has given the “Potter” cast the chance to see how relentlessly devoted the fans are to the series and the characters. “It’s the only time you’re kind of aware of how important these films are to people,” said Grint of events like the Cup or premieres, where devotees wait out for days and scream out for their favorite stars. While rabid fanbases may scare off some stars of popular sagas, Grint only has the fondest feelings for those who have made the “Harry Potter” films part of their lives for the past decade. As he put it to MTV News, “It’s great. I’m going to miss it all, really.” Join the club. “Harry Potter” fans will get the chance to determine whether Ron Weasley will go to the next round as voting for the Final Four continues through midnight. Then, the final showdown in the World Cup starts immediately at 12:01 a.m. ET on Monday, July 11. The winner of the “Harry Potter” World Cup will be announced later Monday evening during MTV’s live stream of the “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” red-carpet premiere in New York.
