What began as an odd but mostly harmless feud between controversial, emerging rapper Iggy Azalea and hip hop great Snoop Dogg turned ugly this week. Harsher and harsher insults, followed by full-on Instagram threats, soon sucked all the humor out of this beef, which T.I. had to intervene and squash . As Ron Burgundy would say, that escalated quickly. Was this celebrity feud the real deal, though, like Kanye and Jimmy Kimmel? Or an elaborate PR stunt, a la Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj’s pre-American Idol bickering? Honestly, we can’t tell. Signs point both directions. We’re still not entirely sure this was legitimate, but if it was staged, they sure went to great lengths to fuel the fire. Let’s break down the case for each … Real : Snoop’s Iggy Azalea No Make-Up diss was rough, but sounds like his sense of humor, and was likely someone else’s meme that he just shared. Fake : Iggy seemed hurt, rather than defiant, saying Snoop has always been “nice as hell” to her face and “I’m disappointed you’d be such an ass for no reason.” Real : Snoop’s posse doubled down, dissing her again as he continued to post memes of her, such as one likening her to Marlon Wayans in White Chicks . Fake : Iggy says it’s only Snoop’s two-faced behavior that bugs her, especially since her bodyguard saved his friend’s life … implying the two hang out. Snoop Dogg Threatens Iggy Azalea Snoop Dogg Apologizes to Iggy Azalea Real : Iggy’s boyfriend Nick Young of the L.A. Lakers jumped in, dissing Snoop for going through a midlife crisis. Why get involved if it’s not legit? Fake : Snoop shared a pic Nicki Minaj sitting by herself, captioned “Nicki sitting with other relevant female rappers,” fueling Iggy’s earlier “feud” with Nicki. Real : That felt a little off to us, but Snoop then tripled down with a profane video, threatening Iggy’s life and dropping words we don’t want to repeat here. Fake : Snoop apologized very, very quickly after T.I. allegedly called him. Iggy and Tip are tight, but since when does she need him to fight her battles for her? Real : T.I. once fought Floyd Mayweather and threatened Apollo Nida’s life for talking about him . If he did tell Snoop to stand down … Snoop might take heed. One year ago this week, The Bachelorette star Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried got engaged on the show after he earned her coveted final rose. Now, Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray own the majority of that spotlight, but the fire still burns between Des and Chris, who are still together and happy. And getting married this winter! Desiree Hartsock’s bridal shower was held in Hollywood last weekend, and upon her return to Seattle, where they now live, they dished on their plans. This time, it’s Marriage Boot Camp that’s drawn her fire. Rossi has complained for years about Bravo editing footage to make her look bad, and has now made the same allegations against her new show. On the most recent episode, the couples filmed in a morgue (seriously), with Gretchen pretending to be dead and Slade Smiley reading “last words.” Seriously. After the airing, Gretchen took to Twitter: “Ok now I’m pissed! Monday evening’s Dancing with the Stars results saw NeNe Leakes eliminated, having turned in the lowest score of the seven remaining competitors. Amy Purdy, meanwhile, was hospitalized after a rumba to a slowed down rendition of “Light My Fire” by The Doors that earned 36 out of 40 points. Amy Purdy & Derek Hough – Rumba “You lit my fire! First out, first class,” Len Goodman told her, while guest judge Ricky Martin gushed, “You were stunning. You made me feel a lot of things.” Purdy felt mostly pain. She was admitted to hospital shortly after her performance with a shoulder injury and was unable to perform the group routine. The athlete’s efforts in the dress rehearsal dance was used to judge the routine, fittingly performed to “Livin La Vida Loca,” with Amy unable to participate. The team had well wishes for Purdy, who they missed during the number, but she nailed her dress rehearsal performance, which was taken into account. Her status is uncertain, but assuming she can go next week, she’s one of six contestants remaining in this retooled 18th season of the ABC smash. Amy, Charlie White, James Maslow, Danica McKellar, Candace Cameron Bure, and Meryl Davis are all that remains of this spring’s celebrity ensemble. Meryl has dominated the past two weeks with Maksim Chmerkovskiy, while Charlie and James ended up in the bottom three last night with NeNe. Sunday night’s Super Bowl XLVIII result was certainly a joke, but was it rigged? The online conspiracy theorists are swarming following the lopsided outcome. The Seattle Seahawks didn’t just beat the Denver Broncos, they absolutely demolished them in every conceivable facet of the NFL championship game. It was not as close as the score suggests … and the score was 43-8. Super Bowl Rigged? Obviously, this has given way to the obligatory chatter that the Super Bowl was rigged, and Huzlers, site with an Onion-like penchant for satire, fueled the fire. Huzlers posted a “breaking” story this week with the headline “Super Bowl XLVIII Believed to Have Been Rigged and Currently Under Investigation by NFL.” Because few people know what Huzlers is, people believed this. The story claimed NFL officials “found clues that might prove the game was rigged” and imply Denver “lost the championship in exchange for a large amount of money.” The report goes on to say that ref Terry McAulay overheard Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning asking Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, “When are you going to pay up?” Of course, there is no evidence that the game was fixed or rigged, despite the first snap of the game almost decapitating Manning in hilarious fashion. Huzlers identifies itself as “a combination of real shocking news and satire news to keep its visitors in a state of disbelief.” It’s clearly not a real story. Still, the mismatch was almost laughable, and Denver’s comedy of errors – see video above – certainly made it look like they weren’t trying at times. Seriously, were they even trying to tackle the Seahawks? Did someone send hookers to the Broncos’ hotel the night before? Did they all see the Jamie Casino Super Bowl ad on YouTube and lose their focus? Rigged or not, something was definitely up.
