Billie Lourd Breaks Silence, Thanks Fans for Well Wishes

Billie Lourd has spoken out for the first time since the death of her mother. And her grandmother. The child of Carrie Fisher, Lourd stunningly and tragically lost both loved ones over the course of 24 hours last week; first when Fisher passed away from a heart attack and then when  Reynolds died from a stroke . It was a shocking and heartbreaking turn of events. Fans have been sending their condolences to Lourd ever since, wishing all the best to the Scream Queens 2 star in this impossibly challenging time period. And now Lourd has acknowledges their messages. “Receiving all of your prayers and kind words over the past week has given me strength during a time I thought strength could not exist,” Lourd wrote on Instagram. She added: “There are no words to express how much I will miss my Abadaba and my own and only Momby. Your love and support means the world to me.” As you can see below, Lourd included a photo of herself as a child with the post. It also features younger versions of Fisher and Reynolds: At 60 years old, Fisher, died unexpectedly on December 27, four days after suffering a heart attack on board an airplane. Reynolds, her 84-year-old mother, proceeded to pass away the next day after suffering a reported stroke. According to Reynolds’ son, the veteran actress said she wanted to be “with Carrie” just prior to passing away. The 24-year-old Lourd, whose father is Hollywood agent Bryan Lourd, appeared opposite her mother in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. She is not a household name, but all of Hollywood and everyone on Twitter has had Lourd in their thoughts and prayers in the days since these terrible events. View Slideshow: Billie Lourd Photos: Who is Carrie Fisher’s Daughter? On December 12, Lourd appeared opposite Seth Meyers and talked about life as the daughter of an icon. She told the talk show that that Fisher and Reynolds originally attempted to dissuade Billie from pursuing acting, yet were overwhelmingly proud of her accomplishments after she decided to take this path. The young star even said at the time that Reynolds offered a suggestion for how Lourd should be referred to in Hollywood. “She gets really upset when I get called ‘Carrie Fisher’s daughter,’” Lourd told Meyers. “She wants people to call me ‘Debbie Reynolds’ granddaughter.’ It’s very offensive to her. She does not like to be cut out — not at all.” Great stuff. Also: sad, sad, sad stuff. Over the past week or so, a great number of of Lourd’s Scream Queens costars have reached out via social media to send their support. Here’s a look at what celebrities have said in the wake of Fisher’s death: View Slideshow: Carrie Fisher: Mourned, Honored by Hollywood As previously reported, Fisher and Reynolds will be mourned at a joint funeral later this week. We continue to send our condolences to Lourd and everyone else so closely touched by these tragic passings.

Billie Lourd Photos: Who is Carrie Fisher’s Daughter?

When Carrie Fisher died this week at the age of 60, she left behind an enormous Star Wars family and untold millions of fans worldwide. While the iconic actress Fisher belonged to all of us in a sense, the single closest person to her was her only child, daughter Billie Lourd. Billie is 24 years old. Like her mom, Lourd was born in Los Angeles, California, and as the daughter of an actress and talent agent, had showbiz in her blood. Billie's father is agent Bryan Lourd, a partner and managing director of the Creative Arts Agency, and who later came out as bisexual. Through Carrie Fisher, Lourd is the granddaughter of Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher, and the niece of Todd, Joely and Tricia Leigh Fisher. Lourd studied religion and psychology at New York University, graduating in 2014. In February 2015, Lourd was cast in Scream Queens. Her character on the horror-comedy, rich and disillusioned sorority girl Chanel #3, wears earmuffs as an homage to Fisher's Star Wars hairstyle. Here are some pictures of a young actress who is starting to come into her own, and we expect to see plenty more of in the years to come … 1. Praise the Lourd We wish we could claim credit for that. Her Instagram handle is @praisethelourd. 4. Billie Lourd Smiles Billie Lourd is the only child of the late Carrie Fisher. 5. Britney Spears Dead? Hoax Alleges Icon’s Demise, Pop Star Tweets Selfies

As if 2016 couldn’t get any worse, a high-profile cyber attacker hijacked Sony’s music page and declared Britney Spears dead yesterday. Fortunately, it was a hoax. Britney is a-o-k. Twitter freaked out Monday morning when the official Sony Music Global page posted a tweet that claimed Britney “is dead by accident.” “We will tell you more soon,” they said. A follow-up tweet seemed to pay tribute to Spears’ life (1981-2016). Minutes later, a sequence of new tweets confirmed that she lives. OurMine Security said that Sony’s account had been compromised and the pop music icon, who just turned 35, is not a 2016 victim. Weirdly, OurMine reportedly hacked Mark Zuckerberg and Google’s Sundar Pichai recently, warning they were just “testing your security.” OurMine reportedly hacked Netflix too. The hacking of Sony is nothing new … nor is the proliferation of fake news. Bottom line, though, is that Britney Spears remains unharmed. Representatives for the singer confirmed this, despite false reports to the contrary, which circulated and fooled many people Monday. Spears fans the world over were alarmed as tweets from not just Sony, but other verified accounts appeared to announce her death. “Rest in peace, Britney Spears,” read an actual tweet from no less than Bob Dylan’s verified account; Bob apparently is a fan of Britney? That tweet from Dylan and many others like it were deleted shortly after the hoax was debunked and they realized they’d been had. “I assume their account has been hacked,” Adam Leber, Spears’ longtime manager, told CNN later on Monday. “I haven’t spoken to anyone.” “I am certain their account was hacked. Britney is fine and well,” he assured the star’s fans, noting that this was a first, even for her. “There have been a few Internet clowns over the years who have made similar claims about her death, but never the official Sony Music Twitter.” Britney personally took to Twitter, writing simply: “Don’t underestimate the power of Charlie’s.” Britney included the following collage: Silver lining of death hoaxes? New selfies from Brit! Spears is no stranger to outrageous rumors and theories over the years, but Sony has its own history with hackers too, as we know. We’re gonna blame Putin. Kidding/not kidding. Long before hacking became so widespread, the emails of top executives were famously hijacked in 2014, leading to several controversies. The Spears fake-out is surprising and yet not. It comes on the heels of some very real celebrity deaths (George Michael) and health crises (Carrie Fisher) over the past week alone. With the way this incredibly, often tragic year has gone, you could almost believe that something like this would happen in the waning days. Fortunately, it was just another hoax. Phew. View Slideshow: 21 Hottest Britney Spears Photos of ALL TIME When she’s not being fake-killed off by hackers, Britney has kept a relatively low profile of late, but is still going strong in life and work. And love, according to multiple recent reports. She’s started dating  Sam Ashgari , who was a dancer in Britney and Tinashe’s hot “Slumber Party” video, and is performing in Vegas. Are they having slumber parties for two yet?! A source close to the couple says they’re in the “getting-to-know-you” stage of their relationship, having gone on three dates this far.  He’s certainly glad she’ll live to see a fourth. Many a celebrity has been done in by Twitter, Facebook or other nefarious Internet hoax-making, but the Sony Twitter is quite unusual. Here’s a look back at other famous “victims” we’ve covered on THG, all of whom are mercifully alive, well and entertaining us presently: View Slideshow: 25 Times the Internet Killed Off a Celebrity

Carrie Fisher Dies; Beloved Star Wars Actress Was 60

Carrie Fisher, a veteran actress best known and revered for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise, has passed away. She was 60 years old. Fisher was flying from London to Los Angeles on a United flight when she  suffered a major heart attack  on board an airplane late last week. The incident took place 15 minutes before the flight landed in LAX. Once the plane landed, paramedics worked on the star for 15 minutes with CPR before they were able to find the star’s pulse. She was then transferred to UCLA Medical Center and was in critical condition before succumbing to the heart attack earlier Tuesday. Family spokesman Simon Halls released a statement to the media on behalf of Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd: “It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning.” “She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.” Fisher, of course, sky-rocketed to fame in 1977 as one of the main characters in George Lucas’ iconic space opera  Star Wars . She recently reprised the role of Princess Leia in 2015’s The Force Awakens and next year’s Star Wars: Episode VIII . It’s unclear what will happen to Leia’s storyline in Episode IX, tentatively scheduled for release in December 2019. Along with this legendary film character, Fisher appeared on a number of films and TV shows over the years. She had been the voice of Angela on Family Guy since 2005; stopped by The Big Bang Theory as herself in 2014; and also portrayed Mia in Catastrophe. Fisher was even nominated for a pair of Primetime Emmy Awards: Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her role on 30 Rock in 2008; and Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special for Wishful Drinking in 2011. Fisher also recently made headlines when she came out and admitted to an affair with Harrison Ford way back during the filming of A New Hope . She spoke of this romantic entanglement as part of her press tour for The Princess Diarist, a memoir that was released on November 22 of this year. Three decades earlier, Fisher wrote her first memoir, along with the screenplay for the movie based on the book. She was married to Bryan Lourd and Paul Simon; Billie is her only child. The daughter of showbiz veteran Debbie Reynolds and entertainer Eddie Fisher, she was brought up in the world of film, theater and TV. Fisher made her film debut in the Warren Beatty-lead Shampoo while she was a teenager and was just 19 when she was cast in Star Wars . In addition to the second and third Star Wars films, Fisher starred in 1980’s The Blues Brothers and The Man with One Red Shoe. She appeared in Woody Allen’s Hannah and Her Sisters in 1986 and, later, the award-winning classic  When Harry Met Sally . Fisher wed musician Paul Simon in 1983. Theirs was an explosive marriage, according to Homeward Bound: The Life of Paul Simon author Peter Ames Carlin. The union was cut short by swinging stages of depression, the actress’ drug use and an array of personal insecurities. Nevertheless, the tumultuous relationship continued, on-and-off for several years, after the pair got divorced in 1984.  The star’s substance abuse problem was well-known, starting at only age 13 when she first started smoking marijuana, Fisher said. She later dabbled in drugs like cocaine and LSD. Fisher’s addiction was largely profiled in her 1987 best-selling, semi-autobiographical novel, Postcards from the Edge. Always open about her life, in good times and bad, Fisher’s book was later turned into a movie starring Meryl Streep. Fisher is the latest in a long line of major names to have passed away in 2016, as tragically detailed in the gallery below. We send our condolences to her friends, family members and other loved ones as they mourn the passing of one of the true greats. Carrie Fisher Health Update: How Is She?!?

We have an update on the status of Carrie Fisher. As has been widely reported, the beloved Star Wars actress suffered a massive heart attack while on board an airplane on Friday afternoon. She fell unconscious 15 minutes prior to landing in Los Angeles and was unresponsive while paramedics rushed to her side immediately after her flight touched down at LAX. In the aftermath of this scary incident, it was unclear whether or not Fisher would survive. Fisher’s brother, for example, could only tell reporters that Fisher was in ICU , saying hours after his sister fell ill that “there’s nothing new from the doctors.” Fans have been left to refresh the Internet and pray for good news ever since. But now we appear to have some. Fisher’s mother, Debbie Reynolds, has taken to Twitter and addressed the health of her daughter for the first time since Friday’s heart attack, giving followers a reason to hope for the best. Wrote the 84-year old former actress on social media: Carrie is in stable condition. If there is a change,we will share it. For all her fans & friends. I thank you for your prayers & good wishes. Thank goodness, right? This message comes on the heels of Fisher’s half-sister, Joely, sharing a family photo on Instagram from her Christmas Eve dinner, along with a brief, heartfelt message to fans. “The incredible outpouring of love and prayers has been felt…Merry…Happy…Healthy…from our family to yours,” she Joely as the image’s caption. Fisher was on plane from London to Los Angeles when she went into cardiac arrest. The Los Angeles Fire Department received a call shortly after noon on Friday and responded to LAX Gate 74, with paramedics performing “advanced life support” on the star, according to E! News. Yes, it was that serious. While nearly everyone in Hollywood has sent along his or her best wishes to Fisher in the hours and days since this near-tragedy, many eyes have been on the Star Wars universe. Along those lines, Harrison Ford released the following statement: “I’m shocked and saddened to hear the news about my dear friend. Our thoughts are with Carrie, her family and friends.” And Mark Hamill has written often on Twitter of his beloved ex-colleague, most recently using the hashtag #CarrieChristmas and posting the following photo: Amen, right? We will continue to update readers on the health of Carrie Fisher, as we encourage everyone to send their prayers and thoughts her way.
