Wade, James and Bosh, and the role players

Miami Heat made their cap space cleared and won the jackpot of getting the Wade, James and Bosh to take the trip to championship. After signing the three of the most celebrated free agents, Heat made their moves to re-sign Udonis Haslem who played for the Heat since 2003 draft. Haslem signed a five-year deal worth $20 million, a roughly $14 million less than he could have received if he chose the offers of either Dallas Mavericks or Denver Nuggets. “This is a combination of having a great opportunity to win, which is why we play this game, and an opportunity to still stay close to my family and be with my mother,” Haslem said, “And also, the opportunity to be a part of something special. We all play this game to win. I’ve never been a person driven by money. I would be changing my DNA if I left just for money,” he added. James, Wade and Bosh took less than what they could have received from other teams individually. With that, Heat will be able to sign certain players that will complement the game of the Big Three. Haslem will take the supporting role. With Haslem’s signing, another thing he considered was Mike Miller’s possible trade to Miami Heat for Michael Beasley. These two gentlemen are extremely close friends. They were both Florida Gators. Upon LeBron’s decision in moving to south beach, Miller considered following James. Miller’s agent, Arn Tellem, wrote on his blog, that Miller talked with four teams, not including the Heat, but that his future “hinged on LeBron’s.” James picked Miami, so Miller followed, and Tellem compared Miller to the Ringo Starr on this new Heat team of stars. “Mike welcomes the chance to be the Ringo in a hot combo that already includes LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh,” Miller’s agent said. As part of the Miami’s rebuilding team, Chalmers, Wade, Miller, James, Haslem and Bosh, there is still a position that is yet to be filled, the center position. Is Zydrunas Ilgauskas ready to leave Cleveland to follow his friend LeBron in Miami? There are speculations that the “Big Z” will be joining his former teammate in MIami. Will he be the next “Cleveland coward?” as labeled by the Cleveland Owner Dan Gilbert about James moving to Miami. John Stamos vs. Allison Coss: Actors Defends Himself Against Allegations of Drug Use, Illegal Sex

John Stamos will guest star on Glee this fall. But there’s nothing gleeful about his current situation: the actor took to the stand yesterday to defend himself against Allison Coss, the young woman arrested in December for trying to extort $680,000 from Stamos in exchange for not releasing allegedly compromising photos of him. Testifying in U.S. District Court, Stamos denied all accusations that he used cocaine and/or accompanied an underaged Coss in a hot tub. He admitted the following under oath: He met the then-17-year old in Orlando in 2004. She told him she was 18 and on spring break form college. The next day, Stamos and his friends met up with Coss and others in a hotel room, where they were “hanging out, socializing.” There was no drug use of any kind. Following the Florida trip, Stamos and Coss stayed in touch via e-mail, exchanges the actor described as “flirty” but “friendly.” Stamos asked for “wild” photos of Coss in 2007. Coss and boyfriend Scott Sippola are charged with conspiracy and two counts of extortion against the actor. If convicted on all charges, they could face up to nine years in prison. Near the end of his testimony, Coss’ lawyer randomly asked Stamos if he was a friend of Charlie Sheen. He replied: “No, but I know Lindsay Lohan .”

7 Popular Gulf Coast Beaches Devastated by the BP Oil Spill

This photo is actually from the 2008 oil spill in San Francisco — but still gets the point across. Photo via cccpublishing.com The Gulf Coast — which stretches across the beaches and marshlands of Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas — has some of the country’s most beautiful landscapes, thriving waters, and unique plants. But the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill has put a damper on the region’s claim as a summer vacation destination by inspiring health officials to discourage swimm… Read the full story on TreeHugger

Vienna Girardi: Sexy, Single, Stepping Out

Jake Pavelka who? She claims all she wanted to do was move home to Florida and get out of the spotlight, but a newly-single Vienna Girardi hit the town Saturday in Hollywood. “I”m moving on with my life and I’m not looking back,” a smiling Vienna told Radar Online at the Carrera Sunglasses Escape event at the Chateau Marmont. With a positive attitude and without that stiff she used to be engaged to, she said “I’m really excited about just living on my own and being happy again.” Surrounded by friends, as well as some other celebrities like Nicole Richie, Vienna Girardi certainly looked pretty in a white tank top and skinny black jeans. CLEAR FOR TAKEOFF : Vienna left Jake at baggage claim and is getting on with her life. Probably for the best. [Photo: PacificCoastNewsOnline.com] “It’s great to be out with my girlfriends hanging out. We all have so much fun,” said the airheaded bubbly 23-year-old. “I’m happy to have my smile back.” The sadness seen during the tear-filled interview on The Bachelorette last week? Long gone. “It’s been a long time and I’m really ready to live my life again.” No word if her sex emails to Lee Smith have led to a reconciliation, but she’s landed a marketing job at Biolustre and is enthusiastic about the opportunity. “It’s fantastic, I’m really enjoying everything I get to do,” she says … and certainly couldn’t have said the same during her engagement to Jake. ZING! Whose side are you on?

Riki Ott: BP, Governments Downplay Public Health Risk From Oil and Dispersants

See more photos at link Pensacola Beach, FL — When Ryan Heffernan, a volunteer with Emerald Coastkeeper, noticed a bag of oily debris floating off in Santa Rosa Sound, she ran up to BP's HazMat-trained workers to ask if they would retrieve it. “No, ma'am,” one replied politely. “We can't go in the ocean. It's contaminated.” Ryan waded in and retrieved the bag. That was Wednesday, June 23, the first day visible oil hit Pensacola Beach. Ryan had been swimming off the beach the day before, as she said, “to get in my last swim before the oil hit.” The trouble is that not all of the oil coming ashore is visible. Dispersed oil – tiny bubbles of oil encased in chemical dispersants – are in the water column. On Thursday Ryan was treated at a local doctor's office for skin rash on her legs. Three days later on Pensacola Beach, I watched BP's HazMat-trained workers shovel surface oiled sand and oily debris into bags early in the morning. The workers followed the waterline like shorebirds, scurrying up the beach in front of breaking waves and moving back down with receding waters. The late morning sun retired the workers to the shade of their tents and the job of “observing,” while it brought out throngs of beach-goers — children, parents, grandparents — who happily plunged into the “contaminated” ocean without a second thought. I was astounded. Why did people think the ocean was safe for swimming? There were five HazMat tents, four front-loaders, and at least two dozen HazMat workers on the beach. HazMat workers wore yellow over-boots duct-taped to their long pants' legs to minimize risk of contact with the water. The white surf popped with visible black tar balls as it rolled towards the beach. Waves left an oily signature of tar balls on the beach, melting in the sun. The treads of my Chacos weighed down with oily sand despite trying to avoid the mess. Most people were barefoot. Hotels set up oil cleaning stations on their premises – and signs saying the water advisory (put in place after Ryan's incident) had been lifted. What's wrong with this picture? Lots. For starters, Ryan's story from Pensacola Beach is not an isolated incident. I have received emails and heard personal stories from Louisiana to Florida of people who have developed skin rashes and blisters from going in the ocean. People describe stings by “invisible jellyfish.” Turtle patrol volunteers who walk beaches daily write of blisters and bronchitis. And then there are individuals like Sheri Allen who took her dog for a walk on a beach in Mobile Bay in May. Sheri wrote me that her “arms and legs were burning, even after the shower. The following morning … (there were) … small blood blisters. By evening the blisters had begun to welt. By the fourth day, the areas had got larger and swollen.” She went to see a doctor but the sores remain and they have begun to scar her arms and legs. For several days after Sherri's incident, her husband found fish kills on the beach. William Rea, MD, who founded the Environmental Health Center-Dallas, treated a number of sick Exxon Valdez cleanup workers. He once told me, “When you have sick people and sick animals, and they are sick because of the same chemical, that's the strongest evidence possible that that chemical is a problem.” It's not just skin rashes and blisters. At community forums, I commonly hear from adults and children with persistent coughs, stuffy sinuses, headaches, burning eyes, sore throats, ear bleeds, and fatigue. These symptoms are consistent across the four Gulf states that I have visited. Further, the symptoms of respiratory problems, central nervous system distress, and skin irritation are consistent with overexposure to crude oil through the two primary routes of exposure: inhalation and skin contact. Most distressing to me are stories about sick children. “Dose plus host makes the poison,” I learned in toxicology. A small child is at risk of breathing a higher dose of contaminants per body weight than an adult. Children, pregnant women, people with compromised or stressed immune systems like cancer survivors and asthma sufferers, and African Americans are more at risk from oil and chemical exposure – the latter because they are prone to sickle cell anemia and 2-butoxyethanol can cause, or worsen, blood disorders. Public officials have failed to sound an alarm about the public health threat because three federal agencies – DHHS, EPA, and OSHA – cannot find any unsafe levels of oil in air or water. Perhaps the federal air and water standards are not stringent enough to protect the public from oil pollution. Our federal laws are outdated and do not protect us from the toxic threat from oil – now widely recognized in the scientific and medical community. BP is still in the dark ages on oil toxicity. BP officials stress that, by the time oil gets to shore, it is “weathered” and missing the highly volatile compounds like the carcinogenic benzene, among others. BP fails to mention the threat from dispersed oil, ultrafine particles (PAHs), and chemical dispersants, which include industrial solvents and proprietary compounds, many hazardous to humans. If oil was so nontoxic, then why are the spill response workers giving hazardous waste training? Our federal government should stop pretending that everything is okay. What isn't safe for workers isn't safe for the general public either. Ryan's rash was getting better until she sat on Pensacola Beach to watch fireworks on July 4. The next day her skin erupted in fiery red burns. She is worried about her health. So are many other people along the Gulf. Perhaps it is time for the government to protect public health first and BP's profit second. Riki Ott, PhD, is a marine toxicologist from Alaska, volunteering in the Gulf. She has written two books on surviving the Exxon Valdez oil spill – Sound Truth and Corporate Myths on biological impact of oil to people and wildlife, and Not One Drop on emotional impact of disaster trauma and litigation to people and community. www.rikiott.com . Ott is working with Emerald Coastkeeper and others to petition the EPA to delist toxic chemical products in oil spill response. added by: samantha420

Chris Matthews Stars in Future Marco Rubio Campaign Commercial

Are you happy with the job that the Obama administration and the Democrats are doing? If so, then vote for Charlie Crist for the U.S. Senate because Chris Matthews happily proclaimed that Crist is going to be the new star in the Democrat caucus. However, if you are dissatisfied with the direction this nation is going and want to change it, then Marco Rubio will be your choice which is why your humble correspondent won’t be a bit surprised to see this video of Matthews making his proclamation about Crist on Morning Joe end up as a Rubio campaign commercial. Here is a transcript of Matthews delivering his kiss of death product endorsement of Charlie Crist: Charlie Crist is going to be the new star of the Democratic caucus in the Senate. He’s going to be a major player in the Democratic Party down the road. He’ll be a moderate Democrat somewhere in the middle. I think he’s very shrewd and nimble. This sudden Matthews infatuation with Charlie Crist stands in sharp contrast with his attitude back in May when he was sharply critical of the Florida governor’s performance on Meet The Press where he played coy by avoiding a direct answer about which party he would caucus with and for whom he would vote for Majority Leader of the Senate as you can see in the video below: Here is a transcript of Matthews’ disgust with Crist at that time: …I used to sort of like Charlie Crist but he’s off-base on that. You have to join a party caucus before you can vote for leader. He can’t decide which leader he’s going to vote for because he’s not even voting. He must join a caucus then you get to vote for which person leads that caucus. That’s how it’s done. He doesn’t seem to know that or he rejects knowing it. What do you think? Is he just ignorant or is he playing a game here? So what changed in the past couple of months to cause Matthews to move from disgust with Charlie Crist to developing a “strange new respect” for the Florida governor? Most likely it was the realization by Matthews and fellow liberals that the likely Democrat nominees, Kendrick Meek or billionaire Jeff Greene, have little or no chance of winning the general election in November. Therefore the best chance of promoting the liberal agenda in the Senate would be to back Charlie Crist running as an independent who was too liberal to win the Republican nomination. And Marco Rubio should thank Matthews for that wonderful future campaign commercial clip reminding Florida voters (many of whom still mistakenly think of Crist as a Republican) that Charlie is a Democrat.

‘Eclipse’ Stars Surprise Fans At Theater Screenings

Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Nikki Reed and other ‘Twilight Saga’ actors made appearances around the country over the holiday weekend. By Terri Schwartz Ashley Greene Photo: Didier Messens/ WireImage This was a very special Fourth of July weekend for “Twilight” fans, because the long weekend meant that the stars of “The Twilight Saga” films were going to be making surprise appearances at movie theaters around the country. The full list of cities (ranging from Detroit to Atlanta to Kona, Hawaii) went up on Friday , but which stars would be appearing wasn’t known until after they showed up in theaters. The biggest surprise of the weekend was when Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart greeted fans Monday night after an IMAX screening of “Eclipse” in Century City, California. “We just wanted to come and say thank you in person for making this such a great weekend,” Stewart said. Pattinson added, “I hope you liked the movie, because otherwise this would really embarrassing.” The two left quickly, but considering there was a lot of doubt that the Big Two would actually go out, the fans didn’t seem to mind. It was a cap to an exciting weekend that started with appearances Friday. Dakota Fanning also didn’t stray far from home when she made an appearance at a Los Angeles cinema, and Justin Chon only ventured down to Orange County, California. Kiowa Gordon (Embry Call) and BooBoo Stewart (Seth) went to Las Vegas, while Tyson Houseman (Quil Ateara) journeyed out of the country to Vancouver. On the other side of the country, Gil Birmingham (Billy Black) went to Kansas City to greet fans, while Tinsel Korey (Emily) went to Nashville, Christian Serratos (Angela) went to Washington, D.C., and Julia Jones (Leah Clearwater) went to Chicago. Charlie Bewley (Demetri) visited a screening in Minneapolis , telling fans at the not-quite-full Rosedale AMC theater that he was “forced to watch it at the premiere, but it was really good. I’m not the kind of guy that would go and watch ‘Twilight’ if I wasn’t in the movie … but I was really impressed with this one.” The appearances continued on Saturday, with Bewley heading over to screenings in New Jersey, Jones heading to San Francisco and Serratos to Dallas. Cameron Bright (Alec) visited three theaters in Atlanta, Jodelle Ferland (Bree) headed down to New Orleans, and Bronson Pelletier (Jared) visited theaters in Cleveland and Detroit. Taylor Lautner surprised fans at an unscheduled appearance in Pittsburgh, and Peter Facinelli traveled down to Kona, Hawaii. Nikki Reed and Xavier Samuel, who had just returned from promoting the film in Europe, went to theaters in Long Island and Manhattan, respectively. Reed answered fan questions for about 10 minutes, sharing that she was so Team Edward when they were filming “Twilight” that she was in the middle of reading “New Moon,” when Edward leaves Bella, and she found herself running around the set looking for Pattinson, thinking, “where’s Rob? I just need to see him and make sure he’s still here.” After one bad heartbreak in her life, though, she said she finds herself more aligned with Team Jacob because it’s “healthier.” There were only two scheduled appearances on Sunday, but fans said Bright didn’t make it to Toronto where he was supposed to make an appearance. Ashley Greene did head to her hometown of Jacksonville, Florida, where she spent time talking to fans and signing autographs. “I just wanted to say, thank you so much for coming to see our movie. We’re really, really proud of this film,” she told the crowd . “Thank you guys.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .
