In late August, Carpenter was arguing for leniency in the sentencing of her client, Theodore Wafer. Wafer, 55, was found guilty in the shooting death of Renisha McBride, 19, after she pounded on his front door in the middle of the night. Through tears, Carpenter pleaded Wafer “shows more remorse than any client I have ever seen.” Now, almost a year to the day of the Nov. 2 murder that thrust Carpenter into the spotlight, she cringes at the memory. “I’ve never cried like that in a courtroom,” she said, sitting cross-legged on her couch in her Birmingham home. “I was horrified by it. Society does not accept tears or emotion very well. Especially from attorneys.” Still, the 44-year-old will attest: The very passion that caused her to lose her composure is the same force that draws her to the most hopeless of cases. “The ones who are the most powerless, the ones who are the most hated and the ones who are the most prejudged are the ones I want to help the most,” she said. “It feels like my calling. I want to fight for the biggest underdog.” Wait…so she thinks Wafer was the underdog here? O….k. Literally ANY Black man… Police Sketch Black Suspect Without Key Facial Features A pervy pedo with ill intentions tried to lure a 12-year-old Orgeon girl into his vehicle early this week. However when the potential victim couldn’t remember exactly what her would-be attacker looked like, rather than forego the police sketch, they just drew a general outline of the Black man in question. Via MailOnline : When a 12-year-old Oregon girl was unable to fully describe the man who tried to lure her into his car last week, the police sketch artist decided to focus on only the parts she did remember, resulting in a bizarre picture of a faceless suspect. A sketch of the man, described with a ‘scratchy smoker’s voice’ and a chin beard with no hair over the upper lip.’ He allegedly drove up to the young girl at about 8:50 a.m. on October 15, telling her that her mother was in the hospital and he had been sent to pick her up. The girl was walking to school at the time. She was able to grab her cell phone and flee as he approached her. The victim was able to recall that he was a short, black male in his 50s to 60s with a ‘heavy’ build and a buzz cut. He was driving a red Toyota pickup truck. The vehicle had two bumper stickers – ‘Keep Portland Weird’ and ‘Baby on Board’ – and the license plate contained an ‘X’ ‘Q’ and a ‘Z.’ She was not, however, able to remember his eyes or nose. The Daily News reports that it would be ‘very problematic’ for the sketch artist to draw features in if they had no description, according to Dan Kraus of the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office. Teacher Calls Police On Kindergartener Via TheSmokingGun : A Florida teacher called cops to report that a five-year-old student had again “groped her in the vagina,” according to a police report. The educator told investigators that it was the second time the boy, a student at the Blanche H. Daughtrey Elementary School in Bradenton, had grabbed her. She contacted police to document the child’s behavior, which the woman said had “escalated” and “become aggressive and vulgar the past 2 weeks.” While the boy is not identified in the report, he is likely a kindergartner at the school, which runs through the fifth grade. According to its web site, the school prepares students for “academic success and life as responsible citizens.” No charges were filed in connection with the reported October 9 groping. SO rather than calling the child’s parents, or a counselor to get to the bottom of why his behavior is so problematic at such a young age…she tries to go on and get the child a criminal record before he masters the alphabet. But it isn’t the price with which Schrivjer takes issue. “Toys R Us is well known around the world for their vast selection of toys for children of all ages,” the documents reads. “However, their decision to sell a Breaking Bad doll, complete with a detachable sack of cash and a bag of meth, alongside children’s toys is a dangerous deviation from their family friendly values.” To date, the petition has over 3,600 signatures. “While the show may be compelling viewing for adults, its violent content and celebration of the drug trade make this collection unsuitable to be sold alongside Barbie dolls and Disney characters,” Schrivjer adds.
