A Naples, Florida resident is under arrest today after his mother called the authorities to report that her son was keeping a baby alligator in her bathtub. Sean Lewis, 45, was reportedly keeping an eye on the creature for a friend and created his own little aquarium in the bathroom, replete with a cinderblock for the animal to lie on and a lightbulb to serve as the sun. After several days, however, Sean’s mother grew irritated by the unwelcome guest and called 911 to have her kid booked on charges of alligator poaching. Man Found Dead at Home of Olivia Newton-John The Jupiter Police Department said in a statement: “Subsequent to an autopsy this morning … it was determined Tequesta resident, Christopher Pariseleti, died as the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.” “This case investigation has been classified as a suicide and there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of Mr. Pariseleti.” It was on Monday when Jupiter, Fla., police were first called to a residence belonging to the legendary actress-singer and husband John Easterling. Police found 42-year-old male who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound . At the time, the deceased’s name and cause of death were not released. However, Jupiter Police Department officials did confirm that the man had been hired as a contractor by Olivia Newton-John and John Easterling. “Olivia and her husband John are in shock over the tragic event that occurred at their Florida home yesterday,” the couple’s publicist said in a statement. “At this time we are awaiting additional information, but can confirm that the couple was not in Florida at the time and the deceased was not a family member.”

Devin Langford, a VERY drink Florida man, was arrested for DUI recently … and tried to urinate out of the police cruiser window en route to the station. His attempt did not go as planned. Drunk Man Tries to Urinate Out of Cop Car Window Pulled over for speeding, Langford was promptly given sobriety tests due to his “red, glassy, bloodshot eyes,” and the “plethora of empty beer cans” in his truck. Obviously, he failed the tests, and was put in a squad car to be taken to the county jail. On his way, he felt nature’s call and told the officer he had to go. The arresting officer, Brian Bell, told Langford to wait until they got to jail, but he said he couldn’t hold it that long and asked if he could urinate in the car. You’d think this would – pardon the expression – piss off the cop. But Bell was understanding (or just trying not to get into an argument with a wasted guy). Bell told him if he had to go, to just do it. Langford was so touched, he decided to avoid urinating in the car by attempting to aim it out the window. While Bell said he’d prefer if Langford just wet his pants, the suspect went ahead with his plan … and peed all over the passenger seat and floorboards. Better luck next time. He was not charged for the urination fail at least. Later, when they arrived at jail, Langford told Bell, “I might be a little drunk, but I’m not a lot of drunk.” The breathalyzer (.138 percent and .141 percent in two attempts) said otherwise, but at least he scored around a .875 on the unintended comedy scale.

Sections of a building at a resort near an Orlando, Florida theme park district collapsed into a sinkhole late Sunday, forcing the evacuation of guests. Dozens of visitors staying in two adjacent three-story buildings were also evacuated. Sinkhole in Florida: Report The sinkhole ingested part of Summer Bay Resort in Clermont, Florida. “I was in the tub when the ‘boom’ went off and the tub literally popped up and came down,” Debbie Ward told MyFoxOrlando, recalling the experience. “She thought it was an earthquake and got out of the tub, and could “hear the cracking and the ceiling and glass breaking and we decided to get out as soon as possible.” Engineers have been drilling to see if the land has stabilized. Paul Caldwell, the owner, says one building was destroyed. Back in March, a Florida sinkhole killed a man when it opened up near his Hillsborough County home. The sinkhole prompted evacuations in the neighborhood. Sinkholes are as much a part of the Florida landscape as palm trees and alligators, especially in recent years. Florida has more than any state in the nation. Experts say sinkholes aren’t occurring at a greater rate than usual but that the high-profile nature of recent one in populated areas has drawn attention to them. So how does it happen? Much of Florida is made up of porous carbonate rocks such as limestone that store and help move groundwater. Dirt, sand and clay sit on top of that rock. Over time, these rocks can dissolve from an acid created from oxygen in water, creating a void underneath the limestone roof, creating the sinkhole. When the dirt, clay or sand gets too heavy for the limestone roof, it can collapse. Sinkholes are caused naturally but they can be triggered by outside events. Heavy rain, drought followed by heavy rainfall, tropical storms and human activity – such as overuse of groundwater, drilling, excavating and construction – can contribute.
