Herman ‘Touch Caucasian Cakes’ Cain: “I Dropped Out Of The Presidential Race Because Of Gutter Politics, Stupid People, & Keeping Family First”

Your boy Herman Cain is bizzzack and he and his 9-9-9-isms hit the stage at the CPAC conference where he discussed a plethora of things such as teleprompters, gutter politics, and the Bible: In the most anticipated address of the day on Thursday, Herman Cain compared himself to the biblical David, who slew Goliath. Cain said he dropped out of the presidential race because he values his family, and then offered the strong analogy. “There were two reasons I dropped out of the race – gutter politics and, No. 2, I chose to put family first,” he said. “And in making that decision, I knew that we together could change Washington, D.C., from the outside and from the bottom up even if your David didn’t make it to the White House.” The crowd didn’t immediately seem to know which David that Cain was referring to, but later in his comments, it became clearer that his reference was to the Bible. Cain also took time out of his speech to recognize Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, a.k.a. “Joe the Plumber,” who is waging a quixotic campaign for Congress in a very tough Ohio district. “Some of us choose to get off the sidelines, and I admire that,” Cain said. “I don’t regret the move that I made, but there’s more than one way to skin a cat.” Check out the video of his speech below… Even more folks at this CPAC 2012 were going in on Barack Obama: In his speech opening the CPAC conference, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (R) touched on every leg of the so-called three-legged stool: national security, the economy and social conservatism. It was a jokey speech filled with barbs at Democrats — liberals now call themselves “progressive, which I thought was an insurance company” and “It’s hard to get a teleprompter in this town, there’s a guy who uses a lot of them.” He took multiple shots at Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg and former president Jimmy Carter. Obama, he said, “looks like he’s a really good father, he’s a really good husband, but he is a terrible president.” SMH. Source

Time To Move: Do You Live In One Of America’s Most Miserable Cities?

The top pick is pretty shocking. Need some antidepression pills? There’s been a list of the city with the most miserable people and it’s pretty surprising. You can imagine that there are a ton of midwest cities on the list. But the top spot is a big surprise. Take a look and maybe holler at the people at UHaul while you’re at it.

‘American Idol’ Hollywood Week Gets Off To A Cutthroat Start

Jane Carrey and Ramiro Garcia were among the 68 contestants sent home at the end of day one. By Adam Graham Jennifer Lopez in “American Idol” Photo: Fox When it comes to “American Idol,” everyone wants to go to Hollywood. But the euphoria from that Golden Ticket doesn’t last long for contestants, as the slash-and-burn process of the notoriously cutthroat Hollywood Week takes hold. This year, 309 contestants made it through to Hollywood, and the whittling-down process started immediately. Wednesday’s (February 8) “Idol” focused on the beginning of Hollywood Week, when 68 contestants were shown the door by the end of day one. Among those going home was Jane Carrey, daughter of actor Jim Carrey, who failed to make much of an impression with her timid take on Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Lookin’ Out My Back Door.” Because of her family ties, Carrey was one of the most noteworthy contestants from the audition episodes, but the 24-year-old didn’t make it far before feeling the wrath of Hollywood Week. Also cut was 28-year-old Ramiro Garcia, who was born without ears and whose version of “Amazing Grace” was a standout in the Galveston, Texas, auditions. He was dismissed along with 18-year-old Travis Orlando, the Bronx native who was cut at the same point in Hollywood Week a year ago. Standouts in Wednesday’s episode included 23-year-old Johnny Keyser of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, who had Randy Jackson shouting, “Amen! Amen! Amen!” after his version of Amos Lee’s “Dreamin’ “; ladies man David Leathers Jr., the 17-year-old from Fayetteville, North Carolina, who doesn’t look a day over 12 but had the judges and his peers alike applauding his impressive version of Celine Dion’s “Because You Loved Me”; Lauren Gray, the 23-year-old star of the St. Louis auditions who brought the house down with her version of Adele’s “One and Only”; the unforgettably named Phillip Phillips, the 21-year-old who busted out “Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag” and moved one step closer to immortality; and 26-year-old Jessica Phillips — no relation to Phillip, at least as far as we know — who had the gall to do Whitney Houston’s “All the Man That I Need” and pulled it off admirably. Other singers advancing included 22-year-old Heejun Han, who made up for the lack of confidence in his looks with his strong vocals on Michael Bolton’s “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You”; 16-year-old Shannon Magrane of Tampa, Florida, daughter of former St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Joe Magrane, whom Steven Tyler awkwardly dubbed “hot, humid and happening” during her initial audition; and 26-year-old Reed Grimm of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, who’s been performing on stage all his life and showed it with a campy version of “I Got a Golden Ticket” from “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” The episode ended with a cliffhanger after 16-year-old Symone Black of Rancho Cucamonga, California, got woozy and took a scary spill off the front of the stage following her rendition of Otis Redding’s “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay.” Hollywood Week has enough drama without people collapsing off the stage, but “Idol” is making us tune in Thursday to find out what happens to Black and see if she makes it to the utterly ruthlessness known as Group Round. What did you think of the beginning of Hollywood Week? Let us know in the comments! Mitt Romney Scores Another Win In Nevada Caucus

Ron Paul comes in third in latest GOP contest. By Gil Kaufman Mitt Romney Photo: Joe Raedle/ Getty Images Just four days after notching his most convincing win of the primary season so far, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney made it two in a row by taking Saturday night’s Republican caucus in Nevada with 47.6 percent of the vote. In a season where three different candidates have won the first four contests, that gives Romney the distinction of being the first to grab two consecutive wins. “This is not the first time you’ve given me your vote of confidence, and this time I’m going to take it to the White House,” a clearly excited Romney said at a victory speech, where he once again turned his attention away from his Republican opponents and on President Obama. Unlike Florida, where Representative Ron Paul didn’t compete in order to focus on Nevada and other upcoming states, and former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum was forced to suspend his campaigning to deal with a sick child, all four remaining candidates worked the road in the first Western contest of the season. After coming in 14 points behind Romney in Florida, Newt Gingrich was hoping for a solid comeback but could not rely on a strong debate performance, as there was not one in advance of the latest battle. On Saturday night he finished well behind Romney, rolling up just 22.7 percent of the vote (with 71 percent of precincts reporting at press time). While Romney took to the stage in a room full of cheering supporters, the Gingrich headquarters was a stark contrast, an empty room where the former House Speaker spoke to reporters via television. “I am a candidate for president of the United States,” Gingrich said. “I will be the candidate of the president of the United States.” Romney won Nevada handily in 2008, taking 51 percent of the vote because his rivals in the last GOP primary race basically let him run unopposed assuming the state’s large Mormon population would ensure Romney — who is Mormon — a win. Though Mormons only account for 7 percent of the state’s population (around 180,000), they are rabid voters and reliably make up one-quarter of Republican caucus-goers. But it wasn’t it as clear-cut this time. Even Santorum, who has moved to the back of the pack since his recount win in Iowa a month ago, put up a strong battle, though he ended up in fourth place with just 11.1 percent. And Paul, who was counting on the state’s vocal Tea Party contingent and independent voters to come out for him, had a decent showing in third place with 18.6 percent. As he did in Florida, Romney came in with a much bigger ground game than the rest of the field, a record of visiting the state often over the past year-and-a-half and, for what it’s worth, the endorsement of real-estate mogul and once-potential candidate Donald Trump. Regardless of the results, unlike winner-take-all Florida, no actual delegates will be awarded following the Nevada caucus. As in Iowa, delegates will be elected to go to the county convention and then to a state gathering, who will then decide where the state’s 34 delegates go to the GOP convention in Tampa. It’s possible the delegates who go to Florida in late August may not reflect the final results of Saturday’s vote. Voting also began Saturday in Maine’s caucus, whose vote will take place over the next week. More voters go to the polls on Tuesday, when Colorado and Minnesota also caucus.
