Sad news out of Nashville today, as multiple outlets are reporting that country music icon Don Williams has passed away at the age of 78. Best known for such hit songs as “Tulsa Time,” “Good Ole Boys Like Me,” and “It Must Be Love,” Williams’ tall stature and soothing, baritone voice earned him the nickname “the Gentle Giant.” Williams’ death was confirmed today by a statement from his publicist, who revealed that the singer passed away at home following “a short illness.” After beginning his career with the folk-pop outlet the Pozo-Seco Singers in early ’60s, Williams went solo in 1972. He charted his first hit with “The Shelter of Your Eyes” the following year. From there, Williams quickly developed a reputation as one of the country world’s most talented vocalists. He remained a favorite among country music purists for decades, scoring number one hits as recently as the ’90s, and amassing huge followings in such unlikely corners of the world as Kenya and New Zealand. Following the news of his death, thousands of fans, friends, and fellow musicians took to social media to pay tribute to Williams. The diversity of artists who cite him as a major influence is a testament to Williams’ universal appeal and unmatched songwriting prowess. Earlier this year, a collection of artists including Dierks Bentley, Brandy Clark, Lady Antebellum, and Jason Isbell recorded covers of their favorite Williams’ tunes for the tribute album Gentle Giants: The Songs of Don Williams . “In giving voice to songs like ‘Good Ole Boys Like Me,’ ‘Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good,’ and ‘Amanda,’ Don Williams offered calm, beauty, and a sense of wistful peace that is in short supply these days,” said Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum CEO Kyle Young in a statement released moments ago. “His music will forever be a balm in troublesome times. Everyone who makes country music with grace, intelligence, and ageless intent will do so while standing on the shoulders of this gentle giant.” In March of 2016, Williams announced that he would be retiring from touring and recording after more than fifty years in the music industry. “It’s time to hang my hat up and enjoy some quiet time at home,” Williams said in his final interview. “I’m so thankful for my fans, my friends and my family for their everlasting love and support,” Williams is survived by his wife, Joy, and their two sons. We’re always on the lookout for an update on Paris Jackson’s life. Maybe it’s a new photo, maybe it’s a meme. it’s actually usually a meme. This time, though, the 19-year-old model has shared two new So, remember Paris Jackson’s new tattoo ? The one of the chakras that runs along her chest. She’s showing it off again, but this time she’s outdoors among some beautiful flowers. Plus, she’s flashing a little sideboob. That never hurts. Paris Jackson is full of life, love, and she’s so carefree! She’s also an intensely spiritual person . She has her detractors, because people love to hate celebrities — but also because some people can’t stand to see someone happy and want to try their best to ruin someone’s day. We’re not saying that we always agree with her on everything, though watching Paris Jackson bash white supremacy really warmed the cockles of our hearts. But given that her family’s tragedies (some of which are ongoing) create circumstances in which she could have been a miserable person who didn’t even make it to adulthood, we’re so happy that she’s found a life path that brings her a sense of fulfillment. Plus, she’s just a treat to follow. (We love memes!) And, as we said, super spiritual with a New Agey vibe … but in a way that seems way more chill than, like, the way that some other folks can be. Like we said, she’s showing a little sideboob, there. Paris Jackson doesn’t shy away from sharing topless selfies , so some sideboob is nothing. She looks great, though! The next photo shows a much closer look at her latest tattoo. This tattoo has a powerful spiritual meaning, since it portrays the seven chakras. Paris recently posted to Instagram about the feelings of spiritual contentment that she achieves from really embracing the natural world. “I can honestly say that before this week, i have never been able to show my true form to more than one person at a time. being able to channel my higher self and just vibrate at a frequency where i am one with the fluidity of mama gaia as well as the beautiful souls i had the pleasure of creating with, has been a journey i will never forget.” There’s a lot of New Age spirituality that borrows from other faith traditions, like certain polytheistic faiths, and includes animistic beliefs. You can see a lot of that in Paris’ writing. “Embracing the gifts, facing my mortality, connecting with new and old friends. i thank everyone around me for this growth, the moon, mercury, my guides, and great spirit. i never want to lose this feeling.” Hey, for what it’s worth, we hope that she never loses this feeling, either. We’re happy to see her happy. If you still need a better look at that tattoo, here’s a glimpse with better lighting. Paris censored that herself, of course, per Instagram’s infamous hang-ups about women and their “scandalous” nip nops. Anyway, you don’t have to share Paris’ beliefs to admire her level of devotion to improving her life and maintaining her overall well-being. We think that it’s great that she continues to share so much of herself and personal journey with fans and followers. A lot of celebrity kids run from the spotlight, but Paris has found a powerful way to embrace it. And she can teach a lot of people about body positivity in the process.
Mark Zuckerberg is something of a divisive figure these days. Sure, he founded a service that most of us use every day, and he says he’s committed to making the world a better place, but at the same time, there are many who believe he’s more responsible than anyone else for the proliferation of “fake news” that loomed so large over the 2016 election. Plus, we’re sick of getting notifications every time someone on our friends list “goes live” to show off their new haircut, ya know. Anyway, the Zuck seems like an okay guy who’s probably a bit over his head as chief of arguably the world’s most important media outlet, but that’s a conversation for another time. Today, all we have to say to Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan is, congratulations on bringing another billionaire baby into the world! Yes, Zuckerberg announced yesterday on Facebook (natch) that he and wife Priscilla Chan had welcomed a baby girl named August. She’s the second child for the couple, who welcomed daughter Max in 2015. As he did when Max was born, Zuckerberg penned a moving open letter to his baby girl: “Welcome to the world! Your mom and I are so excited to see who you will become,” he began. Zuckerberg then referenced the viral letter that he wrote to Max, before revealing that he’d like to take a slightly different tone this time around. “When your sister was born, we wrote a letter about the world we hoped she and now you will grow up in — a world with better education, fewer diseases, stronger communities, and greater equality … We’re optimists about your generation and the future,” the billionaire CEO wrote. Zuckerberg concludes with an ode to the magic of child that’s sure to bring a tear to any parent’s eye: “You will be busy when you’re older, so I hope you take time to smell all the flowers and put all the leaves you want in your bucket now. I hope you read your favorite Dr. Seuss books so many times you start inventing your own stories about the Vipper of Vipp. “I hope you ride the carousel with Max until you’ve tamed every color horse. I hope you run as many laps around our living room and yard as you want. “And then I hope you take a lot of naps. I hope you’re a great sleeper. And I hope even in your dreams you can feel how much we love you. “Childhood is magical. You only get to be a child once, so don’t spend it worrying too much about the future. As the hive suspected, Beyoncé DID give birth this week according to multiple sources. “Bey and Jay are thrilled and have started sharing the news with their family and closest friends,” a source tells PEOPLE. Great news right? While we are disappointed that Bey has yet to unveil the photoshoot of Blueprint 1 and Blueprint 2 that is surely coming, E! news issued reports of a Jay Z and Blue Ivy sighting at a L.A. area hospital Thursday as well as an exclusive item about a hospital visitor arriving with a pink and a blue balloon that has led to reports that the babies are a boy and a girl: An unidentified woman was photographed Friday at a Los Angeles hospital, carrying a bouquet of pink, purple and blue flowers with two giant baby foot-shaped pink and blue balloons that read, “Baby Girl” and “Baby Boy.” An eyewitness said the woman walked into the front of the building, then got back into her car and drove into an underground parking lot. She emerged five minutes later without the flowers. The woman’s gift also contained a card that reads, yep, “B & J.” What do you think they’ll name the twins? There is one episode remaining on Once Upon a Time season 6. And, on a related note, there is also just one episode remaining for Jennifer Morrison as a lead character on Once Upon a Time. The actress has announced she’s leaving the show. Now, one important caveat to keep in mind is this: ABC is yet to renew Once Upon a Time beyond this season. Many fans have anticipated for many weeks now that Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 21 (titled “The Final Battle”) will mark the conclusion of the beloved drama. And now we have an even stronger reason to believe this will be the case. Still, long-time followers of the program are reacting with sadness to Morrison’s announcement. “As I reached the end of my 6 year contract on ONCE UPON A TIME, I was faced with a significant decision,” the star wrote on Instagram this morning, adding: “ABC, Eddy Kitsis, and Adam Horowitz very generously invited me to continue as a series regular. After very careful consideration, I have decided that creatively and personally, it is time for me to move on.” Morrison has anchored the series as Emma Swan since the premiere. She concluded her statement as follows: Emma Swan is one my favorite characters that I have ever played. My 6 years on ONCE UPON A TIME has changed my life in the most beautiful ways. I am absolutely blown away by the passion and commitment of the Oncer fans. I am so honored to have been a central part of such a special show. I will be forever grateful to Adam, Eddy, and ABC for giving me the gift of playing Emma Swan. It’s also worth noting that simply because Morrison is leaving, this doesn’t mean she’s leaving her fan base high and dry forever. The actress promised loyal Once Upon a Time viewers that she’ll continue to make appearances at fan conventions whenever she can. “As I move on to other creative endeavors, I will continue to attend the fan conventions whenever my professional schedule allows,” she wrote. “I always look forward meeting the fans.” Finally, if ABC does , indeed, pick the show up for a seventh season, Morrison is willing to return and wrap up her character’s storyline. “If ABC Network does in fact order a season 7, I have agreed to appear in one episode, and I will most certainly continue to watch ONCE UPON A TIME,” she assured fans. “The creativity of the show runners has always inspired me, and I cannot wait to see the ways that they continue to develop and reinvent the show.” View Slideshow: 13 TV Shows Ending In 2017 NOTE to ABC: Do not pick up Once Upon a Time for Season 7. Clown attacks are spreading like really disturbing wildfire across the United States. There's a sentence we never thought we'd write. But there have been clown sightings in South Carolina and in Ohio over the past couple weeks, with witnesses saying these clowns are not exactly asking to simply juggle or squeeze into car. They seem to be up to no good. In responses to these clown attacks, Twitter is fighting back.
