Brittney Griner, a star for the Phoenix Mercury of the WNBA, was chased around by a knife-wielding maniac and stabbed last night in China when she tried to board her team bus. Griner is playing for the Beijing Great Wall of the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association during the WNBA offseason and was departing a practice facility with two teammates when the culprit confronted the group with his weapon. The former Baylor standout was slashed on the elbow, but made it on to the bus relatively unscathed. The assailant left the scene before later returning for some reason, covered in blood. He was then apprehended by local police and taken into custody. It remains unclear what provoked the incident, though Griner is a lesbian who is engaged to fellow WNBA star Glory Johnson . Joe Giudice is due in court today to be sentenced for possession of a fraudulent driver’s license. It’s small potatoes compared to the fraud charges that have already gotten Giudice sentenced to 41 months in prison, but even so, one might expect his wife to join him in court. Instead, sources say Teresa was a no show because she will be meeting with a divorce attorney to begin the process of ending her 14-year marriage to Joe. Rumors that Joe and Teresa are headed for divorce have been circulating for months, but insiders say that we’ll no longer have to speculate as to the state of the Giudice’s marriage: Teresa is intent on calling it quits. Reportedly, the Giudices have been living in separate homes ever since they were both sentenced to serve prison time at a hearing last month. Teresa is said to be fed up with Joe’s drinking and negligent parenting, and friends say she continues to blame her husband for the fact that she’ll have to report to prison on January 5. Proving that even smart men can make dumb decisions, Jennings took to his social media page last night and wrote: “Nothing sadder than a hot person in a wheelchair.” Jennings did not put his quote in any kind of context (not that any would really excuse it; safe to assume he simply saw an attractive handicapped person) and it instantly drew a rebuke from followers. Many referred to the message as “hurtful” and “disappointing,” with a couple more notable examples reading: To any young people out there with a disability, you are perfect just the way you are. Vin Diesel has shared a new photo on social media of himself and the late Paul Walker in the upcoming seventh installment of the Fast and Furious franchise. Universal sent him some photos, Diesel said on Facebook, along with the movie’s trailer. Naturally, he was quick to share this photo of the co-stars and friends: “Universal came to visit, to show the trailer for FF7 ,” Vin wrote. “Speechless… yeah, it was that INCREDIBLE! I must also say, that it was emotional and bittersweet.” “We all went above and beyond to make Pablo proud,” he adds, “but man, I wish he could see what we have created and just how far we have come.” By Pablo he means Paul Walker, who died in a car accident last Thanksgiving weekend at age 40, leaving a beautiful daughter, and legacy, behind. Even though the star’s tragic death delayed Fast and Furious 7 considerably, the filmmakers used CGI and Walker’s two brothers to complete it. Paul is survived by his four siblings – two brothers, two sisters – and his teenage daughter, Meadow Walker , who has understandably taken his loss very hard. The future of Fast and Furious 7 was very much in doubt for some time after Walker passed, but Diesel and company feel this will be a fitting tribute. It will be dedicated to Walker’s memory, as without the late actor’s contributions, there would be no seventh film – or franchise in general, to put it mildly. Sadly, when it debuts in April 2015, it will be Paul’s final film, and his character Brian O’Connor will be retired from the franchise, whatever comes of it.
