Foraging Gets Trendy: But Is Trendy Sustainable?

Image credit: Channel 4 Only last month we heard, via Food and Wine , about eating dirt as the latest weird restaurant trend . And it seems this magazine, which is usually a champion of unbridled luxury, and even excess, is on somewhat of a sustainability kick these days. Sure, there are still plenty of ads for cruises and SUVs and living the high life, but they are interspersed with articles on solar … Read the full story on TreeHugger

Drake, Nicki Minaj Open Up About His ‘Crush’ On Her

Drake says the MCs have a ‘playful relationship.’ By Mawuse Ziegbe Nicki Minaj and Drake Photo: Young Money/Cash Money Young Money stars Nicki Minaj and Drake are two of the hottest MCs in hip-hop, and their relationship has some thinking that the pair are hooking up in ways beyond a label affiliation. The stars were candid about their feelings for each other in recent interviews with MTV2’s “Sucker Free Countdown” — and addressed rumors that their relationship isn’t strictly platonic. “Me and Nicki have a really playful relationship,” Drake told DJ Envy. “When I was on tour … I saw Nicki for the first time and, like, literally fell in love. She had this snap-back hat on that said ‘Minaj.’ She used to wear that every single day. She was like a theater student and she was so cold at rapping.” Drake — who rushed to Minaj’s defense last week after Lil’ Kim said some untoward things about her — said that before breaking through, he had to contend with her somewhat icy demeanor. “I remember one of the first nights that we were out in Miami and I went to Jerry’s [Famous Deli]. I was like [to Minaj], ‘You want food, you hungry?,’ and she was like, ‘Yeah, I want some food.’ I was like, ‘I’m in, we gon’ eat food together.’ I came to her door and she took the food and shut the door in my face! I was just like, ‘Man, this is gonna be a long road for us.’ ” But Drake maintains that his feelings for her have always been genuine. “I’ve always really, actually, really had a crush on her, always really loved her, and she’s always just looked at me as, like, her little brother.” Envy pointed to a line on the track “Miss Me” from Drake’s Thank Me Later LP — which is released Tuesday — where he says he wants to put a ring on it as proof of his true feelings for Minaj. “I love Nicki Minaj/ I told her I’d admit it/ I hope one day we get married just to say we f—ing did it/ And girl, I’m f—ing serious/ I’m with it if you with it/ ‘Cause your verses turn me on and your pants are mighty fitted,” Drake spits. But Drizzy insisted the lyric is not that deep. “That line on the album is just me playing with her. I’ll be playing with her for years until she’s ready to go, and then I’m ready,” he added. For her part, Minaj shrugged off any notion that she and the Young Money heartthrob are more than friends. She giggled when Envy broached the subject but then immediately shut down rumors. “Drake does not have a crush on me,” Minaj assured Envy. When Envy brought up the “Miss Me” lyric, Minaj responded, “Drake knows how to get you guys’ attention.” As one of the most sought-after MCs in the game right now, Minaj is probably getting stepped to all the time. But when Envy asked how dudes should approach the diva, she dismissed the idea of a relationship. “I don’t want to be hollered at right now. I just don’t. I wanna go and hibernate and coop up somewhere and be alone,” said Minaj, adding that she’s waiting until after her debut hits shelves before she gets scooped up. “Then maybe we can talk.” Catch more Nicki Minaj with DJ Envy on the “Sucker Free Summer Countdown” from Boston’s 94.5 Summer Jam, this Sunday, June 20, at noon ET only on MTV2. The Five-Morning After Pill?

A European contraceptive pill that works as a five-day alternative to the “morning after” pill may be coming to the U.S.‘s shores, but a thorny debate around the drug’s use and its chemical relation to the RU-486 abortion pill may have influence on the FDA’s endorsement. The FDA is staged to examine the risks of the new drug next week, but arguments are already heated as sides debate issues around when life begins and the rights of women to control their own bodies. —JCL The Washington Post: A French drug company is hoping to offer American women something their European counterparts already have: a pill that works long after “the morning after.” The drug, dubbed ella, would be sold as a contraceptive—one that could prevent pregnancy for as many as five days following unprotected sex. But the new drug is a close chemical relative of the abortion pill RU-486, raising the possibility that it could theoretically be used to induce abortion by making the womb inhospitable for an embryo. The controversy sparked by that ambiguity will force a panel of federal advisers scheduled to consider endorsing the drug next week to grapple with a host of thorny issues. The last time the Food and Drug Administration vetted an emergency contraceptive—Plan B, the so-called morning-after pill—the decision was mired in debate over such fundamental questions as when life begins and the distinction between preventing and terminating a pregnancy. Ella is raising many of those same politically charged questions—but more sharply, testing the Obama administration’s pledge to keep ideology from influencing scientific decisions. Selling Fear: Beck and Hannity shill for apocalyptic ‘Food Insurance’

Beck: “Remember, the reason why there was such a food shortage during the Great Depression is because of the policies of the federal government getting into the food business.” “We burned crops. We destroyed crops trying to keep food prices high, high enough so people could grow it. And what did we create? Starvation and bread lines. What are we doing today? We're working on global frickin' warming with ethanol that doesn't work and we're the first in our — in the history of the world to burn our food supply, to the point to where we're importing wheat. It's a giant cycle.” “It's a giant circle that you can't find the beginning and you can't find the end and if you can't find the beginning or the end, you don't know where the exit is.” “You know what? There's no need to hoard food, there's no need to panic!” http://www.foodinsurance.com/food_insurance/news.php http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/198/8873/ http://www.digitaljournal.com/img/8/7/8/i/5/5/9/o/glennbeck.jpg added by: jeffissleeping

Some More Miley Performing Pictures With Ass of the Day

I have spent the better part of the morning talking to a girl who was 16 and 3/4 about sex. I was doing it for research purposes, because I tend to lose touch with 16 year olds the less time I spend in Starbucks and American Apparel. She pretty much told me that she’s been fucking her 18 year old boyfriend consistently for over a year. She was a gymnast and appreciates her flexibility. She showered with a girlfriend and 3 guys just last weekend and she is down with giving blowjobs, but prefers to get fucked from behind, sometimes by more than one person, as long as they cum in her and play with her large tits, since all teenage girls have huge tits these days…. When I was 16 and 3/4 the only pussy I was getting was the fat chick who craved male attention and wanted as much cock as she could get and really was willing to put anything she found inside her. The hot girls were virgins and in longterm relationships waiting for that special night and the slutty hot girls were fucking older dudes with cars. I still got pussy…but it was nothing like the anal loving/ cock sucking/ group sex parties motherfuckers are into at 16 and 3/4 now, because of hormones in the food, the internet, oversexed population and now Miley Cyrus, who I think deserves a thank you for sacrificing her throat to make her contribution.. New Uses For Old Malls: Urban Farms

Ever since Architect Eb Zeidler riffed on the Galleria in Milan for his Eaton Centre in Toronto in the ’70s, a lot of malls have been covered with glorious glass roofs. Many downtown malls were built as urban renewal and revitalization projects, but few of them thrived; after killing off the main street retail around them, they most have died on their own. But they still have those glorious glass roofs. PSFK points us to Cleveland, where … Read the full story on TreeHugger
