Source: John Greim / Getty The College Admissions Schemes Continue College admission bribery is alive and well, even outside of the hot mess case involving Lori Loughin and Felicity Huffman. According to New York Post , a longtime fencing coach for Harvard University is being investigated for allegedly recruiting a high school student whose dad bought the coach’s house for far more than it was worth. The real estate deal went down in May 2016 when coach Peter Brand sold his three-bedroom Colonial-style house in suburban Massachusetts. He sold it to Jie “Jack” Zhao for $989,500. However, its assessed value was only $549,300, according to the Boston Globe . Zhao’s younger son was later accepted to Harvard and joined the fencing team. Meanwhile, Zhao, who made loads of money in the telecom industry, sold the house he bought after 17 months. Get this…he only sold it for $665,000, according to the Globe. The $324,500 loss was nearly one-third of what he had paid for the house. The bribery aromas are thick. Needham Director of Assessing Chip Davis said that Zhao’s purchase of the house was so out of line with its assessed value that the property was itching for an inspection. He described the house as being “in bad shape” and wrote in his notes that its nearly $1 million sale price “makes no sense.” Harvard said they were conducting an “independent review” of the Globe ‘s findings, with spokesperson Rachael Dane saying, “We are committed to ensuring the integrity of our recruitment practices.” In the most public college admissions bribery case where 33 wealthy parents were prosecuted, including Felicity Huffman and Lor Loughlin, Harvard was not implicated in the case. Although, a soccer coach at another ivy league school, Yale University, recently pleaded guilty to bribery charges and is cooperating with the feds. Zhao, whose older son graduated from Harvard last year and was also on the fencing team, denies any bribery schemes to get his younger son into Harvard. “I want to help Peter Brand because I feel so sorry he has to travel so much to go to fencing practice,” he told the Globe, which said Harvard is around a 12-mile drive from the house in Needham. Mhm.

Source: Miami-Dade county police / Mugshot Florida Man Charged For Hitting Lawyer And His Family While High On Whip Cream A Florida man was jailed Wednesday afternoon for killing a lawyer while high on adult-themed nitrous oxide, the Miami Herald reports . Joseph Franco, 27, is accused of killing Amir Pelleg, 43 in July 2018 and injuring his wife and two young daughters. After hitting the family, witnesses told police, Franco, on his phone, dumped a duffel bag in a nearby garbage can. Inside of the duffle bag, Police found 12 used canisters of nitrous oxide, and nine more unused ones. Franco was initially charged with tampering with evidence and distribution of nitrous oxide. The cans were labeled “XXX Platinum Triple Refined Cream Chargers,” an adult-themed product ostensibly used to make whipped cream. “Ready for slathering,” according to the packaging of one box being sold online. Investigators say the “whippets” are used mostly for inhaling the gas, which gives users a euphoric jolt. After further investigation, police believe that Franco was actually high on the “whippets” when he crash. His car’s black box also showed he did not brake or even steer before he hit the family. Franco had been on house arrest awaiting trial on the tampering charge before surrendering Wednesday to face the enhanced charges.

Source: Seamind Panadda / EyeEm / Getty Her Parents Also Get Booked Twenty-six-year-old Jenny Ambuila was a social media influencer sharing her lavish Miami lifestyle with the world, no doubt, causing many people to weep over their basic a$$ life. Designer clothes, expensive cars luxury vacations in Europe…whatever she had, she flaunted it. But now, according to DailyMail , Ms. Ambuila was allegedly a big fat scammity-scam scammer. Ambuila was arrested on Friday, along with her father Omar Ambuila and mother Elba Chara, for a major money laundering scheme in Colombia. She was on vacation in Colombia, her birth country, when the arrest happened. According to prosecutors, Ambuila’s father worked as a mid-level customs officer at the Colombian sea port of Buenaventura, and he allegedly pocketed millions of dollars in exchange for allowing untaxed goods to pass into the country. Meanwhile, Jenny was charged for money laundering, and she’s currently on house arrest in Colombia, while her parents are in prison for additional charges of aiding smugglers and corruption. Their arrests are apart of a bigger plan by Colombian investigators to stop smuggling goods into local markets. “This is a fundamental case in our fight against smuggling. We are going after all of this corrupt structure, and the resources behind them,” said Andres Jimenez, a Colombian prosecutor. According to Jimenez, Omar Ambuila received at least $600,000 in bribes since 2012 in overseas payments, and he had the potential to receive much more. All these illegal funds were allegedly sent to Ambuila’s daughter at the University of Miami, which she attended from 2013 to 2017 and earned her bachelor’s degree in finance. The irony. “In exchange for their illicit act, these two people (Ambuila and the other official of the Dian) and other alleged accomplices would have received millionaire dividends that were hidden through front companies or were turned over to their relatives to acquire goods and services that would exceed their economic capacity,” prosecutors explained. Meanwhile, Jenny was out here strolling through Gucci, waltzing in Dolce & Gabanna, and traveling to places like Milan and Paris…all for Instagram and Facebook to see. You’d think with supposedly illegal fund, she’d try to keep it cute and humble. But of course, her extravagant posts are exactly what led to speculation of her family. Investigators browsed through her social media posts and investigated her purchases, especially her 2017 purchase of a Lamborghini Huracan Spyder, which is worth more than $300,000. She also purchased a Porsche Cayenne while living in Miami. View this post on Instagram Cómo nuevo! On Friday, when Ambuila was arrested, she was of course dressed in a Gucci t-shirt as an officer read out her charges. Smh. Well, at least she looked cute.
