Pop superstar MADONNA has appealed to a Malawian judge to postpone her forthcoming court appearance in her ongoing adoption case, because the date clashes with her U.S. promotional duties for new album HARD CANDY. The Music hitmaker and her director husband Guy Ritchie are due to attend a hearing in Malawi next week (begs07Apr08), when a judge at the country’s High Court is expected to formally approve the couple’s adoption of two-year-old David Banda. But on Thursday (03Apr08), Madonna’s lawyers filed a motion to delay the important hearing until the end of April (08). A court official says, “They have made that application at (the) High Court today and the judge is expected to respond this afternoon.” The initial 2006 adoption caused outrage in the African nation; Madonna and Ritchie were accused of side-stepping the official adoption process. However, the Hollywood stars appear to have won over Malawian officials with their parenting skills. In a confidential report dated 25 March (08) – which has been leaked onto the internet – Probation Officer S. Chisale at the Ministry of Women and Child Development praises the couple for looking after Banda so well. Perez Hilton As A Clerk? Hear About It On ‘When I Was 17’!

New MTV show premieres Saturday at 11 a.m.! By Eric Ditzian Photo: MTV News How does one train to become the face behind one of the most popular celebrity gossip sites on the Web? Where does one go to pick up the skills necessary to score scoops, start feuds and become a celeb in ones own right? Apparently, one heads straight to … the department store? That’s what Perez Hilton did in his teenage years, as he reveals in this Saturday’s premiere of MTV’s new show, “When I Was 17.” “All throughout high school, I always had summer jobs,” he explains. “So when I was 17, I got this job working at a department store. It was called Byrons, and I was a clerk. It was my job to separate the hangers.” How hard could that be? Well, try doing it all day, every day, for an entire summer. That is dedication. “At department stores, they must have 10 different types of hangers,” he says. “They have kid hangers, adult hangers, lingerie hangers, transparent hangers, solid hangers. I would just be there separating hangers for hours and hours and hours.” OK, so maybe that’s not where Hilton picked up his nose for fresh gossip. But now that he has become a celebrity himself, he follows the example of just one person. “Madonna is my ultimate icon,” he says. “Some people ask themselves, ‘What would Jesus do?’ I say, ‘F— that! What would Madonna do?’ ” That’s the sort of insight into today’s celebs that you’ll get on “When I Was 17.” The premiere episode — featuring Trey Songz , Khloe Kardashian and Hilton — airs Saturday (May 1) at 11 a.m. on MTV. Ne-Yo Credits ‘Chemistry’ With Rick Ross For ‘Super High’ Collaboration

‘It’s just an honor to be on the joint,’ Ne-Yo says of the single. By Jayson Rodriguez, with additional reporting by Kelly Marino Ne-Yo Photo: MTV News Rick Ross has scored hits with crooners John Legend (“Magnificent”) and R. Kelly (“Speedin’ “), but his latest, “Super High,” with Ne-Yo , has the potential to be his biggest success yet. The track is the pair’s second collaboration following Deeper Than Rap ‘s “Bossy Lady.” According to Ne-Yo, it was their working relationship that convinced the Boss to recruit his labelmate for “Super High,” the lead single from his forthcoming Teflon Don album. “It was a chemistry thing, so when he put this one together, he said I was one of the first people he called about it,” Ne-Yo told MTV News from the “Super High” video set . “Ross is just a cool dude. I respect his lyrical ability. There’s only a few in the game that really say something when they say something, and Ross is one of those few. So it’s just an honor to be on the joint.” The song has been added radio-station playlists across the country, including New York’s Hot 97 and Power 105. Ne-Yo is currently working on the follow-up to his last album, Year of the Gentleman, which he hopes to release this September. The project is still untitled, but the songwriter explained that the collection will consist of songs inspired by a screenplay he’s written. The Grammy winner was coy with details but said the set will be one of the best R&B albums ever heard. Do you think Rick Ross works best with Ne-Yo? Let us know in the comments! Eminem Calls Relapse ‘Ehh’ In New Song, ‘Not Afraid’

‘Let’s be honest, that last Relapse CD was ehh, ‘ Em raps on lead single from Recovery. By Shaheem Reid Eminem Photo: Chelsea Lauren/ Getty Images Eminem unveiled “Not Afraid,” the first single from his forthcoming Recovery album , on Thursday morning (April 29), and the track is a strong departure from the usual lead cuts Slim Shady delivers: There are no jabs at pop-culture icons, no jovial goofballing. Mr. Mathers is reflective and remorseful over the Boi-1da-produced track. “It’s been a ride, I guess I had to go to that place to get to this one. Some of you might still be in that place. If you trying to get out, follow me,” he says, talking at the beginning of the track. As the raps starts to kick in, Em threatens to “tear down” those who looked down on him. “You can try to read my lyrics off of this paper before I lay ’em/ But you won’t take the sting out these words before I say ’em. “I’m not afraid/ To take a stand,” he continues on the chorus. “Everybody come take my hand/ We’ll walk this road together through the storm/ Whatever weather come the war/ Just letting you know that you’re not alone/ Holla if you feel been down the same road.” On the second verse, Em admits to some artistic missteps and declares that his last album, Relapse, was a bit of letdown. “To the fans, I never let you down again, I’m back/ I promise to never go back on that promise,” the MC says in the song’s second verse. “In fact, let’s be honest/ That last Relapse CD was ehh / Perhaps I ran them accents into the ground/ Relax, I ain’t going to do that now.” Later in the verse, Em talks about his personal struggles. “But I think I’m still trying to figure this crap out/ Thought I had it mapped out, but I guess I didn’t/ It’s time to exorcise these demons / These muthaf—as are doing jumping jacks now.” As the song comes to a close, Em says he doesn’t want any more drama and wants to focus on raising his family. “I can’t just keep living this way,” he sings. “So starting today, I’m breaking out of this cage / I’m standing up, I’mma face my demons/ I’m manning up, I’mma hold my ground/ I’ve had enough, I’m so fed up/ Time to put my life back together right now.” Recovery is slated for a June 22 release. The Hills’ Final Season to Premiere April 27

The Hills are alive … with a season and series finale this summer. All we have to say is that this is a sad, sad day, for Spencer Pratt . Just when Heidi Montag’s DDD “hills” were starting to rival the size of the Hollywood area the show is named after, MTV said the forthcoming Season Six will be its last . The new season, debuting Tuesday, April 27, begins the final chapter. “We owe it to the fans and the show to go out on a high note,” says MTV president Tony DiSanto. “This season will deliver on that goal in terms of drama, story, real emotion, and an organic culmination of this saga.” Not that we’re being overdramatic at all there . The ladies of The Hills filming … possibly for the last time. Final episodes of The Hills feature Heidi Montag’s plastic surgery being revealed to her mom, a scene executive producer Liz Gateley calls “touching, but heartbreaking.” The cameras will also follow the cast dealing with substance abuse: Kristin Cavallari faces rumors of drug use after partying in Miami, and Stephanie Pratt gets a DUI. Meanwhile, Audrina Patridge will date Ashlee Simpson’s reality TV ex, Ryan Cabrera. They tease the possible return of Lauren Conrad , but MTV makes no promises. As for Spencer, who’s on anger management hiatus from Hills filming to “deal with some stuff,” creator Adam DiVello says “he’ll still be in most of the episodes.” Phew. All 18 of you can officially exhale, reading this at home. Are you sad The Hills is ending? Or has it run its course?

Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato And Joe Jonas Take Over ‘American Idol’

This week’s mentor sings ‘When I Look at You’ while the new couple tackle ‘Make a Wave.’ By Katie Byrne Miley Cyrus on “American Idol” Wednesday Photo: Fox On Tuesday night, Miley Cyrus dished out advice to the “American Idol” contestants to maximize their performances. On Wednesday night (March 24), however, the Disney princess took the stage herself to sing “When I Look at You” from her upcoming movie “The Last Song.” Cyrus seemed to take her own advice by connecting with the audience and making eye contact during the dramatic performance. Dressed in a long, white-satin dress, she started out playing a grand piano engulfed in fog and singing in a hushed tone. The quiet beginning belied what was still to come. Once Miley stood up from the piano bench and took center stage for the second verse, she started belting out the song. Fitting the song’s power-ballad feel, she even did some head-banging, whipping her long, wavy hair around violently as her guitarist tackled his solo. The last line of the song — “You appear just like a dream to me” — matched the fantasy-like stage design, which included trees covered in twinkling lights. The next performers in the jam-packed results show were new couple Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato , who sang their Friends for Change: Project Green song “Make a Wave.” The inspirational track — which is set to be featured in the upcoming Disney film “Oceans” — stresses the importance of protecting the world’s water habitat. The pair stood side-by-side for the first verse before finally facing each other during the chorus, giving the audience just what they wanted. Demi even sang right to her Jonas Brother when she sang the line: “Let’s show a little love.” “Good chemistry between these two onstage right now,” Seacrest joked at the end of the performance. ‘The Hills’: Next Season Will Be Its Last

‘The Hills: Final Season’ to premiere April 27. By MTV News staff Kristin Cavallari Photo: Miranda Penn Turin The season finale of “The Hills” in December left a lot of unanswered questions: Will Kristin and Justin Bobby last? Was that really the last time Audrina and Justin Bobby will ever speak? Will Brody actually break up with Jayde? And will Heidi and Spencer ever have a little Pratt? Those questions will become a lot more dramatic during the show’s sixth and final season, which was announced by Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday (March 24). Yes, the forthcoming season will be the show’s last. “I think we’ve told the story of struggle and of finding yourself in L.A.,” creator Adam DiVello told EW. “A lot of these kids have found themselves and have certainly embarked on different careers and different paths.” Indeed, many of the events of the past few months find their way into the season, including Heidi Montag’s plastic surgery, the results of which she shows to her mother in the first episode. “We tell the whole story,” DeVello said. “We pick right up where Heidi goes and sees her parents. And our cameras are there that minute the mother opens the door and sees her daughter for the first time.” Executive producer Liz Gateley added, “It’s a really touching but heartbreaking scene to watch.” DiVello also commented on rumors that Montag’s husband Spencer Pratt had left the show. “Spencer is dealing with some stuff right now, and once he gets through that, we’ll be back to shooting with Spencer again. Bottom line is you will see him. He’ll be in most of the episodes.” Also in the show’s final 12 episodes, fans will see Audrina Patridge dating singer Ryan Cabrera and Kristin Cavallari contending with rumors of drug abuse. “When Kristin was in Miami for the Super Bowl, there was definitely some late nights for her and some speculation that she might be partying a little too hard,” Gateley said. “So we’re definitely going to cover that part of Kristin. We’re pretty much covering everything you’ve read [about in the tabloids].” And perhaps most pressing of all, will Lauren Conrad, who left the show in 2009, be back? We’ll just have to wait and see, although DiVello did say: “I always joked it would be nice to see Lauren get married.” “The Hills: Final Season” premieres on April 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT followed by “The City” at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
