By Eric Ditzian Daniel Craig Photo: Ian Gavan/ Getty Images This summer in Montana, while Daniel Craig was promoting “Cowboys & Aliens,” the actor steered clear of any casting news relating to “Bond 23,” declining to confirm to MTV News long-standing rumors that Ralph Fiennes and Javier Bardem were getting set to join the action flick. A few months later, while promoting “The Adventures of Tintin,” Craig was in more of a giving mood, letting us know that he’s keeping his fingers crossed that Fiennes and Bardem are on set when production on “Bond 23” kicks off in early October. “I hope so,” he said about the two actors. “I hope so.” Bardem confirmed back in February that he was in talks to play a villain in the flick, while rumors have been floating since early in the year that Fiennes was looking to take on an unspecified role. In July, MTV News shot down reports that “Amazing Spider-Man” villain Rhys Ifans had also signed up for “Bond 23,” with the actor telling us, “No, I just have a license to kill.” According to Craig, the way “Bond 23” is coming together has him the most excited about the franchise since he took on the iconic spy role years ago. “We’ve got a great script this time,” he told us. “I’m as excited about this script as I was about the ‘Casino Royale’ script. I think in Sam [Mendes] we’ve got the perfect director. The cast is coming together now. ‘We are extremely happy,’ Duff wrote of expecting first child with husband Mike Comrie. But they had even bigger news for their fans over the weekend. Duff announced on her official website that they are expecting their first child. “Hello everyone! This weekend, Mike and I are celebrating our 1 year anniversary! In memory of the special day, we decided to post some of our favorite pictures from our wedding!” the 23-year-old wrote. “I can’t believe it has already been a year, time really flies when you’re having fun! We also want to share the exciting news that …… BABY MAKES THREE!!!” She added, “We are extremely happy and ready to start this new chapter of our lives. Thanks to everyone for the continued love and support throughout the years! Wow! I am just overwhelmed by all of the wonderful messages everyone is sending! Thank you so much! Big hugs! Xxo” Duff, who rose to fame on the Disney Channel playing Lizzie McGuire, has gone on to become a Hollywood mogul. She met the Edmonton Oilers star in 2009. “[Comrie’s] a great guy. I’ve never met anyone who could say a bad word about him. He’s generous, caring, funny. We just laugh our heads off, which I need in my life,” Duff has said of her husband. “He’s unique. I wouldn’t want to be with someone who wasn’t unique.” Days before she officially announced she was expecting, she spoke to Usmagazine.com about having kids with Comrie, telling the website, “We both love kids and we’re really excited. Reports that Myers had signed a deal for the follow-up to ‘Goldmember’ are contradicted by Deadline New York. By Terri Schwartz Mike Myers Photo: Lee Celano/AFP Oh behave, “Austin Powers” fans, because a sequel might not be in the works just yet. News broke over the weekend that Mike Myers was “signed, sealed, delivered” for “Austin Powers 4,” the long-awaited follow-up to 2002’s “Goldmember.” HitFix confirmed that Myers had signed a deal to return to the franchise, but now Deadline New York is reporting otherwise. The entertainment website is saying that, despite Myers’ interest in the project, no deal has been signed yet. Apparently all that’s happened is that Myers has expressed interest in a proposal for the movie that New Line presented six months ago, and it’s not a full-blown deal. The project had seemingly fallen by the wayside after Myers’ 2008 flick “The Love Guru” tanked at the box office, and he disappeared from Hollywood (barring a brief appearance in “Inglourious Basterds”). But New Line sought to revitalize the project recently and sent out a new offer about six months ago. Deadline is reporting that Myers’ representatives have finally responded that Myers is interested. There’s no word yet on whether Myers’ writing partner Michael McCullers will be back for the fourth installment. “Austin Powers” director Jay Roach also has not been announced for the upcoming flick. In fact, there’s no confirmation that a script has even been written, though New Line commissioned one in 2008 and Myers has frequently said that it’s a work in progress. But this news definitely seems to inspire hope that an “Austin Powers 4” deal is on its way at some point soon. The last MTV News heard about the project was at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival . Only a month earlier, Roach told MTV News that Myers was working on ideas for the script, though it wasn’t completed yet. Myers later echoed that while promoting “Shrek Forever After” at Tribeca. “Things are on track. It’s hard to keep a Stanley Cup team together and I’m very happy how insanely well it’s gone. Then it gets hard to get everybody all together. It’s chugging along,” Myers said. “I’d be very happy to do it in 7-D. I can’t tell you exactly how it works. Actually, I left the plans for it in a bar and somebody saw it. But it’s very exciting.” No word on “7-D” in either the Deadline or the HitFix reports, but fans of the franchise can rest easy knowing that it seems like an “Austin Powers 4” will likely hit theaters over the next few years. Queen Latifah has been tapped to show off her dancing skills in “Dancing With The Stars.” According to TMZ, Queen Latifah and “Jersey Shore” cast member Snooki have signed on to do the next season of “Dancing With The Stars.” Producers for the franchise said they wanted to upgrade the contestants for the new season, which begins next month. We can’t wait to see who Latifah’s partner is! In the first half of our two-part interview with Shaunie O’Neal, she held nothing back as we grilled her on the behind-the-scenes politics surrounding the ever controversial “Basketball Wives” reality series. As our conversation continued Shaunie revealed her thoughts on “Messy” Meeka, the state of Jen & Evelyn’s friendship and “Basketball Wives: LA”. Do you think Jen had a point about Chad being a media-whore? I think it’s absolutely no one’s business. I always tell Evelyn and everybody else, if she’s happy, I’m happy, that’s my friend. What Chad does, doesn’t do, how he does it, is none of my business. As long as she’s happy or they are happy together, I don’t understand why everyone is all like “is it real, is it fake?” I mean they’ve been together like over a year. But Jen is her friend and had concerns, so it’s not like it’s just the public speculating? There’s so much that you guys miss because it’s an hour long show and they don’t want to be a dead horse over 12 hours of the same subject, there’s a lot that you guys miss. I think that Evelyn and Jen’s relationship…they are not as close as they were, they don’t talk everyday like they used to. We’re not bff’s all the time. So again I don’t know where Jen was coming from or how Jen was trying to come at it. I know she wasn’t trying to hurt Evelyn. I think Evelyn needed to get something off her chess to Jen; Jen probably needed to get a few things off of her chest to Evelyn and friendships do go on roller-coasters sometimes. Sometimes you fall out with your best friend in the whole world for 20 years but you figure it out and that’s all that matters. Did Meeka just leave the show never to be heard from again? Meeka was trying to tape within 12 hours of having the physical altercation with Tami. She didn’t want to leave Rome. She was all in for coming back and would be all in for another season, but I’m not sure that’s the direction we would take again because it just didn’t seem to work. You’ve been vocal about not feeling the cast of “Basketball Wives: LA”. Was the LA show a part of your plans for the franchise? I did intend for the show to branch out. I always wanted us to go to different cities. I didn’t know the first was going to be in L.A. beceause I was still in the process of filming season three in Miami. I knew a few of the girls. Gloria from jump was going to be in the L.A. [cast] and I was fine with that. Her sister definitely was not in discussion, I’m a line drawer at some point. I would never have chosen to take that route. Now as it starts to film and things start to happen, this has turned in to, there’s some basketball wives, fiances, girlfriends and then you have ‘I slept with a Basketball player at one time in my life and I’m on the show.’ That’s not ok with me. I wanted some women that actually had relationships with these men that aren’t denied. We look forward to seeing how it all goes down on the reunion special next week. Charles “Bubba” Smith, a former football player best known for his role as Hightower in the Police Academy franchise, passed away today. He was 66. A bit before 1 p.m. local time, police responded to a call from Smith’s Baldwin Hills home. They arrived and found the actor already dead inside. He is believed to have died of natural causes.
