Cannes Film Festival Kicks Off With ‘Robin Hood’

‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,’ ‘Fair Game’ and more films are set to premiere at the fest. By Jocelyn Vena Russell Crowe stars in “Robin Hood” Photo: Universal Pictures Not even rain could dampen the mood as the Cannes Film Festival kicked off Wednesday (May 12) in the French resort town that gives the fest its name. The A-list stars are expected to turn out to premiere several big flicks at this year’s event; Russell Crowe, Naomi Watts and Shia LaBeouf are just a few whose films will be presented at the annual festival, running until May 23. Director Tim Burton leads the judges’ panel, which includes Benicio Del Toro and Kate Beckinsale. The Crowe-starring and Ridley Scott-directed “Robin Hood” opens the festival. “This is the sort of film that you hope for and then you wait for because you get to step into a completely different world,” Crowe told MTV News of taking the role in the period flick. “You actually get to time-travel.” Among this year’s buzzed-about films are the sequel to 1987’s “Wall Street,” the LaBeouf-starring “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,” which sees the young actor teaming with the original flick’s Michael Douglas. Naomi Watts has two films at Cannes: “You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger,” co-starring Josh Brolin and directed by Woody Allen, and the Sean Penn CIA thriller “Fair Game.” Crowe’s “Robin Hood” isn’t slated for the competition portion of the festival; neither are “Wall Street” and “Dark Stranger.” Also at Cannes, Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling will screen “Blue Valentine,” which follows a married couple’s deteriorating union through flashbacks. “It’s a racy movie, so it’s hard to watch those scenes with so many people,” Gosling told MTV News in January, when the film showed at Sundance. “I watched it with my mother, she was beside me. I gave her an iPod. And when the naughty scenes came on, I pressed ‘play’ and covered her eyes.” Which Cannes films are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the comments below! Rubber Teaser: Spend 37 Seconds with the World’s First Homicidal Tire

Summer movie season has got me down , son. Down , like Hollywood pushed me in a shallow grave onto which every studio in town quickly shoveled whatever hype they’d manufactured to date. Suffocating, I was reincarnated as a Johnny Cash song. Stifling! Until this morning, when the French stepped up their game with 37 seconds that took the summer back — at least until Iron Man 2 opens. But you know what? Even Tony Stark is probably no match for a psychopathic tire on a murder spree.

David Guetta Was ‘Moved’ By K’Naan’s ‘Wavin’ Flag’

A video for the inspirational anthem’s remix premiered today. By Akshay Bhansali K’Naan in “Wavin’ Flag” In the past five years, K’Naan has risen in popularity around the world. The Somali-Canadian rapper/singer is fast becoming known for his inspirational, unifying and vivid material. Growing up in Mogadishu amid the still-ongoing Somali civil war was no doubt formative in making K’Naan into the artist he is today. The hip-hop music his father sent him from America was probably similarly influential. So it should come as no surprise that for his third single from the album Troubadour, he chose to tweak his song “Wavin’ Flag.” In the wake of the earthquake in Haiti earlier this year, the song became a charity single featuring 50 other Canadian artists under the group banner Young Artists for Haiti. Looking to create an urban remake, K’Naan chose producers Will.I.Am and French dance-music hitmaker David Guetta to help fine-tune “Wavin’ Flag” into a ditty with a more mainstream feel. In the video, which premiered Thursday (April29), Will.I.Am and Guetta appear before a black backdrop, but mostly, we see K’Naan inspiring people. He climbs a mountain, sings arm-in-arm with children and performs a concert, all set to the chorus, “When I get older, I will be stronger/ They’ll call me freedom/ Just like a wavin’ flag.” Indeed, the message seems clear: One can achieve the unattainable through belief and strong resolve, a recurring theme in the artist’s three-album catalog. Earlier this month, MTV News caught up with Guetta, who was tickled to have gotten the chance to, for once, slow things down. “When I heard it, I thought it was so beautiful,” Guetta said. “I was totally moved. And then I met K’Naan, and he’s a beautiful person. I was really excited. And then I heard Will was working on it. We decided to do a new version of it, and I think it’s great. “It was my first experience with a slower tempo, so I didn’t know I could handle it,” Guetta explained. “The way I make music is always: ‘Is this going to make people dance?’ That’s the only thing I think about. ‘OK, how to make this emotional?’ So, this one is all about being emotional.” “Wavin’ Flag” has been selected as the Coca-Cola’s promotional anthem for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The soccer event will be held in South Africa, and versions of the single have been recorded in English, Spanish and Chinese. Were you inspired by K’Naan’s “Wavin’ Flag”? Let us know in the comments! How To Spot Fake A Louis Vuitton Bag

If diamonds are girls bestfriend, definitely Louis Vuitton luxury bags are women’s bestfriend! Louis Vuitton bags sit on top luxury position. LV bags are o durable.  It is water and fire proof.  They use top of the line materials which makes their products stand out in the market.  Their products are made for the elite and noble market.  These are also handcrafted. But can we spot the fake?  Here are some tips to help you: Tip 1: If the seller has a lot of bags on offer you should steer clear. Vuitton only makes limited numbers of its bags available specifically to avoid them being re-sold. So anyone who has large quantities of LV bags on offer should be considered with a certain degree of suspicion. Take a good look at the official Eluxury website and get to know the genuine articles, knowledge is power as they say. Some so-called LV bags were in fact never produced by Louis Vuitton. Tip 2: Louis Vuitton do not use plastic or bubble wrap to wrap their bags. Tip 3: If the price is ridiculously low then it is very unlikely to be a genuine bag. Louis Vuitton handbags are expensive for a reason, they take a long time to make. Louis Vuitton leather goods are manufactured in Spain, France, or the USA, where craftsmen pay attention to every detail and use only the finest materials. Tip 4: Check the quality of the craftsmanship – LV bags are extremely well made and should look as if they are. Tip 5: Look out for creases, wrinkles, logos that are not symmetrical, seams that are obviously poor quality. Tip 6: The Certificate of Authenticity – there should be one, fake certificates also exist of course, but no certificate is a bad sign. Tip 7: Circular tags made from cheap looking plastic attached to the bag were never made by Louis Vuitton, LV do not attach their tags. When you buy a bag from LV you get two tags and possibly a care booklet. One tag says “Louis Vuitton” and will state the material of the bag – monogram canvas, epi etc. The other tag shows the model number, the French name of the bag and the barcode. Tip 8: LV dustbags just have the LV or Louis Vuitton logo Interiors made of cheap plastic, or cheap suede. Tip 9: The patterns are always lined up correctly (think wallpaper patterns) Louis Vuitton never ever have sales or discounts or wholesale prices. These are some of the signs you can look out for.  It is more difficult to check the bag if you are buying online (of course) The Louis Vuitton website Louis Vuitton state that LV products are only available at Louis Vuitton stores – or from their offical websites. Fergie Is ‘Perfect’ in ‘Gettin’ Over You’ Video, David Guetta Says

‘This is going to be my best video ever’, DJ/producer tells MTV News of new collabo, also featuring Will.I.Am and LMFAO. By Akshay Bhansali, with reporting by Damian Vaca David Guetta Photo: MTV News The French house-music DJ/producer who produced last summer’s Black Eyed Peas hit “I Gotta Feeling” is planning a repeat chart assault. David Guetta just shot the video for his “Gettin’ Over You,” a song he’s convinced will be the summer anthem of 2010. “I have no words. This is going to be my best video, I’m sure,” Guetta told MTV News when we caught up with him at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, fresh off the video shoot. The seemingly endless obsession with “I Gotta Feeling” hasn’t gone unnoticed by Guetta, who may be following a formula for success by reuniting with some of the song’s key players. (The massive hit from the Peas’ album The E.N.D. spent 14 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 last year and remains a club staple.) “Gettin’ Over You” features Will.I.Am, Fergie and LMFAO. It’s only fitting, then, that the new clip includes a nod to the first collaboration that helped make Guetta a crossover star. “The video is the story of what happened to me when I came to produce ‘I Gotta Feeling’ for the Black Eyed Peas,” Guetta said. “It was my first time in that studio called Record Plant. I was so impressed, and we started to work with Will.I.Am and more and more artists were coming to say, ‘Hello,’ and were like, ‘Oh, this music is different.’ And they were staying. Girls were starting to dance on the couch. “So the inspiration for my video is really that. We’re in recording sessions — me, Fergie, LMFAO, [singer] Chris Willis — and then more and more people are partying in the studio. We party in the streets. Partying in the area … partying in the city.” Oddly enough, Guetta’s energetic onstage demeanor is in direct contrast to his comfort level with the acting required for a music video. “I’m so bad. I can only be myself,” he laughed. “I’m such a bad actor, it’s terrible. If you tell me, ‘Do what you usually do,’ it’s kind of OK. So I’m producing that record, that’s what I’m doing in the video.” But the dance-music phenom could only rave about Fergie’s performance. “I look stupid, you know, totally suck,” Guetta said. “Her, it’s the opposite. They say ‘rolling,’ and she knows exactly what she’s doing, like, the angle, the look, the light. I asked her after we shot, ‘Did you have a monitor? Could you see yourself?’ Because it was so perfect.” What do you think of David collaborating with the Peas again? Let us know in the comments below! Related Artists David Guetta Fergie
