Security Guards Chokes Deaf Shoppers – Shoplifting Suspects, Video

Security Guards Chokes Deaf Shoppers – Shoplifting Suspects, Video There are more questions than answers regarding this troubling video that seems to show a security guard choking a suspected shoplifter while his friend tries to intervene – both of whom appear to be deaf. Here is what we know from watching the video, listening to the commentary and reading the post of the youtube user who took the video. Apparently, two deaf shoppers were leaving XXI in Hollywood when the store alarm was triggered but the pair continued walking with their shopping bags (they are reportedly deaf). The video picks it up from there as one man is being choked by a security guard while his friend (clearly with a speech impediment) tries to help, gesticulating franticly that he has receipts. Meanwhile, the security guard is choking the deaf shoplifting suspect so hard he is turning blue. Some people in the crow that have gathered are upset but do nothing to intervene while man video tapes the choking incident. A security guard tries to stop the video taping of the incident to no avail. The suspects are taken back inside XXI Hollywood store. At times store security guards like the ones here in XXI shoplifting video seem to operate with impunity where beyond the limits of what they are legally allowed to do. It is one thing to ask for receipts it is another to tackle someone and choke because they are mere shoplifting suspects. Lets hope someone is looking into this incident and the whole truth comes out. They violated these men's rights by ignoring the Americans with Disabilities Act. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fRv–C_vao&feature=player_embedded# ! added by: ArchDruid

Pras Explains Endorsing Wyclef Presidential Rival

‘The reality is we need a real leader … a transformative leader,’ onetime Fugees bandmate tells MTV News. By Jayson Rodriguez Pras Photo: MTV News Wyclef Jean has now formally announced to fanfare that he’ll run for the presidency of Haiti . But for all of the support coming his way, the musician didn’t manage to receive the endorsement of one of his former Fugees groupmembers. Pras has endorsed rival candidate Michel Martelly, telling MTV News on Friday (August 6) that Martelly is better equipped to revive the ravaged country. Pras stressed his appreciation for Wyclef’s efforts to aid Haiti but said he simply thinks his friend would be in over his head. “Basically, I went down to Haiti yesterday to endorse a friend of mine named Michel Martelly. He’s an ex-musician, very, very popular down in Haiti,” Pras explained. “He used to go by the name “Sweet Micky.” “Listen, I love Wyclef to death, he continued. “We came up together, we grew up together, we basically called each other cousins. But the reality is this, we need a real leader. Not just a regular leader, but a transformative leader. Someone that’s gonna be able to galvanize the Haitians down on the field, the Haitian-Americans, the international community, it’s a collective support — to take this country to the 21st century. And I’m just not convinced Wyclef is the one for that.” Pras was particularly effusive in praising Wyclef for bringing global attention to Haiti in the wake of the country’s debilitating earthquake this past January. “But that does not mean he can become the next president of Haiti,” Pras said. ‘Clef formally declared his run for president during an appearance Thursday night on CNN’s “Larry King Live.” “If I can’t take five years out to serve my country as president,” Wyclef said in the interview, “then everything I’ve been singing about, like equal rights, doesn’t mean anything.” He pushed his political neutrality as an asset; Haiti has long been dominated by corrupt government regimes. Pras said he became aware in July that Wyclef had Haiti’s elections on his mind, though he didn’t think his friend would seriously contemplate running himself. Rather, Pras thought Wycelf would endorse his own uncle, who has served in an ambassador post to Haiti, in Washington D.C., in the past. Pras also revealed he hadn’t spoken directly to Wyclef before he made public his endorsement of Martelly. Representatives for Wyclef had not responded to MTV News’ requests for comment at press time. What do you think of Pras endorsing Wyclef’s rival for the Haitian presidency? Let us know in the comments. Related Artists Pras Wyclef Jean

Most Offensive Valentine’s Day Shirt EVER

One day I had a TERRIBLE IDEA. I sketched this little cartoon. I was immediately reviled and offended by my own work. But then starting at it, it seemed so cute, and yet at the same time hilariously callous and evil. Then one day, I mentioned it to a friend, and they immediately demanded that I make this into a T-Shirt. They now have it and love it. If you have a serious case of anti-social disorder, or something else really wrong upstairs (like both me and my friend), this may be the perfect t-shirt for you. 4 color screen print (white, pink, orange, and black on Sky Blue shirt) shown here on a woman's fitted cut. added by: asherp

Jackson Rathbone Was The Ultimate Prankster, On ‘When I Was 17’

The ‘Eclipse’ star made extra cash spinning as DJ Joyride when he wasn’t pulling pranks. By Jocelyn Vena Jackson Rathbone on “When I Was 17” Photo: MTV News Jackson Rathbone probably doesn’t worry too much about making ends meet these days, what with two summer blockbusters — “Eclipse” and “The Last Airbender” — hitting theaters next week. But the actor didn’t always have deep pockets. “When I was 17, I was always trying to find ways to make money,” he says in a new episode of “When I Was 17,” airing Saturday. “When I was back home for the holidays, especially for the summer, I would DJ weddings, birthday parties, all types of events. I was DJ Joyride. I don’t know why — sounded cool at the time,” he laughed. When Rathbone wasn’t earning dough spinning tunes, he and his pals were busy pulling major pranks at school. “We did a lot of prank wars,” Rathbone remembered. “We were kind of the prank-war gods so to speak,” his friend Ben added. But the prank-war gods had the tables turned on them in one particularly memorable instance. “We came back to our [high school dorm] room and we saw a ransom note in place of our trophy piece, which was a plastic model goose,” Ben explained. “The goose is one of those prized possessions you get and you don’t know why,” Rathbone continued. “You’ve got it, but it’s just something that you like and we discovered that our friend stole our goose.” This audacious bit of thievery sent Rathbone and his crew of prankster pals into full-on battle mode. “To get him back, we asked the girl that he liked to write him a note saying to meet him at the beach at a certain time,” Rathbone confessed. “He goes down to the beach. We all jump out of the bushes, hog-tie him, rip his shirt off, write ‘goose thief’ on his chest and make him walk to the dorm in his boxers, hands tied behind his back for all the world to see what a goose thief gets.” “When I Was 17” — this week featuring Jackson Rathbone, Keri Hilson and Johnny Weir — airs Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV.
