Yes, the man who recently stated that most Muslims support the attacks against Charlie Hebdo has set his sights (no pun intended) on the hotly-debated Clint Eastwood-Bradley Cooper biopic, American Sniper. It was a bold move for Maher, considering the backlash experienced by celebrities who have been critical of the film, or its subject, Chris Kyle. Michael Moore referred to snipers as cowards and received death threats online. Seth Rogen compared Sniper to Inglourious Basterds and was subjected to a barrage of enraged tweets. Of course, Maher has made a career out of being contrary and taking things a step further than even the most ardent leftists are willing to go, and that’s just what he did when sharing his views on Chris Kyle: Bill Maher on American Sniper “He’s a psychopath patriot, and we love him,” Maher said while discussing Kyle.
