Gravity is the latest “isolation” movie that follows one person’s–or in this case two people’s–terrifying battles against harsh, stark, nature. Think Castaway or 127 Hours or any of the Twilight movies (in this case you, the audience member are the one stranded in isolation). The difference with Gravity , starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, is that it takes place in space. Everything’s way more terrifying in space. Check out the first Gravity poster : Bullock and Clooney play Dr. Ryan Stone and Commander Matt Kowalsky, who are on a mission to space. While on a spacewalk, their ship blows up, leaving them stranded, with no communication to Earth. Alfonso Cuarón directs the film, which is set to premiere October 4.

Man, some lucky a** lawyer is about to hit the JACKPOT with this one! Maria Shriver wants to terminate her marriage with cheating hubby Arnold Schwarzenegger. Shriver filed for divorce today setting the stage for what could be one of the costliest celebrity break-ups in history. Shriver cites “irreconcilable differences” as her reason for ending the 25-year marriage, TMZ.com reported. The petition was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court by prominent attorney Laura Wasser, whom Shriver hired in May when Schwarzenegger went public with the news he had fathered a child with a former household staff member. Sources told TMZ the couple does not have a prenuptial agreement, so assets would be divided evenly since California is a community property state. The power couple’s net worth has been assessed at between $200 million and $400 million. This thing is about to be a “make it rain” dance of epic proportions. Shriver, 55, is seeking joint custody of the couple’s two children who are minors, Patrick, 17, and Christopher, 13. She and Schwarzenegger, 63, also have two older daughters, Katherine, 21, and Christina, 19. Shriver has asked for spousal support from the former California governor and requested he pay her attorneys’ fees. And over here in the world of Marvel comic book movie adaptations, we’ve been hit with a one-two punch from the folks behind the new Ghost Rider movie and the new Spider-Man flick, with a casting notice from the latter and from the former, a reassurance that the sequel won’t suck like the first one.
Last night on “The Daily Show,” Jon Stewart mocked the media's obsession with would-be Quran-burning pastor Terry Jones, and showed how Fox News considers reasonable statements by “Ground Zero Mosque” Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf to be veiled threats to further their fear-driven narrative. First addressing Terry “Yosemite” Jones's plan to burn Qurans on 9/11, Stewart pointed out that God both called for and called off the burning, according to Jones. “When God told you to do it originally, he hadn't anticipated the backlash?” Stewart asked of Jones. “God didn't see that one coming?” Stewart likened the media's constant coverage of the crazy pastor to the dog from the movie “Up!” It's like no matter what is going on the world, they will drop everything if they see a squirrel. In this case, the squirrel is an irrational person who thinks burning books is OK. Speaking of irrationality, Stewart moved on to re-discuss the “Ground Zero Mosque” controversy, but particularly Fox News' nonsensical fear of Imam Rauf. Fox demands the Imam answer their question of “Why there?” but when he calmly explains on CNN that moving the center would send a message to Muslim nations that Islam is under attack in the U.S., and that “anger will explode in the Muslim world,” all Fox hears is “explode.” Stewart pointed out that using the threat of violence, which is what Fox News consider Rauf's explanation to be, to “expedite a desired outcome,” is exactly what Fox News does when it pushes for a conservative candidate.
