Premier of Dancing with the Stars

Monday, March 22, eleven new celebrities together with their pro partners performed in the Dancing with the Stars. On the ballroom, they performed the cha cha cha or the Viennese waltz. The couple who took the early lead, gathering 25 points out of 30 points from the judges was Pop star Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough. Evan Lysacek, Olympic champion figure skater, and Anna Trebunskaya earned 23 points. Buzz Aldrin and Ashly Costa got only 14 points. Aiden Turner and Edyta Sliwinska got a score of 15 points. Kate Gosselin, reality TV star, and Tony Dovolani earned not only the score of 16 points but also some unpleasing critiques from the judges. This is just the beginning and the scores given by the judges are only part of the equation. America’s votes are also important because it will be added up to the judges’ score. A Makeover in Dancing with the Stars

When TV audiences tune in to watch the 10th season premier of Dancing with the Stars, they will see a new co-host in action, as well as the contestants. Brooke Burke will be co-hosting along with Tom Bergeron. She is the new face in Dancing with the Stars who has replaced Samantha Harris. A makeover was done in the Dancing during its hiatus as stated by producer Conrad Green to PEOPLE. Instead of hiding the contestants away from the audience during the show, they brought the backstage room to the front of the stage so that they will be with the audience. The so-called “red room” is now enclosed by glass wall and is now inside of the ballroom. Instead of watching on a monitor, there will be a balcony and a railing that would be placed where the cast could stand and watch the live performances. Now, this is where Burke will have her interview with the contestants after their performance and also where they would receive the scores from the judges. Another new that would be featured in this season is the theme “night”. Dances from famous movies or dances to iconic music from films will also be featured. In addition, there will be a night featuring songs by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. This season, the eleven couples will make the show more interesting and a television that people have to watch. Everyone has great talent and great potential. All eleven couples have had only three weeks of training and they will perform on tonight’s premier and later after a week. Scores will be taken from the judges and the fan votes. Tuesday, March 29, the first pair from this season will be eliminated. Performance shows will air on Monday nights, and results will be air on Tuesday nights for the remainder of the season. American Idol Frowns on Lacey Brown

Following Tuesday night’s American Idol performances , and given how average a lot of them were, it isn’t surprising to see Lacey Brown go on last night’s results show. The pastor’s daughter from Texas got no love from the judges or the fans for her cover of “Ruby Tuesday,” landing in the bottom three with Tim Urban and Paige Miles. Urban would’ve been equally deserving of a pink slip, but this isn’t The Bachelor , where they make up rules on the fly. One stays, one goes. Nice knowing you, Lacey. Ryan announced the return of the “Judges Save” option, allowing the esteemed panel to reverse decisions if fans really, really screw up, but it was not used on Brown. Instead, she sang farewell to her attempt at stardom with Brandi Carlile’s “The Story,” an emotional track prominently featured on Grey’s Anatomy a few seasons ago. Lacey Brown bids American Idol farewell. If Brown and her bottom three cohorts underscored anything, it was how dramatic the dropoff is in talent from the top handful to the rest of the pack. Here’s how we see the remaining finalists going forward, grouped into tiers … The Contenders Crystal Bowersox Siobhan Magnus Michael Lynche Casey James Should Hang Around Awhile Didi Benami Lee DeWyze Andrew Garcia Bottom Three Calling Any Day Now Paige Miles Aaron Kelly Katie Stevens Tim Urban

‘American Idol’ Top 10 Women: What They Need To Do

We have some advice for Katelyn Epperly, Didi Benami and the rest of the ladies. By Gil Kaufman “American Idol” top ten females Photo: FOX By many accounts, it was a rough first week for the top 24 on “American Idol” last week. And while the guys had it a bit tougher than the girls when it came to harsh comments from the judges, it’s not like the ladies got off scot-free. From multiple slags about wrong song choices to the usual litany of complaints about young singers acting too old and pitchy performances, Simon, Ellen, Kara and Randy gave the dozen female contenders plenty to think about. The remaining 10 women got a rare one-day reprieve on Tuesday when leading contender Crystal Bowersox fell ill and caused a one-time-only switcheroo , forcing the boys to perform a day earlier than scheduled. At press time, there was no update on Bowersox’s condition. So what do the girls have to do Wednesday night (March 3) to make sure they’re not in the bottom two come Thursday? Lilly Scott Last week’s breakout performer moved near the front of the line with a quirky acoustic-guitar-driven take on the Beatles’ “Fixing a Hole,” which drew praise from the judges. As long as the 20-year-old platinum blonde keeps mixing it up and surprising the panel — but not too much — she should keep skating along. Michelle Delamor The little-known singer took a chance tackling Alicia Keys’ “Fallin’,” throwing in some bluesy runs that made for a solid live debut. Ellen loved it, and Simon said it was solid, if predictable. Delamor needs to explain to America why they should care and stretch outside her comfort zone to keep the dream alive. Crystal Bowersox The early front-runner among the ladies stumbled a bit last week, landing accusations from Simon that her strummy, harmonica-assisted cover of Alanis Morissette’s “Hand in My Pocket” was a bit too similar to the work of countless subway buskers. Then she fell ill on Monday and forced the postponement of ladies night. Will she pull a Megan Joy and rebound from sickness stronger than ever? She can’t bust out an original, but Bowersox might want to consider showing off something other than her folky credentials to remind the judges why they chose her to begin with. Paige Miles Another virtual stranger to viewers did pretty well in her live debut, kicking off the show with a growling take on Free’s classic-rock staple “All Right Now.” Cowell praised her for having the best voice of all the girls but said her song choice was hacky and cheap. The preschool teacher does indeed have a strong voice, and she, too, needs to use the new “personality snapshot” section unveiled on Tuesday night to give us some clue as to why she should get our vote. Maybe she juggles flaming knives or helped raise a baby seal as a child or speaks Esperanto. Mostly, though, she should really focus on picking the right song to prove it this week. Siobhan Magnus Magnus, 19, went a bit dark with her brooding take on Chris Isaak’s hard-to-sing “Wicked Game,” and Cowell lamented that the glassblowing apprentice didn’t live up to her previous fire. Kara liked the oddball song choice, and Ellen said she was so blown away that she forgot she was watching a reality show for a moment. We didn’t, so for Magnus to keep her spot, she should keep driving the oddball lane even harder and focus on showing the judges some hidden commercial appeal. Katie Stevens The high-schooler nearly blew it with her old-fashioned-sounding Michael Bubl

‘American Idol’ In 60 Seconds: Top 24, Trouble In First Elimination Week

From killer covers to Tyler Grady’s angry exit, it’s all in the season premiere of ‘Idol in 60 Seconds.’ By Jim Cantiello Ashley Rodriguez, Didi Benami and Ryan Seacrest on Thursday’s “American Idol” Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images “American Idol” in 60 Seconds has fast become an MTV News institution, but it goes by so fast that it’s not always easy to catch every golden nugget. So, here we present to you a slightly altered script of the weekly bite-size recap of “Idol” high jinks, plus a joke or two that had to be cut for time! In the first live-competition week of the ninth season of “American Idol,” we met our brand new Top 24. While not everybody choked (Siobhan Magnus’ interpretation of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” was wicked cool, Lilly Scott’s Beatles cover made me want to sergeant her pepper and Crystal Bowersox spent half of her debut on a singing competition blowing into a harmonica — quirky, but effective), the general tone of the show’s opening week can be summed up in one word: Disaster. Actually, most of that came courtesy of the men. (Oh, did I say “Men?” I meant “Frightened bunny rabbits.”) [ Jermaine Sellers wails. ] That guy is a church singer ? I hope God has earplugs. Everybody had a confidence fail. Or an over confidence fail. It was fail-fail-fail-fail — and then Andrew Garcia taught us just how terrible Fall Out Boy lyrics are. But the week’s worst performances came from the judges, who were a mess of disjointed, conflicted and non-sensical advice. “Take bigger risks!” “No, don’t take big risks!” “Wait, am I starting, or are you?” But at least Kara got one thing right. [ Kara calls herself a ‘b—-.’ ] On Thursday night’s results show, it was so good to see everybody again. [ Ryan Seacrest: “The bad news is we’ll have to send two guys and two girls home.” ] Is that really bad news, though? See you later, random people we couldn’t pick out of a lineup. And Tyler Grady? Wearing tight pants and posing ain’t “rock star.” Blaming that judges for your downfall? That’s “rock star.” What did you think of this week’s performances and eliminations? Leave us your thoughts in the comments! Get your “Idol” fix on MTV News’ “American Idol” page , where you’ll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions.
