John Michael Higgins on Bad Teacher and the State of Female-Centric Comedies

John Michael Higgins is poised to be all over the pop culture landscape for the next six months. The veteran film and television actor co-stars as the principal in Bad Teacher (out June 24) and appears opposite Fran Drescher on the new TV Land series Happily Divorced , which debuts tonight after Hot in Cleveland . Plus, he’s also got a supporting role in Cameron Crowe’s We Bought a Zoo , due out in theaters at Christmas. In short: get used to merrily shouting, “That guy!” when his face appears on television and movie screens throughout the rest of 2011.

See Sacha Baron Cohen Brandish Starter Pistol on Set of The Dictator

You’ve seen the first official photo of Sacha Baron Cohen as the lead character in his upcoming comedy The Dictator , “a heroic tale about dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed.” And now, photos from the New York set have emerged of the actor waving a starter pistol at his fellow cast members as they film a track scene. Take a look after the jump.

Shermine Shahrivar Beach Photos

Kanye West has upgraded from Miss Albania (pics here) to Miss Europe. That makes complete sense. Albania#39;s per capita GDP is only $7,453. That#39;s pretty pathetic. From the New York Daily News: Angela Martini missed her flight to Cannes on Wednesday night – and it#39;s probably a good thing. Had Miss Universe Albania 2010 actually jetted to the Croisette, she might have caught Kanye West making time with another beauty queen: Miss Europe 2005 Shermine Shahrivar. A source in the Sou

Brendan Fraser Has William Tell In His Sights

Well, you learn something new everyday. Everyone knows about William Tell shooting an apple off his son’s head, but unbeknownst to many Americans (read: me) is that he was also something of a continental Braveheart, fomenting a revolution against the Austrian empire and leading to the creation of Switzerland. And now Brendan Fraser is going to play him! Way to go, William! You’re not a real historical figure until there’s a big budget American movie about you. Anna Paquin is in talks to co-star in the family action film that will be (of course) released in 3D. However, whenever I think of William Tell, I immediately flash to this Far Side cartoon . New Photos Show The First Look At The Avengers Set

The question from yesterday still stands did we talk about before superhero movie speculation? Today we’ve got secret photos taken from the New Mexico set of The Avengers, and fortunately they’re a little more interesting than a grainy puddle of green. It looks like Avenger business is also taking them to India (I suppose?), but zoom as I might, I don’t see any Easter egg inside references for fans (No van Dyne fashion outlets? No Greer Nelson animal safaris? For shame!) Click to enlarge and see if you can puzzle out why the Avengers might be in India. [ Super Hero Hype ]

Chris Rock Tries Broadway To Stay Close To Family

More:

Chris Rock recently stated that “I wanted to do something in New York,” right across the bridge from the New Jersey home he shares with his wife, Malaak, and daughters, Lola, 9, and Zahra, 7. USA Today reports that despite being the family man, the title of the new Broadway play that marks comedian and actor Chris Rock ‘s theatrical debut hardly suggests family entertainment. Yet Rock’s desire to spend more time with his family was a big factor in his decision to take on The Mother —————— With the Hat , which begins previews March 15. “Stand-up is fun, but you have to travel,” says Rock, 46, nibbling on fresh fruit at a restaurant near the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, where Hat opens April 11.
