Dr. Laura Ending Radio Show after N-Word Uproar

Talk radio host Dr. Laura Schlessinger announced Tuesday night that in order to “regain my First Amendment rights” and to no longer have to “live in fear” she is stepping down from the show on which she used the n-word repeatedly in a tirade with a black caller. The 30-year radio veteran made the announcement “not to do radio anymore” on CNN's “Larry King Live” one week after she used the n-word 11 times when a black female caller sought advice on handling racist comments from her white husband's friends and relatives. added by: TimALoftis

Steven Tyler’s Rumored ‘American Idol’ Gig Surprises Joe Perry

Aerosmith guitarist says Tyler’s judging job is a ‘done deal,’ but the rocker didn’t give the band a heads-up. By Mawuse Ziegbe Joe Perry and Steven Tyler Photo: Kevin Kane/WireImage Aerosmith’s Joe Perry said he has been in the dark about bandmate Steven Tyler’s alleged “American Idol” plans and that he only heard the news when rumors of the singer’s new gig hit the Web. “I found out on the Internet, like the rest of the world,” Perry told The Boston Herald. “There was an Aerosmith afterparty at Studio 54 after the [Las] Vegas show — which none of us in the band knew anything about — and he said some stuff there,” Perry said. “I mean, this is no small thing.” Perry also revealed that he’s under the impression that Tyler has already inked a contract with “Idol.” The guitarist said he would have appreciated a heads-up, since the decision has repercussions for the rest of Aerosmith. “I mean, after working with me for 40 years, he couldn’t tell me about this,” Perry said. “Why so secretive? We’re told it’s a done deal. If Steven is committed to a TV show, that kind of affects the rest of us. We’d like to plan our lives, ya know?” Perry’s concerns suggest that Tyler will indeed take a seat at the judges’ table when the 10th season of “Idol” kicks off. Rumors have been swirling about the rocker’s move to the talent competition since Ellen DeGeneres announced her departure from the show after one season. Singer/dancer/actress Jennifer Lopez is another celebrity name that has been thrown around as a possible addition to the show. The fate of the remaining judges — Kara DioGuardi and Randy Jackson, the only remaining judge who has been dishing out feedback since the show debuted in 2002 — still hangs in the balance. “Idol” reps offered a “no comment” when contacted by MTV News regarding reports that DioGuardi had been ousted from the show. Even before DeGeneres’ recent exit, Fox had not confirmed a replacement for straight-talking judge Simon Cowell , who announced in January that he was abdicating his post after the ninth season. However, with the return of executive producer Nigel Lythgoe , the “Idol” judge lineup may firm up soon. Lythgoe has been vocal about his dream critic team and said he would push to get stars such as Elton John and Usher to give pointers on “Idol.” Lythgoe has also said he would welcome back onetime judge Paula Abdul. Abdul, however, has a deal with CBS for her own dance show. Lythgoe said he’s open to bringing Tyler’s wild style to the show. “He has come through that whole rock-and-roll circus,” Lythgoe recently told Variety. “Why wouldn’t you want a legend there? You never know what he’s going to say. That, as a TV producer, you’re interested in.” What do you think of Steven Tyler joining “American Idol”? Sound off in the comments below! Spencer Pratt to Crash The Hills Finale?

Spencer Pratt has been very … well, non-Spencer Pratt lately. Uncharacteristically absent from the spotlight, he hasn’t been seen in public in over a month, or on The Hills , where he and Heidi Montag were cut loose without any explanation from the show, which ends its six-season run tonight. Might he be planning a surprise – and unwelcome – public foray this evening? Implying he may crash The Hills finale party, he Tweeted on Tuesday: “Booking my room @Roosevelt Hotel Hollywood now that I have no place to live I think i should just move in there today (to) stay near the action.” No place to live? We know he looks like a homeless man, but is Spencer Pratt really out on the street? At least he’s comfortable as a mountain man … If Spencer Pratt crashes The Hills’ live post-finale bash, we hope he bursts on stage dressed like this. Fingers crossed. [Photo: PacificCoastNewsOnline.com] Wouldn’t you know it, the Hollywood Roosevelt is the site of tonight’s finale party, for which Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag are not on the guest list. Kristin Cavallari, Brody Jenner and other stars will be on hand, along with the show’s two most famous alumnae, Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port. No Speidi, though, after clashes with Hills creator Adam DiVello on and off set led to an unceremonious, unexplained parting of ways with the show. Heidi’s also moving forward with plans to divorce him , supposedly. Cavallari calls the situation “sad,” and says as far as she knows, no one has spoken to either member of the duo since they last filmed together. “I’ve reached out to Heidi,” says Kristin, who fixed up Speidi. “I can’t get a hold of her because she changed her number. I’d love to talk to her.”

Lauren Conrad to Appear on The Hills Reunion

Lauren Conrad is finally returning to The Hills … right after it ends. One week from tonight, the girl who made the MTV reality show a hit will be on hand for the Live Reunion Show after the now-sagging series mercifully goes off the air. The reunion will immediately follow the series finale of The Hills and the season finale of The City . Whitney Port reported the LC news, as well as her own attendance: “I am so happy to tell you all that I will be attending the reunion, as will Lauren!” Whitney wrote on her official site. “I am so excited to see everyone and catch up.” “I am so excited to see what’s next for them,” the former Hills star and current City leading lady continued. “It’s been so long since we have all been together.” REUNITED : For one night and one night only, next Tuesday . What remains unclear is whether Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt , exiled from the show in recent weeks without notice, will appear between now and July 13. Tonight, the penultimate episode of The Hills airs, followed by The City . The former will likely focus on Kristin and Audrina’s predictably boring romantic drama. Sigh. We can only hope Speidi returns to liven things up one last time.
