Kurt Caselli has died. The racing champion sustained fatal head injuries during a crash at the Baja 1000 on Friday in Mexico. He was just 30 years old. Caselli’s KTM Racing team had been in the lead for much of the 833-mile off-road race and was in second place when he crashed near mile 796. The accident occurred approximately 5 p.m. PST. Previous reports that Kurt’s crash was related to an on-course booby trap or other sabotage have been discredited, though an investigation is underway. Caselli passed away , reports say, during transport to a hospital in Ensenada, about 60 miles south of the U.S. border on the Baja California peninsula. Caselli was a Moto X Endurocross competitor at X Games beginning in 2011, and was one of the most highly decorated athletes in off-road racing. He was named AMA Sportsman of the Year in 2007, and was in Baja fresh off of winning his third straight AMA National Hare & Hound Championship title. The KTM Racing team posted the following statement on Friday night: “[We are] hugely shocked and saddened to hear of the death of Kurt Caselli. A huge loss to his family, team and to our sport. Kurt was a wonderful competitor and an all round top guy.” Tributes have been flooding out across social media overnight, including this one from the World Off-Road Championship Series Facebook page: “It is with a heavy heart and fond memories of one of the greatest racers to ever kick their leg over a motorcycle that we morn the loss of a great one.” “Kurt Caselli raced, lived and breathed off-road and was a role model to many. My tears and prayers are for his family and to all those that will feel the deep loss from our small community.” Caselli was the WORCS champion in 2007, 2010, and 2011. R.I.P.

Jennifer Richardson recently came forward and said she had an affair with the NBA player that stretched out for more than a year – and even included a threesome. Khloe posted a photograph of herself with Lamar to Instagram around midnight Monday, but it is not clear if the pic is new. Khloe and Lamar have not been photographed together for 50 days! The last time they were seen was June 2, at Kim Kardashian’s baby shower. And the days leading up to that were filled with trouble for Khloe and Lamar, as she first kicked him into a separate bedroom and then out of the house. Now, he’s allowed back in the house and Khloe desperately is trying to hide her marital trouble from the world. But she’s facing one big problem: Richardson is speaking out, telling more and more about her affair with Lamar. In her interview with Star magazine, Jennifer revealed that she met Lamar in several cities and had an ongoing sexual relationship with him. Khloe eventually kicked Lamar out of the house, as Radar confirmed, but has let him back in, although they often sleep in separate bedrooms. Desperate for a baby, Khloe, 29, doesn’t want her marriage to end, even though she doesn’t trust Lamar, 33. But the bad news for Khloe and Lamar is Richardson is not fading away, in fact she’s talking more and more about their hookups! Hiding marriage troubles? Keeping up appearances for the camera? “I’m retiring,” Star Wars media emperor George Lucas recently told the NY Times, having toiled through today’s difficult indie film climate to get his ambitious Red Tails into theaters. “I’m moving away from the business, from the company, from all this kind of stuff.” Or, as Lucas producer Rick McCallum put it: “Once this is finished, he’s done everything he’s ever wanted to do. He will have completed his task as a man and a filmmaker .” Say it ain’t so, George! Wait, what’s that? It’s not really the end? Oh, you tease. It turns out Lucas means he’s retiring from making huge popcorn blockbuster films, the last of which (he hopes) will be the Tuskegee Airmen flick Red Tails , directed by Anthony Hemingway. The full NY Times profile is a fascinating peek into Lucas’s self-image and future aspirations once Red Tails opens, or doesn’t. As corny as he sounds when talking about the importance of the film and what it could mean for black film and black filmmakers, he’s fairly upfront with his idealism. He embraces and acknowledges his own “naive” filmmaking style. He admits he made Red Tails “for black teenagers.” He says Star Wars fanboy backlash following his numerous tweaks to the franchise have discouraged him from making more sequels. (Yay?) And perhaps most curiously, Lucas wrestles credit away from Steven Spielberg for making Indiana Jones nuke the fridge. “He’s trying to protect me,” he says of Spielberg, although why those two would fight for that attribution, I have no idea. The cumulative profile is one of a man of many contradictions who prefers, it seems, to see himself as idealistically and naively as he approaches his films. A bazillionaire 99 percenter. The ultimate anti-fanboy fanboy. A white filmmaker making, as he says he’s described Red Tails , “a Tyler Perry movie, only without jokes.” Do African American filmmakers like Spike Lee and Lee Daniels and Tyler Perry even want Lucas to be their champion, to have their names jokingly bandied about as potential Red Tails sequel directors? Probably not; they’re all forging their own paths, navigating the indie film world. It’s intriguing to think that for Lucas, that’s the great unknown that lies ahead as he faces “retirement” from the world he knows — blockbusters, megafranchises, endless marketing and merchandising opportunities — and dives back into the brand of personal filmmaking he started out with in films like THX 1138 . But remember! He also reserves the right to make another Indiana Jones movie, according to the piece. Harry Potter star (or, as Saturday Night Live ‘s Jason Sudeikis dubs him below, “Sex Wizard”) Daniel Radcliffe will step up to host SNL this Saturday, so to prepare for the big night he and Sudeikis shot a promo video teasing the hilarity to come. “Are you doing a character? Like a chimney sweep?” Sudeikis asks upon hearing Radcliffe speak. “Can you do an American accent?” With a resounding “Chill, broseph,” Radcliffe shows that yes, he totes can. Watch the erstwhile Harry Potter speak bro and wax poetic about Mountain Dew after the jump. I’m inclined to be optimistic that SNL first-timer Radcliffe can pull off the gig, probably playing straight man to Sudeikis and Co. like many a guest host from the world of dramatic acting. Will it top Charles Barkley’s ratings grabber from last weekend? Probably not — that is, unless Radcliffe heeds Sudeikis’s words of wisdom and dances like nobody’s watching. By Kara Warner Tom Cruise in “Top Gun” Photo: Paramount Pictures Just about one year ago, Tony Scott sent his “Top Gun” fans into a frenzy over the news that a sequel is not only planned, but Scott will take the directorial reins on the project. There has been little forward movement since then, but now we have word that “X-Men: First Class” writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz have been hired to helm the script. According to Variety, Miller and Stentz are in final negotiations to get to work on the screenplay, with Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison signed on to produce. The trade publication claimed that there are no plot details to reveal yet, but we’re hoping the “First Class” writing duo sticks with the outline Scott shared with us last year. “It’s not even a reinvention, it’s not even a sequel. It’s a re-thinking,” Scott said of his plans for the sequel. “What inspired me is that the world today is great, it’s so different from the world we touched originally. It’s really run by guys sitting in Nevada on computers playing war games.” Scott teased that the film will focus on the new generation of fighter pilots. “It’s a mixture of that, and it’s the end of the generation of fighter pilots. Not in a complete end to the generation, because these guys they go up in F-35s and they carry 10 drones with them. [But] it’s a very different movie,” he said. But the most pressing question on everyone’s minds is: Will Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer reprise their iconic roles? “I’m gonna withhold that information,” Scott told MTV News. “I can’t say anything.
