Lindsay Lohan Dropped From ‘Inferno’

Director says he will replace troubled actress in Linda Lovelace biopic. By Mawuse Ziegbe Lindsay Lohan on set of “Inferno” Photo: TylerShields.com Lindsay Lohan is officially too hot for “Inferno.” The film’s director, Matthew Wilder, told E! News that after months of standing by the troubled starlet, he has decided to drop Lohan from the project. “We are withdrawing our offer from Lindsay Lohan,” he said. “We are currently in negotiations [with another actress] and working out the legalities of bringing her onboard.” The director explained that the inability to insure Lohan played a factor in the decision to continue the production without the embattled actress. “We have stuck by Lindsay very patiently for a long time with a lot of love and support,” Wilder said. “Ultimately, the impossibility of insuring her — and some other issues — have made it impossible for us to go forward.” Lohan’s replacement is expected to be announced on Monday. Although Wilder has publicly supported Lohan through her legal drama and substance abuse issues, and maintained he will strive to accommodate the actress, the director recently hinted that the production may have to ditch the star. “You know we have been through a lot with this project, and although she is still our number one choice — we do have a Plan B if she cannot film ‘Inferno,’ ” Wilder told Radar Online . The director also added that he had been communicating with other actresses who were interested in the role. Questions about whether the starlet could complete the movie have dogged the project throughout Lohan’s eventful year, which has included two prison bids for violating her probation. Filming was set to begin in November but Lohan was ordered to remain in rehab until January . While Wilder has previously admitted his frustration with the actress’ situation, he has also maintained that Lohan’s talent was worth sticking by the star. “I understand people’s exasperation,” he told MTV News in September . “I share it. But there is a tremendous gift underneath all the obvious baggage.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com. Newsweek’s Alter Distorts Gingrich’s Ground Zero Mosque Opposition

You can agree or disagree about former Speak of the House Newt Gingrich’s view on the Ground Zero mosque, but is it fair to vilify him with a false characterization of his views? Newsweek columnist Jonathan Alter had a peculiar take on Gingrich’s point of view during a Sept. 13 appearance on Fox Business Network’s “Imus in the Morning.” He expressed his frustrations with the attacks on Islam, as it pertains to public discourse with not only the Ground Zero mosque, but also the idea of people burning Qurans, which has garnered a fair amount of attention from the left-of-center media . “[I]t’s insane,” Alter said. “And what are we supposed to have, a war with a billion people? So, this is out of control. And, it’s kicked off something pretty ugly.” But one of the lynchpins of his frustration were comments from Gingrich , which Alter took some liberties with his interpretation of the former House Speaker’s sentiments. “And when you have people like Newt Gingrich, I think, my big takeaway from this is that he’s just completely destroyed any — the last shred of legitimacy he had to comment about anything. My favorite line by Gingrich is he said, ‘You know, when Saudi Arabia allows us to build churches and synagogues there, then we’ll put mosques in the United States, and until then, other mosques should close, too.” But Gingrich’s statement about the mosque referred specifically to the Ground Zero mosque, not all mosques in the United States. He elaborated, “If the people behind the Cordoba House were serious about religious toleration, they would be imploring the Saudis, as fellow Muslims, to immediately open up Mecca to all and immediately announce their intention to allow non-Muslim houses of worship in the Kingdom.”

Keri Hilson Debuts New Single, ‘Breaking Point’

Timbaland-produced track is first offering from her sophomore album, No Boys Allowed. By Jayson Rodriguez Keri Hilson Photo: Jason Merritt/Getty Images Keri Hilson debuted her new single, “Breaking Point,” on Atlanta radio Wednesday, the first offering from her forthcoming sophomore album, No Boys Allowed. The perky-but-slow number was produced by Timbaland, who, along with Polow Da Don, will executive-produce Hilson’s new project. On the track, Hilson is feisty and voices the frustration of women who are neglected and taken advantage of by men. “Every woman has a breaking point, y’all,” she sings on the chorus. “Hey, I know you know, some women can be lied to, cheated on and beat on/ Somebody know, hey, every woman has a breaking point, y’all/ Tell me how we put up with that/ You cant forget that/ See, I done did that/ But this time, there’s a limit to my love.” No Boys Allowed is slated for a late-2010 release, and a video for “Breaking Point” is set to be shot next month. Earlier this year, Hilson told MTV News that her travels around the world would influence her next album. “Everywhere I travel, I get music from that region of the world,” she said. “I’ve been to Nigeria, I’ve been to South Africa, three cites in Africa [in all]. I gather music from these regions, and African music is very drum-heavy. It was very inspiring. I’m definitely going to be using some of that inspiration.” In addition to Timbaland and Polow Da Don, Ryan Leslie is expected to produce material for No Boys Allowed. Leslie said he and Hilson have worked on music together, and one song in particular he described in April sounds like it would please Timbaland. “One of my favorite productions while I was out there is a Keri record, but it’s very reminiscent of Aaliyah,” Leslie said. “I remember making the record and her saying, ‘Man, [Timbaland] is gonna love this’ — we hadn’t played it for him yet — and saying, ‘It’s gonna remind him of baby girl.’ ” What do you think about Keri Hilson’s new song? Steven Slater Hires Publicist, Nears End of His 15 Minutes

The craze over Steven Slater might be getting out of hand. New reports indicate that the disgruntled JetBlue flight attendant may have been the one who instigated a confrontation on last week’s flight, while many THG readers have expressed dismay over Slater possibly landing a reality show out of the ordeal. At this point, who is more famous: Barry Manilow or Steven Slater? Now, PR specialist Howard Bragman has taken Slater on as a client. Said the publicist who has represented Isaiah Washington, Chaz Bono and Oksana Grigorieva : “I think that he’s hit something in the zeitgeist, and I think that I understand what he’s hit. So I’m doing the media relations and also acting as manager. “I’m seeing a lot of interest. I think he’s an interesting character, and I don’t think America knows him. I think they’re going to like this guy. He’s very charming and very intelligent. I think there is real potential in him.” Slater did break the law, of course, and is facing seven years in jail. We also understand his frustration, but isn’t part of a flight attendant’s job to deal with rude passengers? Therefore, we must ask again: What should happen to Steven Slater?

Merilee Gerth "Shocked" There Were Other Jesse James Mistresses

Poor Merliee Gerth can’t comprehend that Jesse James, who had at least four other mistresses in addition to wife Sandra Bullock, would dare cheat on her . And you think you know someone … James’ fifth alleged mistress often found him cheating on her with other women. It always sucks to be the other other other other woman, doesn’t it? Merilee Geeth would go into his office on the weekend and Jesse would be “fooling around” with another girl. This apparently left Merilee “shocked.” Note to Merliee Gerth: Imagine how Sandra Bullock feels! Merliee expressed her frustration with Jesse, saying: “Jesse doesn’t know anything about me … he is so selfish that even if I wanted to talk to him about my personal life, he wouldn’t be interested.” Boo hoo, Merliee. Did you forget that YOU are the home-wrecker? At least one of Tiger Woods’ mistresses incomprehensibly said the same thing. You girls are mad you’re not the only mistress? Really? You are sleeping with a married man. Why would he be loyal to you in the least? Talk about delusional. At least Michelle “Bombshell” McGee admits she sold out James for money and claims she didn’t know he was married.

Obama bypassing Senate to appoint key nominees

(L.A.+Times+-+Top+News) Reporting from Washington – The Obama administration moved Saturday to fill 15 economic posts whose nominees are held up in Congress, bypassing the formal Senate confirmation process — a decision that is sure to further anger and embitter Senate Republicans. The move reflected the frustration within the White House about what they see as obstructionist actions by a Republican minority that is intent on blocking the administration's agenda. The Republicans saw the move as confirmation that President Obama had abandoned his pledges of trying to govern in a bipartisan way and further deepened their skepticism over the administration's economic policy. As the White House announced its intention to make the recess appointments, an administration official confirmed that Obama would name Donald M. Berwick, a pediatrician who has pushed hospitals to lower costs and improve care, to head a crucial agency overseeing parts of the new healthcare law. added by: CaptSutter
