Philly Woman Seeks Positive Change For Community And Runs For Magisterial District Judge!

Jacquelyn Carter Runs For Magisterial District Judge In Coatesville, PA Black women rock and one incredible example is a Coatesville, PA resident by the name of Jacquelyn Carter! The Pennsylvania resident is seeking to bring a brighter future to her community by running for Magisterial District Judge (MDJ) for Coatesville Wards 1, 3, 5 & Valley Township. Ms. Carter’s platform emphasizes that the criminal justice system is flawed in its approach to render fair and just decisions resulting in prison overcrowding, a backlog of cases that keeps members of our community in legal limbo, and does not allow you, the people, to understand the court process. The Magistrate hopeful created innovative community programs that have been the catalyst for educational change. The SAFE Program (Suspension Alternative For Education) was an out-of-school suspension program during the zero-tolerance policy era that resulted in a substantial amount of students becoming indefinitely suspended or expelled. The SAFE Program allowed students to remain current with their schoolwork, receive mentoring and tutoring, and breakfast and lunch. Another program that was launched, Our Returning Citizens Ministry (traditionally called Prison Ministry) allows people to visit men and women behind prison walls on a regular basis, serve as their advocates for basic human rights while incarcerated, and demonstrate to the men and women incarcerated that they are not forgotten. Ms. Carter adds that it has never been more important to elect a MDJ who can objectively hear and effectively decide cases, ensure rights to due process of the law, and empower you by explaining the court process. Therefore, if a time arises that you may need to attend a magisterial district court hearing, you can be empowered by knowing your rights. You can learn more about Jacquelyn Carter’s campaign as well as donate to bring impactful and positive change by clicking HERE . We wish Ms. Carter the best in her campaign, and hope she inspires more young African-American women to always strive for more to enrich their communities!

Furious 7: So What Happens to Paul Walker’s Character?

Furious 7 was Paul Walker’s final film, and with the premiere of his last ride, we can finally answer the question fans have wondered for almost 18 months: What happens to his character, Brian O’Conner? Obviously, the mother of all Furious 7 spoilers awaits, so turn back now if you want to see the movie first. We can tell Walker fans they won’t be let down … When Paul Walker tragically died in a car crash in late November 2013 during a break from filming, it wasn’t clear if Furious 7 would even be finished. The producers eventually decided to go ahead and re-write it, but the question of how to end things for Walker’s Brian O’Conner was far from simple. Perhaps Brian, an undercover officer who went on to become a part of this “family” of street racers, would retire, riding off (literally) into the sunset. Plausible, albeit somewhat unlikely knowing Brian. Or perhaps he could die in a heroic way, giving up his life for those he cared about most in the world. The problem with that, of course, is that it would be like watching art imitate life, reliving Walker’s tragic demise in a way that might polarize audiences. So what direction did the movie decide on?! With the aid of body doubles and CGI, Brian cheats death as he always have in Furious 7 , and the ending may have a few grown men hiding tears. Seriously. The reason Furious 7 reviews have been so positive is that for all its over-the-top action, it’s got real heart, and boy, it wears it with pride. Brian retires, and while he doesn’t say as much, the whole crew looks on as he plays with his son and Dom (Vin Diesel) says “things will be different” now. The film then basically acknowledges that Walker has died, a risky move blending fiction with reality, but providing the chance for a moving tribute. After his pensive reflection following the gripping final action sequences, Dom gets up to leave without saying goodbye, only to have Brian chase him down. Paying homage to 2001’s The Fast and the Furious , the duo revs up for a race, and we are treated to a montage of Walker from all the past Fast films. By the time that’s over, it’s suddenly really dusty in theaters as we watch both Brian and Dom, and “brothers” Paul Walker and Vin Diesel say goodbye. Vin Diesel named his daughter after Paul and has been open about how much Walker meant to him. In that respect, this was pretty much perfect. The movie’s final scene shows Dom and Brian racing in the streets from above until they reach a fork in the road, and veer off in opposite directions. As the screen fades to black from this simple, yet profound and emotional parting of ways, the words “For Paul” appear just before the credits roll. For fans of the franchise, it’s pretty awesome. Vin may be reaching a bit when he says Furious 7 deserves an Oscar , but he and the rest of the team can certainly hold their heads high after this. Remembering Paul Walker (1973-2013) 1. Paul Walker: Remembered, Celebrated at Furious 7 Premiere

As the cast of Furious 7 prepares for the movie’s long-awaited premiere this Friday, they are reminded of their lost co-star and “brother,” Paul Walker. Early Furious 7 reviews have been favorable, and the film is expected to gross close to a billion at the box office worldwide. But there remains a void. Tyrese Gibson, a fellow Fast and Furious franchise star, opened up to People about the loss of his co-star. Walker died in a car crash in late 2013. “He was truly an angel,” he said. “We were inspired to pick up the pieces and keep moving because it became ‘Let us do this on his behalf.'” “It’s really hard to do red carpets and have so many people walking up to you screaming … I’m just thinking to myself, ‘It’s not about me, it is so all about Paul .'” Later that day, in an Instagram post, Tyrese’s sentiments expressed sadness that film would premiere without Walker. In a photo of Paul, Gibson captioned, “It’s so hard to celebrate without you.” Cody Walker, Paul’s younger brother, was at the Wednesday evening premiere in Los Angeles. “I’m so happy with it,” Cody said. “I think Paul would be proud.” Cody is no stranger to the Fast and Furious crew, and they have been a source of support for him as his heals from Paul’s death. He stated, “I’ve known some of [the cast] for the last 15 years, but not at this level. I’ve just tripled my family in the last year.” Paul Walker’s daughter, Meadow Walker , was the recipient of her late father’s fortune. She was only 15 when he died. After his death, there was initial issue of custody and guardianship, headed by Paul’s mother, Cheryl. But at Meadow’s request, Cheryl dismissed the petition. Currently, Meadow, 16, lives with her mother, Rebecca Soteros. Gibson was happy to report that Meadow is “really in a great space.” He added: “She’s really focused on her education and just spending a lot of quality time with her friends. That brings her a lot of joy.” It’s only been a year since Walker died. On the anniversary of his death, Meadow posted a heartbreaking Instagram photo of Paul holding her in his lap. The caption simply said, “I love you.” After the trailer for the film aired, she posted another Instagram photo, with Paul lovingly looking at her as she stuck her tongue out at him. At the time, he was in the midst of filming The Fast and the Furious 7. His brothers Cody and Caleb stepped in and doubled as Walker for the film’s completion. Noting the difficultly of doubling for their brother, Gibson said, “It could not have been easy for [Cody and Caleb] … to step in for their brother who we just lost. I have a bunch of new heroes from being a part of this project. It feels like the most beautiful sending off you’ll ever see.” As the cast of the movie has been promoting the film, the love they have shown for their co-star is unprecedented. So much, that Walker’s friend and co-star Vin Diesel named his newborn baby after the fallen star. Remembering Paul Walker (1973-2013) 1.
