Mini Kanye Struts In Unofficial ‘Way Too Cold’ Video

Fan-directed video stars grade schooler rapping lyrics to West song. By Gil Kaufman A scene from Ashley Smith’s “Way Too Cold” video Photo: Ashley Smith Films Sometimes there’s no reason to wait for the real thing. We have no idea if Kanye West is planning on shooting an official video for his Kim-Kardashian-crush note “Way Too Cold” (originally titled “Theraflu”) . In the meantime, director Ashley Smith has jumped into the breach, posting an unofficial clip for the song on her Vimeo page on Thursday that, well, just kills it. The can’t-look-away video stars a ridiculously cute half-pint reportedly named Caleb as Kanye and the kid is a star. As he struts the streets with his leggy blonde companion (holding her hand at first, awwww), mini ‘Ye rips the song’s lyrics, yes, even the four-and five-letter ones in a video that is the viral opposite of one of West’s typically high-concept, arty pieces. His swagger is unmistakable as he moves through Manhattan past some of Yeezy’s favorite luxury New York outlets while his companion shakes it for him. All the while, Caleb keeps it cool behind some shades and a mini leather jacket, aping the lyrics by throwing up the Roc to prove his allegiance. And, then, for reasons known only to Smith, actors wearing Donald Trump, Condoleezza Rice, Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush and Sarah Palin masks pop up, posing menacingly on the street, that is when they’re not grinding on each other. How ridiculous is the kid? At one point he pulls off a flawless split, his hand triumphantly up in the air before breaking into a coughing fit as Theraflu pours out into a measuring cup. The good news is that Smith might have plenty more material to choose from, since DJ Khaled recently told MTV News that he and Kanye have plenty more tracks cooking . “Me and Kanye West went back in the lab and we made another record and got some features on there too,” Khaled said, without revealing too much about the next tune. “I can’t really talk about it, so expect another monstrous earthquake to hit the streets.” Related Artists Kanye West

Rihanna Preps Fancy Footwork For ‘Where Have You Been’ Video

‘I was never going to shoot this video if I couldn’t do choreography,’ Rihanna says in behind-the-scenes video montage. By James Dinh Rihanna Photo: Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images/DCP Rihanna has never been known as a dancer, but she’s ready to step her game up for her upcoming “Where Have You Been” video. In an almost three-minute-long behind-the-scenes montage clip that surfaced on Thursday, the megastar takes her Navy to the dance studio, where she’s seen practicing a routine for the upcoming clip alongside a crew of dancers. Rocking some appropriate rehearsal attire and simple sneaks, Ri turns to the camera at one point to admit that a dance routine was necessary for the hard dance track’s video, saying, “I was never going to shoot this video if I couldn’t do choreography, ’cause it would be pretty pointless. It would be disappointing.” As with the foot skills she performed in clips like “Rude Boy” and old-school joint “If It’s Lovin’ That You Want,” choreographer Hi-Hat helped keep Rihanna’s moves in line with the singer’s comfort and style, while still showing off the most choreography we’ve ever seen her do. As one of the world’s biggest pop stars, the recent Billboard Music Awards nominee also revealed that devoting time to performance skills for videos is rare. “My schedule has always been so busy, it never really allowed for us to spend time rehearsing and making up dance moves,” she said. Just last week, Rihanna took to her Facebook to tease a dazzling black-and-white shot from the clip, where she’s seen exposing her midriff and kneeling before forest-like scenery. No word on when the video will be released, but with a recently announced musical guest gig on “Saturday Night Live,” “Where Have You Been” is likely to be one of the singer’s performance sets on the May 5 show. This will mark her third appearance on the late-night sketch comedy show, which will be hosted by New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning. What do you think of Rihanna’s fancy footwork? Dick Clark’s Heir Apparent: Ryan Seacrest

‘American Idol’ and ‘On Air’ radio host is most likely successor to Clark, who died Wednesday at age 82. By James Montgomery Ryan Seacrest and Dick Clark Photo: Andrew Walker/ Getty Images In 2005, when it was announced that Ryan Seacrest would join Dick Clark as the host of the long-running “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” telecast, most viewed the move as a ceremonial passing of the torch — probably because it was. Sure, a stroke suffered the previous year had left Clark debilitated — he had missed the 2004 New Year’s broadcast, replaced by Regis Philbin — and his role heading into the 2005 NYE show was anything but certain, meaning Seacrest’s live-TV acumen would be heavily relied on. But, really, there were plenty of folks ABC could have chosen to assist in the broadcast, and still, they went with the man who was building a broadcast empire as a radio and television personality, a producer and a pitchman. Turns out, it was the perfect choice, and not just because the ’05 “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” telecast posted a ratings jump of nearly 2 million viewers from the previous broadcast. For years, Seacrest had been seen as the heir apparent to Clark, the iconic personality who had spent the better part of eight decades establishing himself as America’s pre-eminent multimedia powerhouse, until that NYE broadcast, when he gradually began to cede the throne: Seacrest would return the following year, with Clark’s role diminishing, and in 2009, the show was officially re-named “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.” Make no mistake about it: There will never be another Dick Clark. But with Clark’s death Wednesday at the age of 82, Seacrest now stands alone. Granted, his entire career has been influenced in every possible way by Clark, who blazed trails — both in front of the camera and behind the scenes — and whose impact on television and radio is nearly impossible to fathom. With his work on iconic shows like “American Bandstand” and his various syndicated radio programs, Clark brought music into millions of homes, and by being one of the first mainstream hosts to embrace disco, R&B and hip-hop acts — the descendants of which probably make up 75 percent of your Spotify playlist today — he helped shape the tastes of the American public. Through “Bandstand,” he also helped fundamentally change the way music was presented on television, and his on-camera mannerisms belied the fact that live TV was (and is) a high-wire act. The parallels between that show and “American Idol” — on which Seacrest rose to national prominence — are obvious, and one could make the argument that the two men are quite possibly the best live-TV hosts of any generation. But Seacrest also followed in Clark’s footsteps on radio, where he hosts two syndicated programs (“On Air With Ryan Seacrest” and “American Top 40”), both of which continue to influence the nation’s musical tastes. And just as it was in Clark’s day, the debate rages over whether or not that’s a good thing. Clark also served as the longtime host of the “Pyramid” game show and the “TV’s Bloopers & Practical Jokes” series, the latter of which was an early forerunner of reality television, something Seacrest knows a thing or two about, given his role as producer on shows like the massively successful “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” In his role as a producer, Seacrest really seems to have been taking notes from Clark. After all, there were few as formidable as him: For more than 50 years, Clark’s self-titled production company has been one of the most successful in TV history, backing a string of hits like “Bandstand,” “So You Think You Can Dance” and the “American Music Awards.” Of course, it remains to be seen whether Seacrest will have the longevity Clark enjoyed or if his impact on television will be as sizeable. Both of those things seem tall tasks, indeed — there have been few, if any, who have been as influential as Clark, in any number of ways. He was one of a kind, to be certain, and in Seacrest, we have the heir to his throne. Or at least his understudy. Share your thoughts on this story in the comments below! Kristen Stewart A ‘Gung-Ho’ Action Star In ‘Snow White’

‘Huntsman’ director Rupert Sanders also discusses the ‘fiendish’ Charlize Theron for MTV News’ Summer Movie Preview Week. By Kara Warner Kristen Stewart in “Snow White and the Huntsman” Photo: Universal Pictures It’s clear from all we’ve seen from the “Snow White and the Huntsman” trailers, photos and behind-the-scenes sneak peeks that this film is a stepping stone for Kristen Stewart in many ways. When MTV News caught up with the film’s director, Rupert Sanders, recently, he explained how everyone involved in the project stepped up their game for this modern take on a medieval story. “Kristen is a very driven, visceral, intuitive actress. From a director’s point of view, it’s great to get into her headspace,” he explained. “We did a lot of work together on the script and character, and she really helped inform me how that character was feeling, which really helped my process getting the character onscreen. Kristen was doing a lot of her stunt work, she was riding horses, she was jumping from high precipices into freezing cold water, she was fighting dwarves — she’s gung-ho. Sanders said Stewart’s co-star Charlize Theron was equally gung-ho with respect to the lengths she went to take her beauty into a dark and horrible place. “[She] becomes fiendish,” Sanders said. “She was willing to get in tubs of black oil, surrounded by dead ravens, and crawl her way out. For a director, what’s great about these two actors is that they will go beyond what you ask of them, and I think it really shows in the performances they’ve given. They’re both very unlike any performance I’ve seen either of them deliver.” The first-time feature director promised that fans will not be disappointed by what they’ll see onscreen when the film opens June 1. “What I’m most proud of is that it’s not a popcorn movie in that respect. It’s big and it’s epic and there’s lots of battle sequences, but it really hits you,” he said. “There’s not a lot of weeping, but it’s a very intense ride. You’re really at the edge of people’s boundaries. There are new ways of seeing action, which I’m excited about. It’s a very modern take on a medieval film but doesn’t feel like we’re trying to do anything trendy or of the minute. It still feels practical.” It’s Summer Movie Preview Week, and MTV News will be bringing you exclusive interviews, clips and photos for the most anticipated summer movies . Dwight “The D Is For D-Bag” Howard Reportedly Refuses To Play Until His Coach Is Fired

Dwight Howard Refuses To Play For Coach Dwight Howard is coming off like a big jerk. According to his sources, Howard is still upset with Van Gundy confirming Pingalore’s report from earlier this month that Howard went to Magic management asking for Van Gundy to be fired. On Friday, the Magic had their physical therapist Ed Manalo travel with Howard to Los Angeles, where Howard went to have his back diagnosed. Dr. Robert Watkins, of Marina del Rey, California, diagnosed Howard with a herniated disk. After visiting Los Angeles, Pingalore’s sources confirmed that Howard was adamant about joining the team in Cleveland but the Magic asked him to return to Orlando. Howard would eventually travel to Cleveland. However, Howard sat in the hotel for the game Sunday evening and rejoined the team as they traveled back to Orlando. “It was strange since that Howard wanted to go to Cleveland and offer support but never made it to the game,” said one of Pingalore’s sources. Howard would also likely sit out the postseason, according to the source. Remember when Dwight was the happy-go-lucky muscular guy with the Superman cape? Now he’s got baby momma issues and is acting like a total hoe on the court. It was all good a week ago. Source More On Bossip! Channing Tatum Strips Down In ‘Magic Mike’ Teaser

Tatum and his stripper pals, played by Matthew McConaughey and Alex Pettyfer, get into some shirtless antics in a teaser for the June release. By Jocelyn Vena Channing Tatum in “Magic Mike” Photo: Warner Bros Sixteen seconds. That’s all fans are getting teased with in the just-released teaser for the “Magic Mike” trailer; the complete version hits the streets late Wednesday on “Entertainment Tonight.” But it’s a beefy 16 seconds, that’s for sure. It features everything fans of the highly anticipated flick could want: Channing Tatum as a shirtless police officer and quick looks at the also-shirtless acrobatics of the other strippers in the flick, including Matthew McConaughey and Alex Pettyfer. The tease is definitely quick and dirty but certainly highlights the humor in the film. At one point, Tatum jokes, “You don’t want to know what I have to do for 20’s.” Judging by the footage, it involves a lot of topless antics. Another point of interest comes at the end when Channing — once again without a top — asks, “So are you going to come to the show tonight?” For most fans, the answer will probably be a big, loud “YES!” The Steven Soderbergh-directed film opens June 29. In addition to Tatum, Pettyfer and McConaughey, the movie features a bevy of other Hollywood studs, including Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello. When MTV News caught up with McConaughey recently, he dropped a hint about his own stripper character in the film. “Well, I run the hottest male revue in America, if not the globe,” McCanaughey said of Dallas . “And we are going to simulcast around not only the globe, but the universe, and become the hottest male revue in the universe.” The story follows strip-club owner Dallas, as well as veteran male dancer Magic Mike (played by Tatum), who teaches the game to a newbie who goes by the moniker “The Kid” (played by Pettyfer). The movie is based on Tatum’s own experiences as a male dancer. Soderbergh told MTV News, “It’s a fictionalized version of what Channing went through. Channing’s sort of playing a version of himself, and Alex is kind of playing a version of Channing. They’re sort of amalgamations of other people. No one has ever said, ‘But that didn’t happen,’ because it’s not really that. It’s just the world that I think is really fascinating.” Still not convinced that this film has it all and then some? Well, Bomer recently shared that Tatum even gets his groove on to Ginuwine’s “Pony.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Magic Mike.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Latin Night Belongs To William Levy

Latin soap star compared to James Bond after Argentine tango Monday. By Kelley L. Carter Cheryl Burke and William Levy on “Dancing With the Stars” Photo: ABC With Monday as Latin night on ABC’s reality hit show “Dancing With the Stars,” it should have been Latin soap star William Levy’s week, right? It was. As the actor and his pro partner Cheryl Burke took on the Argentine tango, Levy played every bit the part of a Latin lover with dance skills, wearing an unbuttoned tuxedo shirt. The judges thought he hit all the right marks — and with a twisted ankle to boot. Carrie Ann Inaba said the actor looked like a “Latin-dancing James Bond.” 29/30 Here’s how everyone else fared: Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas Tying Levy at the top was opera singer Jenkins, who also danced the Argentine tango. The judges thought she was perfection and gave her one point shy of a perfect score for her efforts. Head judge Len Goodman said, “This, for me, was like a rose: It had beauty … but underneath was sharp.” 29/30 Maria Menounos and Derek Hough The TV journalist salsa’d her way to a great performance. The judges told her their dance was passionate, hot and had just the right amount of spice. The pair’s routine ended with a hot kiss on the lips. “I don’t think you needed the kiss! The salsa is all about the illusion of passion. Don’t go at it right in front of us,” Inaba said. 27/30 Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd The NFL hot shot danced the Argentine tango, and the judges praised him for his control and execution. Judge Bruno Tonioli said he did a “fantastic job.” 27/30 Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower The Disney star pulled off a routine that wasn’t exactly G-rated. But he kept it clean. Goodman told him he moved like “a young guy with his first car.” Inaba joked that he was “sexy in a Disney way.” 26/30 Jaleel White and Kym Johnson The childhood TV star danced the samba and bared a pretty impressive six-pack in the process. The judges were impressed by his moves, with Goodman telling him, “Your bum was going like you were chewing toffee.” 24/30 Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus The soul legend shook her stuff to the samba, and even though the judges were lukewarm on it, they still praised her. Tonioli told her she was magic, while Goodman said her moves were “simple, but effective.” 22/30 Melissa Gilbert and Maks Chmerkovskiy Gilbert did the salsa — a tough feat considering she was injured last week. In her rehearsal segments, she danced around in a neck brace and hard hat. The judges liked her stick-to-itiveness, and Inaba told her it was wonderful to see her gain confidence. Tonioli said she lacked an element of control. “I saw excellent parts and parts that weren’t so good,” Goodman said. 21/30 Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff The pop singer rounded out the bottom. He said in his rehearsal segment that he hoped to continue relying on votes from his fans to keep him in the game. He danced the samba, and the judges weren’t too impressed with his moves. “I don’t know whether to laugh or cry,” Tonioli said before adding, “I actually enjoyed it.” The other judges said it was missing key elements. 19/30 What did you think of this week’s “Dancing With the Stars”? Schoolboy Q Promises Black Hippy Album If ‘The Price Is Right’

‘I want some money if we do a Black Hippy album,’ L.A. rapper says jokingly about recording a group project. By Sowmya Krishnamurthy Schoolboy Q Photo: MTV News Over the past few months, Black Hippy, the Los Angeles-based group featuring Kendrick Lamar , Jay Rock, Ab-Soul and Schoolboy Q, has gained massive momentum as a collective to watch in hip-hop. When rapper Schoolboy Q stopped by “RapFix Live” this week, he explained what it will to take to facilitate a Black Hippy group album. Q recounts that initially music wasn’t his focus, but once he caught the performing bug, the group quickly bonded. “Once I gained the passion for music, we all clicked,” he explains. He’s been generating a name for himself as a solo artist and even sold out his own New York City show this week, and the Habits & Contradictions rapper is more than open to recording a collective Black Hippy album, but only if the price is right. “I want some money if we do Black Hippy,” he said, laughing. “We all here for one goal and that’s to prevail in this music, live comfortably and stay happy.” Earlier this year, Schoolboy Q told MTV News that he was considering a joint project with Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky. (The duo joined forces on the standout single “Hands on the Wheel” and on Rocky’s own mixtape Live.Love.A$AP. ) “We’re definitely talkin’ right now. We may give y’all a project, but it all has to be right,” Q said. “A$AP is the homie, man. We kinda live the same lifestyle. I’m a little more gangsta than him, and he’s a little more swagger than me, but we kinda the same sh–, just different places.” What would you want to hear on a Black Hippy album?
