Lil Wayne’s upcoming The Carter IV album is one of the most hyped up albums of the year, and in an upcoming issue of Rolling Stone, Weezy brings they hype levels up even more. Weezy previewed a song called “Wayne’s World” for the magazine that the Young Money leader believes will change the game. “There’s a lot of rapping on this,” said Weezy. “I want other rappers to hear it and say, ‘I quit. I better start making club songs.’” Rolling Stone describes “Wayne’s World” as “three machine-gunning minutes of adenoidal wordplay topped with a triumphant hook.” Uhhh… okay. The Carter IV is due out on May 16th. An artist scores a major hit that sells millions of records and a short time later is sued by someone either claiming he or she actually wrote the song or worked on it and didn’t get a fair slice of the pie. Cue the lawsuit from the producer Darius Harrison (a.k.a. Deezle), who has filed a court action against Young Money Entertainment and Cash Money Records, claiming that he has not gotten his paper from the sales of Lil Wayne’s smash hit “Lollipop” and the album it was featured on, Tha Carter III. According to TMZ , the $20 million lawsuit claims that Deezle, who says he produced “Whip It,” “Prostitute 2,” “Action,” “Mrs. Officer” and “Let the Beat Build” as well as “Lollipop,” is entitled to his cut of royalties on the reported $70 million the album has grossed on sales of 6 million copies. “Lollipop” hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and won a Grammy for Best Rap Song in 2009. Harrison previously sued Wayne for $2.5 million over what he claimed were unpaid royalties from the sales of “Mrs. Officer.” The liner notes to Carter list Harrison as a co-producer along with Jim Jonsin on “Lollipop” and as the recording engineer on most of the other songs on the disc. A spokesperson for Wayne and Young Money/ Cash Money could not be reached for comment at press time on the lawsuit. In the meantime, Wayne has been working on putting the latest member of his crew into the spotlight: Lil Twist. “That’s where I get my little oomph from, when I bring my whole clique out there, and I want them to be heard,” Wayne told MTV News last week. “I remember when [Bad Boy] had Total, Biggie, Ma$e, Junior Mafia, all of them other people. James scored 43 points, including 23 in a dominant third quarter, and the Heat beat the slumping Atlanta Hawks 106-85 on Friday night. When asked what led to his big game, James said: “Just the road.” “That’s the similarity,” he said. “All on the road. I enjoy being on the road, I enjoy playing against not only the opposing players but the opposing fans. It’s fun.” James’ season high was 51 points at Orlando on Feb. 3. He began the night averaging 27.2 points on the road and 25.0 in Miami. Marvin Williams scored 15 points and Damien Wilkins had 14 for the Hawks, who have lost seven of 10. James then took a long walk past the Atlanta bench, staring at the crowd of 20,024, before adding the free throw for a 73-42 lead. The Hawks’ frustrations grew with their deficit. James hit two free throws with 1:51 remaining in the third quarter to give him 40 of Miami’s 80 points. He complained after he was fouled by Zaza Pachulia late in the period. The officials then huddled and called a flagrant foul on Pachulia. James made both free throws as Hawks coach Larry Drew complained to the officials that they were giving James superstar treatment. ‘I don’t know why anybody would make it personal,’ rapper tells MTV News at South by Southwest. By James Montgomery Wiz Khalifa Photo: MTV News AUSTIN, Texas — Last month, during an appearance on ESPN, Lil Wayne discussed Wiz Khalifa’s massive Pittsburgh Steelers anthem “Black and Yellow” without actually mentioning Wiz himself. Some speculated that Weezy’s slight was intentional, a bit of revenge for Wiz taking shots at Young Money artist Tyga. Khalifa didn’t see it that way , instead describing the omission as “a missed opportunity.” It was a tellingly vague response, so when MTV News caught up with Wiz backstage at the mtvU Woodie Awards , we asked him to clarify his remarks. Was he returning fire at Wayne? “Nah, not really,” Khalifa said. “[I meant] an opportunity lost, but, you know, I feel like people have a chance to speak out and acknowledge younger people or people who are grinding and coming up in the game, and they don’t always take the opportunity. That’s all that was.” In fact, Wiz said that, if anything, he was taking the opportunity to address everyone who has slept on him in recent months. “There’s plenty of people who’ve missed that opportunity, there’s plenty of people who went back and taken that opportunity when they missed it,” he said. “It’s never too late. It wasn’t anything negative; it just is what it is. That’s the type of person I am. I’m a realistic person, so I tend to say realistic things.” And to further drive home the point that he wasn’t singling out Wayne, Khalifa said he’d most definitely want to work with him in the future and that he’s already moved on from the whole incident. “I don’t know why anybody would make it personal, you know?” he laughed.
