Kobe Bryant Will Be Quitting the NBA In 2016 According to a new article from The Hollywood Reporter , Kobe Bryant has confirmed that he’s exiting the NBA next year. At 36 years old, currently not playing due to injury, Kobe he says he’ll play one more season to fulfill his current two-year, $25 million contract — but after that, he’s out. Kobe says dedication to sports has hindered his personal life over the years: Hollywood Reporter: You said in the film that you regretted working so hard because it took you away from your family and other relationships. When did you start feeling that way? Kobe: Probably during my second year [in the NBA]. It takes more time to keep those relationships going. I was just really obsessive about becoming one of the all-time greats. I just loved playing the game so much that everything took a back seat. But I had to make a choice. Once I made that decision, the game became everything to me. Hollywood Reporter: Do you regret that? Kobe: It depends on what day you ask me. Certain days, when things are going really well, I feel like I have everything. But on days where things are not as good, I question that. What do you think? Is it time for him to go?
Yesterday, Us Weekly reported that Khloe Kardashian can’t decide between French Montana and Lamar Odom , and it’s not hard to see why. Both men are C-list talents in their respective fields who have cheated on Khloe on countless occasions. With dreamy options like that, what’s a girl to do? Considering she already gave it the old college try with Lamar, and things ended amidst accusations of Odom smoking crack and engaging in all sorts of other unsavory behavior, you’d think she’d move on with French or better yet, just be single for a while. But that would mean making a smart life decision, and that’s just not the sort of thing that Khloe’s into these days. Yes, Radar Online is reporting that Khloe is hoping to get back together with Lamar. Sure she filed for divorce from Odom back in 2013 (!) but a little thing like legal separation shouldn’t interfere with a perfectly unhealthy marriage, right? “They obviously still love each other much, and when Lamar is sober and well, he is a great husband,” one insider claims. “If Lamar can keep himself together, she is hoping they can work things out.” That’s a mighty big “if,” of course. Astonishingly, Khloe and Lamar never finalized their divorce, in part because Lamar went AWOL when Khloe tried to serve him with papers. So if you’re a married man and you’re worried that your wife will leave you, take a cue from Lamar Odom and just run! Apparently that approach actually works in some cases! Mo’Nique gave a career changing performance in the 2009 movie Precious, as Mary, the abusive mother of the film’s star Gabourey Sidibe. But now she says that she’s lost a number of other big roles because she’s apparently too difficult to work with. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Mo’Nique says that she was offered roles by the producers of Empire AND director Lee Daniels, I was offered the role in The Butler that Oprah Winfrey played. I was also approached by Empire to be on Empire. And I was also offered the role as Richard Pryor’s grandmother in [Daniels’ upcoming Pryor biopic]. Each of those things that he offered me was taken off the table. (Laughs.) They all just went away. But that’s just part of the business, you know? I can’t be upset at anybody, ’cause life is too good. It’s just what it is. Mo’Nique is vague about exactly what it is she does that made the roles dry up. She quotes a conversation between her and Lee Daniels, I got a phone call from Lee Daniels maybe six or seven months ago. And he said to me, “Mo’Nique, you’ve been blackballed.” And I said, “I’ve been blackballed? Why have I been blackballed?” And he said, “Because you didn’t play the game.” And I said, “Well, what game is that?” And he gave me no response. What “game” they’re referring to? Us mere mortals may never know, but apparently Mo’Nique is too cool to play it. She does refer to being considered “difficult” on set, and defends herself and her husband actor/producer Sidney Hicks, Whoever those people are who say, “Mo’Nique is difficult,” those people are either heartless, ruthless or treat people like they’re worthless. And that’s unacceptable. They’re set to say, “Mo’Nique is tactless, she’s tacky.” That’s why I have my beautiful husband, because he’s so full of tact, ’cause I’m a girl from Baltimore. I come from a blue-collar town — and being from that place, you learn not to let anybody take advantage of you. You don’t let people mistreat you. You stand up for what’s right. There’s been rumors about Hicks wandering eye in the past, but Mo’Nique implies that their relationship is now as strong as ever. Her relationship with Hollywood is a little more tenuous, however. as she’s trying to get a Hattie McDaniel biopic off the ground, but is apparently finding some friction. We’ll wish her luck with that, and assume it has nothing to do with her being “difficult”. 9 Unforgettable Quotes from the 2014 Oscars Julia, hashtag suck it. Kanye West Blames “Voices In His Head” For Grammy Tantrum In an interview with Ryan Seacrest on Feb. 11, Kanye blamed “the voices in his head” for cheering him on and pushing him to run up onto the stage during Beck’s Album of the Year acceptance speech. But he insisted that he in no way meant to diminish Beck’s artistry or his music achievement. “Beck is one of the nicest guys and one of the most respected musicians in the game. So there’s nothing that I would want to do as a fellow musician to disrespect him in any way,” he said. But he also insinuated that he kind of did Beck a favor…in his own Yeezy way — and Taylor Swift actually agreed. “The weird thing is, I don’t feel like I have the right to take away from people’s moments. But the reality of it is — and case in point by who came up to me right afterwards — it’s like a chiropractor. You just get a little crook out that’s been there — just a little jolt of truth. Right? And everyone feels better AFTER the fact. Or everyone’s WAY more famous after the fact. Everyone sells WAY more albums after the fact. And then Kanye just goes on being an a**hole to everyone. But Taylor Swift came up to me right afterwards — literally right afterwards and tells me that I should have went on stage! So this is the irony of my life.” Hmmm…well when he’s right he’s right — at least as it pertains to Taylor. But Kanye should probably just let this topic die over the weekend. YouTube
Kanye West has an easy explanation for why he rushed the stage at the Grammy Awards Sunday night, nearly interrupting Beck’s Album of the Year acceptance speech before heading back to his seat. Because he’s crazy pants! “Right when that happened, everybody was looking at me, and then people started screaming, ‘Kanye! Kanye! Go do it!'” Kanye told Ryan Seacrest on the radio this morning. “Okay, that didn’t really happen, these were voices in my head. So the voices in my head told me to go up, and then I just walked up, like, halfway up the stage.” West laughed after letting Beck finish, but he was dead serious an hour or so later when slamming the Grammys for giving Beck an award in the first place. He felt as if Beyonce should have won Album of the Year. But he sounded a different tune upon speaking to Seacrest today. At least to some degree. “Beck is one of the nicest guys and one of the most respected musicians in the game. So there’s nothing that I would want to do as a fellow musician to disrespect him in any way,” the rapper said. Mr. Kim Kardashian even feels bad about saying the Grammys should have respected artistry by honoring Beyonce. “I think it came off the wrong way, and that was a mis-wording on my part, because obviously Beck is one of the most respected artists and respects artistry.” So why did Kanye go off in such a manner after the show? Why have most people sided with Shirley Manson in telling Kanye to grow up ? “Well, you know what happened?” he explained to Seacrest. “It’s because I sat there and I kind of let that [smolder] and I was asked my opinion and I was given a platform. “And when given a platform, it’s very hard, as we know – and I’m going to talk in third person like I’m a crazy person – but it’s very hard for Kanye West to not be very true and vocal to what he feels.” Man. President Obama Lied About Same Sex Marriage Stance To Win Voters Turns out President Barack Obama has always been more progressive in his views on gay marriage than he initially let on. That is, if you believe the report of one of his former top aides. As David Axelrod writes in his new book, “Believer: My Forty Years in Poltics,” released Tuesday, Obama had supported gay marriage for years before he considered running for the presidency. However, he had to turn down his support to garner more support from the Black church — known to be staunchly against homosexual couples marrying in the same fashion as traditional couples. As Axelrod wrote in his book (via CNN ): “Gay marriage was a particularly nagging issue. For as long as we had been working together, Obama had felt a tug between his personal views and the politics of gay marriage. Opposition to gay marriage was particularly strong in the black church, and as he ran for higher office, he grudgingly accepted the counsel of more pragmatic folks like me, and modified his position to support civil unions rather than marriage, which he would term a ‘sacred union.’” “Obama started saying in 2010 that his views were evolving on the issue and in May 2012 Obama announced his support for same-sex marriage, citing ‘the evolution that I went through.’” Being that he was going against his true beliefs on the matter, Obama often had problems answering press questions on the manner correctly. According to Axelrod: “Obama never felt comfortable with his compromise and, no doubt, compromised position. He routinely stumbled over the question when it came up in debates or interviews. ‘I’m just not very good at bulls—ting,’ he said with a sigh after one such awkward exchange.” Hey…gotta play the game sometimes. Does this change your opinion on Barry?
