Rosie Huntington-Whitely Posing for MUSE of the Day

Rosie Huntington-Whitely is one of the hottest models turned low level actor in the game and not just because she bangs bald dudes who are millionaires and ripped…or because she reminded Megan Fox just how insignificant she is, you know just how replaceable she is, like a scab working the factory that is on Strike…but because she has been naked in photoshoots always…and despite not being naked in this photoshoot…she’s still fucking amazing and I may or may not be in love, and by in love I mean touching myself while staring at her vagina definition. I am romantic like that.

For Your Information: Al Sharpton Says Supreme Court Striking Down Voting Rights Act “Cancels Part Of Martin Luther King’s Dream”

It might sound dramatic, but Rev. Al is speaking on the real. Via HuffingtonPost MSNBC was the first cable news network to turn to the news of the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Voting Rights Act on Tuesday. Both MSNBC and NBC simultaneously aired legal correspondent Pete Williams’ take on the case. Williams said that the Court had struck down a “key part” of the Act by ruling that one of its sections was unconstitutional. “It’s a huge defeat for the civil rights community on the most important civil rights law ever passed,” he said. That view was echoed across other networks. ABC’s Terry Moran, for instance, said that “right now, there is no Voting Rights Act operative in the United States.” Speaking on MSNBC, Al Sharpton called the news “devastating.” Later, he said the Court had “revoked” and “canceled” part of Martin Luther King’s “dream.” For those that are unaware of what the Voting Rights Act is, take a few minutes to soak up the game. Via HuffingtonPost The Supreme Court struck down Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act on Tuesday, the provision of the landmark civil rights law that designates which parts of the country must have changes to their voting laws cleared by the federal government or in federal court. The 5-4 ruling, authored by Chief Justice John Roberts and joined by Justices Antonin Scalia, Anthony Kennedy, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, ruled in Shelby County v. Holder that “things have changed dramatically” in the South in the nearly 50 years since the Voting Rights Act was signed in 1965. The court’s opinion said it did not strike down the act of Congress “lightly,” and said it “took care to avoid ruling on the constitutionality of the Voting Rights Act” in a separate case back in 2009. “Congress could have updated the coverage formula at that time, but did not do so. Its failure to act leaves us today with no choice but to declare [Section 4] unconstitutional. The formula in that section can no longer be used as a basis for subjecting jurisdictions to preclearance.” The Voting Rights Act has recently been used to block a voter ID law in Texas and delay the implementation of another in South Carolina. Both states are no longer subject to the preclearance requirement because of the court’s ruling on Tuesday. “Our country has changed, and while any racial discrimination in voting is too much, Congress must ensure that the legislation it passes to remedy that problem speaks to current conditions,” Roberts wrote. “There is no doubt that these improvements are in large part because of the Voting Rights Act,” he wrote. “The Act has proved immensely successful at redressing racial discrimination and integrating the voting process.” Clearly, not everyone agrees… Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg issued a wide-ranging dissent on behalf of herself and Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan, justifying the continued vitality of the Voting Rights Act’s preclearance provision. “The sad irony of today’s decision lies in its utter failure to grasp why the VRA has proven effective,” Ginsburg wrote. “The Court appears to believe that the VRA’s success in eliminating the specific devices extant in 1965 means that preclearance is no longer needed.” The court did not rule on Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act, the preclearance requirement itself, which requires those affected states to have changes to their voting laws cleared by the Justice Department or a federal court in Washington, D.C., before they go into effect. Rather, the court ruled that the current formula that determines which states are covered by Section 5 is unconstitutional, effectively eliminating Section 5 enforcement, at least for the time being. “In the Court’s view, the very success of §5 of the Voting Rights Act demands its dormancy,” Ginsburg wrote. She said in her bench statement that in renewing Section 5 in 2006, Congress “found that 40 years has not been a sufficient amount of time to eliminate the vestiges of discrimination following nearly 100 years of disregard for the 15th Amendment.” In summary, this means that changes in states’ voting laws no longer need review on the federal level. Which also means that if a state were to decide to make things harder for blacks and people of color to vote then there would no system in place to counter balance any foolery that might be afoot. We’re sure all the political talkin’ heads will be chirping about this issue all night. We suggest that you educate yourself on these laws and teach others how it will affect them. Summer Solstice 2013: It’s Gonna Be a Long Day

The summer solstice is here once again, marking this the longest 24-hour daylight period of the year and the start of astronomical summer in the U.S. At 1:04 a.m. EDT, the sun was straight overhead along the Tropic of Cancer, while the North Pole reached its maximum annual tilt toward the sun. As our amazing planet rotates on its axis, areas within the Arctic Circle see the sun circle through the sky for 24 hours. But that’s only a select few. Still, most places in the U.S. see the sun for 14-16 hours on the summer solstice , depending on latitude, with an elongated dawn and dusk as well. What makes this day so interesting, or significant in astronomical terms? A lot of things, actually. Here are some Summer Solstice 2013 fun facts: 1. North of the Tropic of Cancer, the sun takes its longest and highest path through the sky. The higher your latitude, the longer your day will be. This also means the sun will appear lower in the sky. In more northern locations, the sun is up longer, but shines from a lower angle at mid-day. 2. The sun rises and sets at its northernmost points on the horizon, relative to due east and due west, respectively, that you will see at any point. This is true even in the Southern Hemisphere, where the script is flipped – the June solstice is the shortest day of the year, and December’s the longest. 3. The farther one goes from the equator, the closer sunrise and sunset appear to due north on a compass, practically overlapping at the Arctic Circle. 4. The summer solstice has one of the earliest sunrises of the year (but not necessarily the earliest). Your earliest sunrise was likely a day or two ago. Even though the June solstice marks the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere overall, the earliest sunrise takes place a little before. The cause of this barely-noticeable misalignment is a discrepancy between our clocks and the apparent motion of the sun with respect to the horizon. 5. In addition to the day itself being as long as it’ll get, the twilight in the Northern Hemisphere is longer on the solstice than at other time of year. The fact that the summer solstice features the shortest night of the year also means that the sun doesn’t drop as far below the horizon at night. Therefore, the sun’s path tends to curve slowly below the horizon instead of plummeting, resulting in longer periods of twilight in morning and at night. While the longer period of twilight is less discernible at lower latitudes, northern cities experience noticeably longer dawn and dusk on the solstice. So there you go. Enjoy it!

Waka Flocka Flame to Produce Amanda Bynes Album … Really

Who needs Wyclef. Amanda Bynes will sign a record deal with rapper Waka Flocka Flame for her upcoming, debut hip hop album. Yes, this is a real thing. Waka, who’s in charge of Brick Squad Monopoly records, says no deal has been signed yet, but already has people penning Amanda’s songs. While this sounds as ridiculous as the chosen Kim Kardashian baby name , Waka insists that it’s gonna happen – and gonna be a big, big deal. Waka says he and Amanda FaceTime at least once a week and text every day about her rap career and “keeping her head up from the haters.” The album will be called Shots , he says, and “It’s going to be crazy hot.” Like Drake GQ cover hot? Only time will tell, THGers. But stay tuned. So far, there’s no projected release date, but it won’t be too long. Waka Flocka Flame says that despite Amanda Bynes’ erratic behavior, “She has it all together to me. She is cool as hell and ready for the rap world .” “I think that she is going to kill the game.” She is a survivor and a hero , after all.
