As we drive closer to our Quarry, the elusive North American Bigfoot, TheFeed has been re-thinking our original strategy of annihilation. Instead, we see the discovery of the Yeti as an opportunity to create a new gaming demographic. With that in mind, please enjoy our Talkabout: Games for Yeti.

Not A Joke: Duke Nukem Forever Was Going To Be Finished On April 1

In perhaps the ultimate stroke of ironic genius, Duke Nukem Forever was supposed to have finished development by April 1, 2010, according to former 2K Games producer Jason Bergman. Bergman revealed the bit of trivia over Twitter . He’s currently a senior producer at Bethesda Softworks, but claims 3D Realms and Take-Two Interactive (the parent company of 2K Games) were planning to announce Duke Nukem Forever had gone gold (read: was finished) on April 1. “MOMENT OF SILENCE PLEASE: by the 3DR/TTWO [3D Realms / Take-Two Interactive] development schedule, April 1st, 2010 was supposed to be the day Duke Nukem Forever went gold,” said Bergman. “Totally intentional. It was going to be hilarious.” Duke Nukem Forever has been an industry joke for years. No one thought it’d be released. “I wholeheartedly believe that had things gone differently, they would have made that date,” he said. 3D Realms and Take-Two are now embroiled in a heated legal battle over the fate of Duke Nukem Forever and future Duke Nukem releases. Will Duke ever return? It remains to be seen. Source: Jason Bergman Have something to share? Sitting on a news tip? E-mail me . You can also follow me on Twitter .

No Female Agents In Crackdown 2

I play every video game as a female character if given the option. I don’t know why. I just do. Sadly, I won’t have that option when Crackdown 2 comes out. The game will not offer girl-cops. “In Crackdown , the amount of memory that it was going to take for it to do all the actual animation, the texture sets and the models for the females – we would’ve needed to massively reduce other sections of the game,” creative director Billy Thomson told 1UP at PAX East last week. “So rather than do two separate models, we cut it back and gave the player as much customization as we could on the male character and that allowed us to use that extra memory to do other things in the game.” “It’s actually the same reason again,” Thomsen said. “When it came to Crackdown 2, you’ve got four players (in cooperative play), and that means every single player can be a different character and that has to be in memory all the time. We had to save memory all over the place because we’ve got so much more content in this game than we had in the first game. We don’t stream.” “It’d be great (to have female characters), but what we were going to lose didn’t seem like it’d be worth it. If we had more memory, it’d be okay.” Also: No Yeti agents. Probably because they don’t have the real-life models. Once we catch Bigfoot, I’m sure there will be Yetis options in all games. Source: 1UP

Cliff Bleszinski’s Next Game Debuting On Jimmy Fallon’s Show Next Thursday

Maybe the rumors about Gears of War 3 being revealed in April weren’t completely off the mark. Late night talk show host Jimmy Fallon announced over Twitter the next game from Epic Games designer Cliff Bleszinski will be revealed on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon next Thursday. “Game designer Cliff Bleszinski (@therealcliffyb) debuts his new game on Late Night next Thur,” reads the Twitter update from Fallon. “Set your TiVos! And your Xboxes.” Given how close we are to a slew of April Fools day-related video game jokes, I’ve reached out to Bleszinki to confirm Fallon isn’t yanking our chain, but all signs right now suggest it’s actually true. Epic Games is collaborating with People Can Fly on an unnamed shooter for Electronic Arts releasing in early 2011 and it’s widely rumored the studio is working on Gears of War 3,

Nintendo And Google Partner For Internet Search-Based Wii Game

In “Unlikely Duos” news, Nintendo has announced that it is partnering with search engine giant Google to develop games, the first of which will appear on the Wii in late April. According to Silicon Era , the game is called And Kensaku , and includes a number of mini-games that incorporate Google search results into them. For instance, one of the games is similar to Family Feud in that players guess which search term will return the most results. Another game tasks players with preventing a bomb from exploding by choosing terms will high results. The game is scheduled for release in Japan April 29. While you wait for this bizarre title to land stateside, you can marvel at the teaser site for the new game, but be warned: the theme song is pretty damn awesome. Microsoft Picks Up Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet For Xbox Live Arcade

Microsoft is on a roll lately. The company recently picked up one of my favorites from the Independent Games Festival, Limbo , and has followed that up with another promising indie: Michel Gagne and Fuelcell Games’ amazingly bizarre looking Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet . Fuelcell Games was apparently in talks with several companies and distribution options for Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet , but the studio decided Xbox Live Arcade was the best path for them. “This is one of the most thrilling projects of my career,” said Gagne in a press release posted on their official web site . “I love working on ITSP [ Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet ] with Joe and his team. It amazes me to see how they’re able to expand on my concepts and animations and create such a memorable interactive experience. Simply put, this game is going to rock!” There are no details on when Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet might arrive on the service (please be 2010!), but click below to check out a trailer. You’ll be just as excited as I am by the time it finishes.
