For our musical recap of the ‘Blame It on the Alcohol’ episode, we got really into the spirit of things. By Jim Cantiello Dot-Marie Jones and Matthew Morrison on “Glee” Tuesday night Photo: FOX This week’s “Glee” seems to have inspired a one-man party here in the MTV Newsroom. After Rachel’s wild party, our own Jim Cantiello seems to have hit the sauce and, well, to quote Jamie Foxx , if you can’t follow along with this song, blame it on the alcohol. Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ Teaches Fans To ‘Be Proud’

‘Everything that she’s about is in that song,’ one fan says of the single. By Jocelyn Vena, with additional reporting by Vaughn Schoonmaker Lady Gaga Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Fans have been donning their best Lady Gaga costumes for the first three stops on the latest leg of her Monster Ball Tour , and MTV News has been there all the way. Gaga’s dedicated Little Monsters have been turning out in droves to see their Mother Monster belt out her hits, including her latest smash, the anthemic disco number “Born This Way.” Fans told MTV News that the song’s feel-good message has resonated with them. “I think it’s fantastic that she decided to put that song out first before any other more noteworthy songs she might have,” Juliana explained. “Because it meant something to her.” Lisa further explained that “it means no matter what you are, who you are, who you want to be, you just can’t help it, because you were born this way.” Meghan thinks “Born This Way” is a great track to pump yourself up with when you’re feeling low. “It means that no one should really be able to tell you who you can can’t be, because obviously you can’t change how you are,” she said. “And you should just express that.” Kristen added: “Nobody should discriminate you for anything. Just be who you are, be proud and that’s it.” Mon Cheri boiled down what the song means to her: “Do what you want to do! I mean, keep it real, keep it safe and keep it legal, but you got to do you, hon.” Not only does the song have a great message, but as Alicia pointed out, it also is awesome to dance to. “It’s just perfect. … Everything that she’s about is in that song,” she said. “And it has an amazing, catchy beat, as usual.” Marie said the tune sums up what Lady Gaga is all about: “It’s everything she says in interviews all wrapped up into a song.” What do you think of “Born This Way”? Lady Gaga’s Fans Call Her A ‘Source Of Inspiration’

Little monsters gush about pop star outside Madison Square Garden. By MTV News Staff Lady Gaga performs at Madison Square Garden on Monday Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage On Tuesday night, Lady Gaga’s little monsters filed into Madison Square Garden for her second of two nights at the storied New York venue. Her fans talked to MTV News about the impact Mother Monster has had on their lives, and many said she gives them to have the courage to be who they truly are. “I think that Lady Gaga, for me, has given me a new source of inspiration. And she’s so creative … you have to have some sort of reaction to that,” Frank said outside MSG. “And, for me, it’s a positive one.” Donning an outrageous outfit, little monster Ricky joked that Gaga has recently done two things for him: “She made us broke, and she reminds us to be ourselves.” Kevin explained that in a world as vapid as pop can be, Gaga serves as a reminder that true art can be created. “As a music fan, I think it’s fantastic that we finally have someone else now to be like, all about a great message and great music,” he said. “She writes her own music, which you don’t get anymore.” “Lady Gaga’s fantastic,” Michael chimed in. “Again, as an artist, she’s really proven that you can be who you want to be and do what you wanna do and really succeed with it.” Gaga’s connection to her art is what seems to really stick with some fans. “I think Lady Gaga has affected everyone personally,” Garrett explained, “because I think she’s shown the whole artistry of it and making pop culture and art one and one again.” In between all the chatter about her devotion to her music and her craft, one fan noted that Lady Gaga just makes it fine to wear wacky wigs. “She totally made me buy this yellow wig,” Gabriella said. “Without her, I never would have bought it. I’m not even lying.” Has Lady Gaga affected your life? Tell us how in the comments section below! Lady Gaga Salutes Town That Made Her ‘Brave’ At MSG

Gaga shouts out Liza Minnelli, Marisa Tomei and a gay unicorn in the second of two hometown shows. By Vaughn Schoonmaker Lady Gaga performs at Madison Square Garden on Sunday Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage NEW YORK — “Tonight, in the town where the gays birthed me, you can be free!” Lady Gaga announced at her Monster Ball show Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden. On this second night in her hometown, Lady Gaga was being filmed by HBO for her concert special that will air in early May. And though it wasn’t her first time playing MSG, she still felt the significance of headlining the venue. “I used to live 20 blocks from here, so I saw all those names go up on the marquis, and I always wanted to see my name up in those lights. “You made me brave, little monsters,” she informed her squealing fans of all ages, “and New York made me brave.” Liza Minnelli and Marisa Tomei were both in the audience, and Gaga asked for her monsters to cheer on the two women, who she said greatly influenced her. “I don’t lip-synch,” Gaga reminded the audience who was already quite aware of that impressive fact, considering all of the heavy dancing mixed with extended high notes. “I’m not going to waste your time watching some bitch lip-synch her way to an HBO special, especially not with Liza watching.” Gaga recently said in an interview that she would want Marisa Tomei, above anyone else, to play her in a movie. While performing all of her hits from The Fame and The Fame Monster, Gaga took plenty of time to speak to the crowd directly, and her witty banter had the room laughing every moment they weren’t cheering their lungs out. Someone in the audience held up a bright purple unicorn stuffed animal, and Gaga caught sight of it when flashing her disco stick flashlight around the crowd. “That is the most fabulous gay unicorn I have ever seen,” she remarked, as straight-faced as ever. “The only thing better than a unicorn is a gay unicorn.” The evening flowed seamlessly from the moment Gaga took the stage with her dark pop tune, “Dance in the Dark,” disguising her dozen or so costume changes with dazzling art videos. The videos often depicted Gaga in a pose or in extreme slow motion, creating the sense of a moving portrait, surrounded by driving club dance beats. Some of the images included tears of blood, neon-green vomit, gothic clothing and bondage attire. The show itself could be an installment at a high-end gallery. Gaga’s incessant devotion to LGBT rights was in full effect during her two hours on stage. She called a fan in the audience, Jimmy DiPasquale, who had made a generous donation to her LGBT youth fund, to thank him personally. At the end of “Alejandro,” while the beat continued to thump, two of her male backup dancers took the stage and made out passionately as the curtain came down. As Gaga drove the night toward her two encores of “Bad Romance” and new single “Born This Way,” she looked on the verge of tears and announced, “This is the last of five sold-out shows here, but I hope this song and this record bring us back here next year.” Related Photos Lady Gaga’s Madison Square Garden Performance Related Artists Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga Tweets Lyric To Next Single, ‘Judas’

Second Born This Way single is a ‘very, very dark song,’ Gaga says. By Kyle Anderson Lady Gaga Photo: Kristian Dowling/ Getty Images The title track (and first single) from Lady Gaga’s upcoming album Born This Way is still laying waste to sales records, but the singer is already contemplating the album’s second showpiece. On Monday, just before she took the stage at New York’s Madison Square Garden , where she was taping an HBO concert special, Gaga tweeted a lyric from “Judas,” which she already confirmed will be the second single from Born This Way. “I’m just a Holy Fool, oh baby he’s so cruel, but I’m still in love with Judas, baby,” Gaga wrote on Twitter . During a conversation with Carson Daly on his radio show last week, Gaga described the song as a much darker entry than “Born This Way.” “It’s about always falling in love with the wrong man over and over again,” she explained to Daly. ” ‘Judas’ is a very, very dark song. It’s rad.” Rolling Stone recently got to hear six tracks from Born This Way , including “Judas.” ” ‘Judas’ is a classic Lady Gaga pop banger with three huge hooks, a thumping house music breakdown and a vocal part that borrows a bit of Rihanna’s distinctive cadence,” wrote Rolling Stone ‘s Matthew Perpetua . Gaga just kicked off the latest leg of the Monster Ball Tour, which saw her open in Atlantic City before tearing into the first of two Madison Square Garden shows (the second, which will also be taped for the HBO special, is Tuesday night). There is no release date set for “Judas” yet, but Born This Way is scheduled to be dropped on May 23 and the video for “Born This Way” should be appearing soon — at least according to another Gaga tweet. “Just finished editing Born This Way video!” she wrote shortly after tweeting the “Judas” lyric. “Announcement Soon!” Related Photos Lady Gaga’s Madison Square Garden Performance Related Artists Lady Gaga

Scarlett Johansson, Russell Brand Will Present Oscars

Sandra Bullock, Jeff Bridges and Oprah Winfrey also will hand out Academy Awards on Sunday. By Aly Semigran Scarlett Johansson Photo: Frazer Harrison/Getty Images With the countdown to the 83rd annual Academy Awards in its final phase (there’s just five days left until the big night), there’s still news coming out about the ceremony: It was announced Tuesday morning (February 22) that actress Scarlett Johansson and funny man Russell Brand will attend the 2011 Oscars as presenters. Johansson, who appeared in last year’s hit “Iron Man 2” and is currently filming Cameron Crowe’s upcoming “We Bought a Zoo,” has recently been the focus of the media attention due to her divorce from actor Ryan Reynolds. Meanwhile, Brand, who wed singer Katy Perry last year and stars in the upcoming “Arthur” reboot with Helen Mirren, tried out his own style of edgy comedy during his hosting stint on the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009 and just this month on “Saturday Night Live.” This will mark the first Oscar appearance for the “Get Him to the Greek” star, who joked on his Twitter page Tuesday, “I am presenting an Oscar. I shall also choose the recipient. At last my work as Aldous Snow will be honoured, for best actor-ing.” Brand and Johansson will join fellow A-list presenters Sandra Bullock (last year’s Best Actress recipient will hand out this year’s Best Actor trophy), Jeff Bridges (2010 Best Actor winner to hand out the Best Actress award), Oprah Winfrey, Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Robert Downey Jr., Hugh Jackman, Reese Witherspoon, Cate Blanchett and Marisa Tomei, as well as two of this year’s Best Actress nominees, Nicole Kidman and Annette Bening. The Academy Awards, which will be co-hosted by James Franco and Anne Hathaway, will air live from the Kodiak Theater in Hollywood at 8 p.m. ET Sunday on ABC. ‘She’s god! This little monster loves her mommy!’ one fan told MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga performs at Madison Square Garden on Sunday Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage On Monday night, Lady Gaga’s little monsters put on their best Gaga as they headed to Madison Square Garden for Mother Monster ‘s latest stop at the famed New York City venue, where she was making her first of two appearances. The fans were not only treated to her Monster Ball, but also got the chance to see Gaga’s new single “Born This Way” live and be part of Gaga history as she taped the concert for an upcoming HBO special . So, what stood out most? “When she gave her little speech about never letting someone tell you can’t get a Grammy [or] you can’t get an HBO special,” Gaga fan Leanna told MTV News outside the show, moments after Gaga wrapped up. “I cried because it was just so meaningful … it’s like no one can tell me no.” Fellow fan Carey noted that Gaga is always thinking of her fans when she puts on her two-hour-plus spectacle. “I always feel like it’s catered to her customers and her fans,” he excitedly shared. “Go little monsters!” Casey noted that being in the room as Gaga performed “Born This Way” was awe-inspiring. “I mean, it’s her hometown and she just reenacted the Grammy performance,” she said. “It’s f—in’ beautiful.” It seemed that particular song really resonated with the fans who came out to see Gaga. “My favorite was the last song, ‘Born This Way.’ To me, it’s a great anthem for kids today, or anyone for that matter,” Gaga fan Tony said. Evie and her pal Cecelia also loved the finale. “I loved ‘Born This Way’ at the end,” Evie said. “It was perfect. It was the perfect ending.” And two of Gaga’s New York fans summed it up this way: “She is our religion,” Danielle proclaimed. Her pal Joey agreed, adding, “She’s god! Lady Gaga Brings Monster Ball Home To New York

Madison Square Garden performance recorded for HBO special. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga performs at Madison Square Garden on Monday Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage NEW YORK — Lady Gaga took her Monster Ball home Monday night, hitting the Madison Square Garden stage for not only the second show of this leg of her tour, but also the first of two tapings for her forthcoming HBO special. Check out photos from Lady Gaga’s New York City show. After a rousing set from the Scissor Sisters, the arena’s lights dimmed and the crowd went crazy as the chugging beat of “Dance in the Dark” played, counting down Mother Monster’s entrance. “New York City, did you guys come to party tonight?” she asked as she appeared. “The Monster Ball will set you free.” In a sheer dress and nun’s habit, Gaga performed “Love Game.” “My name is Lady Gaga, and I was born and raised in the unbreakable streets of New York City,” she proclaimed. “Thank you so much. Tonight, I want you to forget all of your insecurities because I didn’t used to be brave but you have made me brave, little monsters.” She then kicked it old school with “Boys Boys Boys.” “Are we gonna get divided now if I put this on?” she asked before pulling on a Yankees cap. After a quick chat with a fan, she went right into “Telephone,” without an appearance from Beyonc
