Glory Johnson Pregnant With Twins It’s a “double double” for Glory Johnson. The former WNBA baller took to Instagram to reveal that the fetus she’s carrying that was “fathered” by now ex-wife Brittney Griner , is actually a set of twins. Even though Brittney still claims no ties whatsoever to the two babies on the way, as Glory previously revealed in a formal statement, her ex-wife knew fully well what they were getting into when they went into fertility treatments : “At no stage was Brittney pressured to undertake the fertility process,” Johnson’s statement said, in opposition to Griner’s claim that she did not know how long Johnson had been pregnant. “In fact, throughout the entire process, Brittney was a willing participant, consenting and signing all the necessary documents that needed to be signed in order to move forward with the treatments.” Well at least Glory is still in good spirits about motherhood. Wonder what she’ll name these two… Instagram
North Carolina Teacher Resigns After Reading Gay Book To Class Omar Currie and Meg Goodhand, respectively a teacher and vice principal of Efland-Cheeks Elementary School, have resigned over controversy surrounding a gay fairy tale that Currie read to third graders . Via The Grio : Currie read “King & King,” a story in which two princes fall in love and get married, after one of his students was called “gay” in a derogatory manner and was told that he was acting too much like a girl. Although the book had been upheld by a school review committee, Principal Kiley Brown told Currie that parents must receive a list of all books read, and that’s when things went downhill. Parent Brandy Davis and two other people filed formal complaints about the book, and Davis went on to appeal the ruling by the school review committee concerning the book. “I’m just disappointed,” Currie said on Monday. He also said that he would prepare remarks but was unsure if he would even speak. Currie has had five job interviews, all positive, including a few interviews for positions in Durham Public Schools. “It’s nice to be told by administrators that my actions were correct,” he said. “I still want to be very involved in the Efland community,” he continued, saying that he plans to be involved in tutoring and mentoring programs. Do you think the teacher should have resigned?

Glory Johnson Blindsided By Brittney Griner Ending Marriage Brittney Griner’s wife Glory says she was completely caught off guard by Brittney’s decision to file for annulment . Despite Brittney’s statement to the contrary, Glory says the two never discussed a split, and this is coming out of nowhere for her. Via TMZ : Glory Johnson says she was “blindsided” by Brittney Griner’s decision to file for an annulment today — telling TMZ Sports she’s “extremely hurt” by Brittney’s actions. We spoke with Johnson’s sports marketing agent, D.J. Fisher, who tells us “Glory was unaware of the filing and still loves and cares for Brittney.” TMZ Sports broke the story … Griner filed the court docs Friday — saying Johnson essentially threatened her into getting married … and claims the whole thing was a fraud. Griner issued a statement saying, “Last Wednesday, Glory and I agreed to either legally separate, get divorced, or annul our marriage. In the week prior to the wedding, I attempted to postpone the wedding several times until I completed counseling, but I still went through with it. I now realize that was a mistake.” But Johnson’s camp says Brittney’s full of crap — saying they NEVER agreed to annul the marriage. Johnson’s rep adds, “Glory loves Brittney and made a huge sacrifice to carry a child, put her career on hold, to invest in their relationship and their future. As a result she won’t be playing this season.” “Glory wouldn’t intentionally do anything to hurt Brittney and has tried her best to protect her and their marriage. Obviously this marriage was about them starting their life together. Glory is the sweetest thing in the world and she was dedicated to their partnership.” “She knows how important marriage is and made a lifetime commitment and decision to spend the rest of her life with Brittney.” This relationship was already pretty messy . Looks like the split will be no different…

North Carolina Reads Book About Gay Kings To Class After Student Is Bullied A North Carolina teacher is drawing both praise and criticism for the way he handled a bullying situation with one of his students. Via HuffPo : Omar Currie, 25, teaches third grade at Efland-Cheeks Elementary School in Efland, North Carolina. Three weeks ago, Currie overheard some of his students calling one of their male classmates “gay” and “a woman.” Instead of sending the bullies to the principal’s office, Currie took a different approach: He read his class King & King, a children’s fable by Linda de Haan and Stern Nijland that features a same-sex romance. Currie, who identifies as gay, told The Huffington Post that he wanted to have an honest conversation with his students — whom he affectionately refers to as his “kids” — on how to treat people who may seem different. “There was a group of boys that had been referring to the child as a girl or a woman, saying ‘OK, woman,’ or ‘OK, girl,’” Currie told HuffPost. He stepped in and addressed the issue, he said, but then it happened again. “This particular child who was being bullied was very, very upset.” The following day, Currie read his class King & King, a picture book whose main character, a prince, must find a suitor to marry. After meeting with a succession of princesses and feeling no spark, the prince eventually falls in love with another prince. The two wed, becoming kings together, and the book ends with the two kings kissing. Currie said he knows all too well the pains of being bullied at school. He said the classroom should be a safe environment for all children. “Every single day in middle school I was called a fa**ot,” he said. “I was called that in front of teachers and no one ever stopped to address the problem. It gave me an understanding that it must be fixed immediately when it happens.” The school board committee ultimately determined that the book would not be banned, but that in the future, teachers must inform parents about every book they plan to read for their class. Currie said he disagrees with the latter decision, but appreciates the love and support he has received. Do you think the teacher should have read the book to the class?
Pastor Accused Of Killing Wife To Have Gay Affairs Before she was killed in 2013, Karen Shahan sent an email saying she knew of her pastor husband’s sexual preferences and his attempts to carry on affairs with two men outside of Alabama, according to prosecutors. Via AL reports: Richard Shahan, formerly a pastor in Homewood, was charged last January in connection with his wife’s murder. He is set to appear in court for a pretrial hearing Thursday morning before Jefferson County Circuit Judge Laura Petro. In a document filed Wednesday, prosecutors responded to a request from Shahan’s attorneys, Wendell Sheffield and John Lentine, seeking specific facts necessary to prepare the defense. Witnesses, numerous emails and statements from Shahan himself demonstrate that he was involved in romantic relationships with a man in Nashville and another in Europe, Deputy District Attorney Patrick Lamb wrote. In an email sent to an unidentified recipient in February 2012, Karen Shahan wrote that she told Richard that he had to choose between the two lives he was trying to maintain, according to the prosecution’s filing. “I told him that he cannot keep both lives. That he will have to lose one of them. I said that if he was having any interactions that were not right before God that he should go to God and be completely honest with him because he knows anyway. I told him that God will reveal it to me. I told him that any texting or gmailing that does not bring glory to God has to go…” Karen Louise Shahan’s body was discovered about 11:15 a.m. July 23, 2013, inside the family’s Hugh Circle home. She was stabbed to death and had several small defensive wounds, according to court filings. In the document filed Wednesday, prosecutors say that email and text message conversations between Richard Shahan and his two “paramours” include explicit sexual statements, as well as a reference to Karen’s death: “I’m in a legal marriage contract [sic]. There is not an acceptable way for me to dissolve that and continue with the things that are important to me (my job and children)…There is only one way I could become legally ‘single’ and I have to wait until God grants me that gift. It will come; the woman I live with is slowly killing herself – she is diabetic and refuses to take care of herself physically. Her mother died early with the same disease and did the same thing to her body. So I pray and wait. It will happen in God’s timing.” The filing states that Shahan also wrote emails noting that, because of his job, his sexual preference had to be kept secret and he could not get divorced. In a November 2011 message to his European paramour, Shahan mentions his hopes for the future. You going to jail today!
Blackbird Director Calls Out Homophobic Black Actors “Blackbird” director Patrik Polk and star Isaiah Washington stopped by Sway in the Morning to chat about the movie, when the topic turned to Black actors and some of their reluctance to play homosexual characters on screen. Jump to the 2:35 mark to hear why Patrik calls out Shemar Moore, Gary Dourdan, Michael Jai White, and in particular Allen Payne, for refusing to star in one of his films out of fear of an on-screen kiss. Patrik also points out studies that show how the men who are most hateful of homosexuality and rail against gay men the hardest are typically the ones harboring some hidden feelings they aren’t quite comfortable with… YouTube
