Kate Middleton Gives Birth to Royal Baby: It’s a BOY!

The royal baby is here! The royal baby is here! After many weeks of keeping the masses waiting on pins and needles and keeping us guessing as to her due date, Kate Middleton has given birth. She and Prince William have welcomed a baby boy! A royal aide just announced the joyful news moments ago with a proclamation signed by the doctors who delivered the little HRH Prince of Cambridge! Well, not SO little. His weight (8 pounds, 6 ounces) and the time of its birth (4:24 p.m.) were confirmed, along with the gender, via press release. An official gun salute in London’s Hyde Park is expected shortly, and the bells of St Paul’s Cathedral are already ringing in honor of the future King. Ever since Kate went into labor early Monday morning, Royal Baby Watch 2013 reached a fever pitch outside London’s St. Mary’s Hospital and worldwide. Now that it’s over, it’s finally cause for celebration. Kate Middleton and Prince William did not find out the gender beforehand, setting off a national guessing game (and online betting frenzy) for months. They kept all facets of her pregnancy as private and low-key as possible. When Kate and William did finally arrive at the hospital this morning, they did it their way, with no fanfare, no sirens and not even a police escort. Just a dark Range Rover and a shiny new Audi nosing their way calmly through the traffic-free streets of London after dawn, cagily evading the media. William has been by his wife’s side all week as they moved from Kate’s parents house to Kensington Palace, just a mile from the hospital, last weekend. Queen Elizabeth II now has three living heirs: Prince Charles, her eldest son, William, his eldest son, and the first-born son of William and Kate. And, Her Majesty gets to go on holiday without missing this now. Phew! Charles said: “Both my wife and I are overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild. It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine.” “We are so thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy,” he adds. “We are eagerly looking forward to seeing the baby in the near future.” The official confirmation notice says very little, only that Kate was “safely delivered of a son” and she and the baby are doing well. Check it out: The succession rules were recently changed so that for the first time ever, Will and Kate’s first baby would become the heir(ess), regardless of gender. That was cool, but in the end, the traditionalists got their wish. Our heartfelt congratulations to Kate, William, their families and everyone in the UK on the most celebrated moment since Andy Murray won Wimbledon ! Just kidding. Although that was pretty cool to see, too. It is now hoped that the boy’s name might be announced as soon as tomorrow. Fawk A Dumb Thug: Brooklyn Man Sentenced To 25-To-Life After Bragging “Ville Up Hoe!” On Facebook After Murking HS Hoops Star

This guy deserves to rot in a cell. The family of young woman who was a promising Harlem HS hoops star is finally seeing some justice for her murder two years ago. Via NY Post reports : A young thug was sent silent and sullen to prison today for the random Harlem murder of high school basketball star Tayshana “Chicken” Murphy — instead, his vile Facebook posting from an hour after the shooting spoke for him. “Ville up hoe,” Tyshawn Brockington, 23, had snarled online, a reference to Manhattanville Houses, which was at war with Murphy’s Grant Houses, leaving her as a bloody, innocent casualty in her building’s fourth floor stairwell two years ago. By “Ville up,” the killer had meant that in Murphy’s death, Manhattanville had just notched a one-up victory in the two projects’ senseless war, prosecutors explained. And “Hoe” was the killer’s final blow to the stranger who was his victim — again senseless given her undisputed virtues as a sister, daughter, friend and athlete. “Killing her was not enough,” prosecutor Jeffrey Levinson said of Brockington at the emotional Manhattan Supreme Court sentencing. “He has to call her a pr0stitute, or a sl*t, or a wh*re.” The judge, too, decried Brockington’s Facebook posting before giving him a 25-to-life sentence, the maximum allowed. “Certainly the vile comment – “Ville up hoe” — made an hour later, showed some kind of abhorrent pride in what he had accomplished,” said Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Thomas Farber. Four rows of the fallen basketball stars’ family members, friends and coaches attended the emotional sentencing. “You took her breath,” mom Tephanie Holston said in a victim impact statement, her voice dignified but quavering as she faced her daughter’s murderer. “She wasn’t yours.” Murphy, a senior at Murry Bergtraum High School, had been considered one of the country’s top female point guards. Her dream was to make it big — by shattering the gender barrier in the NBA, the prosecutor said. “She set her sights on playing with the NBA with the men… and she made the promise that once she got there, she was going to bring everybody with her,” he said. Watching the trial had been painful, said the judge. “This is about young people killing other young people. And this is really really tragic to me,” he said. “Sitting through the trial, and watching the videos and thinking about these two housing projects … What could that be,” he said of the bloody rivalries between the two projects, “other than some desire to create a sense of self worth by creating a sense of otherness against people who should be your brothers and sisters. “That to me is incredibly tragic,” he added. “Those bullets ended your life in a significant way as well,” judge told the perp. “I try never to sentence out of vengeance,” he said. “We’re desperately in need of kinship rather than otherness. But I can’t impose in in a case like this any sentence other than the maximum sentence.” Two lives have been effectively lost to gun violence: an 18-year-old girl who died far too young, and a 23-year-old man, who could spend the rest of his life in prison for her murder,” said Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance, Jr., in a written statement issued after the sentencing. “My office will continue to work with communities across Manhattan to put an end to the gang and gun violence that was one of the contributing factors to Ms. Murphy’s untimely death.” SMH. Stop the violence! When you’re young it’s easy to get caught up in gang and turf BS but that ish truly ain’t what life is about. Now this dummy will be spending the rest of his life in jail and this family is without a loved one. Continue reading

For Your Information: Al Sharpton Says Supreme Court Striking Down Voting Rights Act “Cancels Part Of Martin Luther King’s Dream”

It might sound dramatic, but Rev. Al is speaking on the real. Via HuffingtonPost MSNBC was the first cable news network to turn to the news of the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Voting Rights Act on Tuesday. Both MSNBC and NBC simultaneously aired legal correspondent Pete Williams’ take on the case. Williams said that the Court had struck down a “key part” of the Act by ruling that one of its sections was unconstitutional. “It’s a huge defeat for the civil rights community on the most important civil rights law ever passed,” he said. That view was echoed across other networks. ABC’s Terry Moran, for instance, said that “right now, there is no Voting Rights Act operative in the United States.” Speaking on MSNBC, Al Sharpton called the news “devastating.” Later, he said the Court had “revoked” and “canceled” part of Martin Luther King’s “dream.” For those that are unaware of what the Voting Rights Act is, take a few minutes to soak up the game. Via HuffingtonPost The Supreme Court struck down Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act on Tuesday, the provision of the landmark civil rights law that designates which parts of the country must have changes to their voting laws cleared by the federal government or in federal court. The 5-4 ruling, authored by Chief Justice John Roberts and joined by Justices Antonin Scalia, Anthony Kennedy, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, ruled in Shelby County v. Holder that “things have changed dramatically” in the South in the nearly 50 years since the Voting Rights Act was signed in 1965. The court’s opinion said it did not strike down the act of Congress “lightly,” and said it “took care to avoid ruling on the constitutionality of the Voting Rights Act” in a separate case back in 2009. “Congress could have updated the coverage formula at that time, but did not do so. Its failure to act leaves us today with no choice but to declare [Section 4] unconstitutional. The formula in that section can no longer be used as a basis for subjecting jurisdictions to preclearance.” The Voting Rights Act has recently been used to block a voter ID law in Texas and delay the implementation of another in South Carolina. Both states are no longer subject to the preclearance requirement because of the court’s ruling on Tuesday. “Our country has changed, and while any racial discrimination in voting is too much, Congress must ensure that the legislation it passes to remedy that problem speaks to current conditions,” Roberts wrote. “There is no doubt that these improvements are in large part because of the Voting Rights Act,” he wrote. “The Act has proved immensely successful at redressing racial discrimination and integrating the voting process.” Clearly, not everyone agrees… Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg issued a wide-ranging dissent on behalf of herself and Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan, justifying the continued vitality of the Voting Rights Act’s preclearance provision. “The sad irony of today’s decision lies in its utter failure to grasp why the VRA has proven effective,” Ginsburg wrote. “The Court appears to believe that the VRA’s success in eliminating the specific devices extant in 1965 means that preclearance is no longer needed.” The court did not rule on Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act, the preclearance requirement itself, which requires those affected states to have changes to their voting laws cleared by the Justice Department or a federal court in Washington, D.C., before they go into effect. Rather, the court ruled that the current formula that determines which states are covered by Section 5 is unconstitutional, effectively eliminating Section 5 enforcement, at least for the time being. “In the Court’s view, the very success of §5 of the Voting Rights Act demands its dormancy,” Ginsburg wrote. She said in her bench statement that in renewing Section 5 in 2006, Congress “found that 40 years has not been a sufficient amount of time to eliminate the vestiges of discrimination following nearly 100 years of disregard for the 15th Amendment.” In summary, this means that changes in states’ voting laws no longer need review on the federal level. Which also means that if a state were to decide to make things harder for blacks and people of color to vote then there would no system in place to counter balance any foolery that might be afoot. We’re sure all the political talkin’ heads will be chirping about this issue all night. We suggest that you educate yourself on these laws and teach others how it will affect them. Random Ridiculousness: Woman Forced To Have Her Kitty Kat Examined To Prove She’s A Woman After Birth Certificate Mistakenly Labels Her A Man

This is just…phucked up. Woman Forced To Prove She’s Not A Man According to Mail Online A Georgia mother was asked to prove that she was a woman when she noticed that her birth certificate mistakenly identified her as a man. Nakia Grimes got a copy of her birth certificate when she was going through the process of getting her driver’s license renewed. She had never noticed, however, that the birth certificate had an X next to the male identifier. ‘You only look at the name, the date, and the year, and the month. You just really never look at the additional signatures and I’d never seen that,’ Ms Grimes told MyFoxAtlanta. ‘When I went to retrieve my birth certificate, I let them know that the gender portion was wrong. I’m a woman, I was born a woman.’ From there, the typo turned into an offensive proposition when a state worker told Ms Grimes that in order to have it changed, she would have to have a pap smear to prove she was actually a woman. Ms Grimes, who is turning 37 next week, was outraged and found the prospect of having to have her doctor examine her to determine her gender to be a humiliating one. The incident was reported to Vital Records Services, and the director said that there was no need for a pap smear. The unnamed director said that the order had not been part of standard protocol. Instead, they were able to cross-check Ms Grimes’ gender by looking at her son Zion’s birth certificate, where she is legally listed as the birth mother. If she was white would they make her go through this? Continue reading

Jesus Take The Wheel: Australia Adds ‘Intersex’ To Gender Guidelines – Options M , F Or X (Indeterminate/Intersex/Unspecified)

‘Intersex’ Added To Gender Guidelines In Australia So now one will be able to choose “male”, “female” or “intersex” … Via Raw Story: The Australian government has announced new guidelines on gender recognition which state that individuals should be given the option of selecting “male”, “female” or “intersex” on their personal documents. Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus said the new guidelines, which come into operation from July 1, will make it simpler for people to establish or change their sex or gender in personal records held by federal government departments and agencies. “We recognise individuals may identify, and be recognised within the community, as a gender other than the gender they were assigned at birth or during infancy, or as an indeterminate gender,” Dreyfus said in a statement Thursday. “This should be recognised and reflected in their personal records held by departments and agencies.” The move comes after the Australian Human Rights Commission in 2009 recommended the government consider developing national guidelines concerning the collection of sex and gender information. The new guidelines state that “where sex and/or gender information is collected and recorded in a personal record, individuals should be given the option to select M (male), F (female) or X (Indeterminate/Intersex/Unspecified)”. They state that sex reassignment surgery and/or hormone therapy are not pre-requisites for the recognition of a change of gender in Australian government records. Wow, so they don’t even have to have had the surgery or anything. Thoughts???

Pamela Anderson Ad Pulled in Great Britain, Deemed "Sexist, Degrading"

It is not a good day to be in the commercial business. First, this Swiffer ad was slammed for sexism. Then, these Happy Prostitute ads were pulled in Brazil. Now, Pamela Anderson has been deemed an insult to her gender in Great Britain… or at least a commercial that features the former Baywatch beauty. Pamela Anderson Ad: Sexist? The country’s Advertising Standards Authority stated in its ruling that the above ad for Dreamscape Networks includes a fantasy sequence that is far too offensive for the air. In a statement defending its prohibition, the ASA pointed to a bikini-clad Anderson and another model showing off their cleavage while dancing and being covered in cream. “Because of that, we considered the ad was likely to cause serious offence to some viewers on the basis that it was sexist and degrading to women.” Watch the spot and decide for yourself: Should the commercial have been yanked?   Yes, it has no business on the air! Question Of The Day: Ladies, Are You In The 43% Of Women Who Lie About Partners’ Sexual Performance??

Ruh-roh… A new book called The Normal Bar has gathered survey info from 100,000 people that responded to over 1 million different data inquiries that reveals what couples REALLY think of each other. Talk about tough love… Via Huffington Post Do you trust your partner? Only 39% of women in this study completely trust their partners, compared to 53% of men. What’s wrong with this picture? Why the gender difference, and why the low levels of trust in general? It may be that a lot of couples intuitively know or have learned by experience that their spouse or live-in partner has the potential to rove. Women in heterosexual relationships know the same thing that many studies have shown: that men are more interested in and titillated about sex outside the relationship, and that may account for a higher percentage of women who doubt their partner’s honesty and fidelity. On the other hand, nearly half of men suspect their partners, too. Both men and women believe that their partners will hide unpleasant truths, and that they may have to dig to find out what is really going on. Have you ever lied to your partner? Nearly three-quarters of our respondents (75% of men and 71% of women) said they lie to their partners to one degree or another. Only 27% of our respondents said they never ever lie. Does lying negatively affect the quality of your relationship? Probably not. Even among extremely happy couples, 69% of men and women said they’ve lied at some point to their partners. But the fact that very happy partners lie demands some further scrutiny. For most couples, some lying is necessary to keep the peace, to protect each other’s feelings, and to preserve a sense of safety in the relationship. The 27% who never lie may be righteous, but they can also be cruelly frank. Men and women who shade the truth may be more loving and protective. Even well-intentioned lies, however, can hurt the relationship if the truth that’s withheld is something the partner has every right and need to know. Do you lie about your partner’s sexual performance? Just as men are more likely to tell white lies about their partner’s appearance, women are more likely to flatter their partner’s sexual performance. We found that 43% of women lie about how they feel about their partner’s sexual performance, compared to just 28% of men. That’s probably not because women are better lovers but, rather, because they feel a greater need to protect their partner’s feelings. When a man feels insecure, he may have difficulty getting an stiff one, so it’s in his partner’s—as well as his—interest to boost his sexual self-esteem. The bad news here is that some honest communication has to take place; otherwise, nothing is likely to improve. As you might imagine, sexually dissatisfied men and women lie almost twice as much (50%) as sexually satisfied partners (27%). If you talk openly and honestly with your partner about what isn’t working, you’re much more likely to achieve sexual satisfaction than if you salve your partner’s sexual feelings at the expense of your own pleasure. Lying may cause fewer storms, but also fewer climaxes! Ladies, keep it 100…have you been lying to your “bae” about how he puts it down??? Image via Essence
