Stage and film veteran Ben Gazzara, whose career spanned five decades and included a stint directing television, has died at age 81 in New York. According to The New York Times , Gazzara succumbed to pancreatic cancer today in Manhattan, where he lived. Let’s bid a fond farewell to the Emmy-winning, Golden Globes-nominated Gazzara by remembering some of his most indelible work. After getting his start in the 1950s in television and on stage in productions like Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof in 1955, for which he originated the role of Brick. Film highlights include Otto Preminger’s Anatomy of a Murder (1959), although he may be best known for his collaborations with John Cassavetes ( Husbands , The Killing of a Chinese Bookie , Opening Night ) and later highlights in Road House , Buffalo ’66 , The Big Lebowski , and Todd Solondz’s Happiness . For me and many of my generation the Gazzara role I’ve rewatched a zillion times is his turn as Jackie Treehorn in The Big Lebowski ; Click here for the film’s memorable (but nonembeddable) Jackie Treehorn scene and let’s take a brief hopscotch through the actor’s filmography over the years.
James Franco. Hank Azaria. David Cross. Ron Livingston. It’s a broad range of actors who’ve been enlisted previously to play Beat icon Allen Ginsberg, none of them quite delivering the poet’s intellect and spirit opposite the, er, best minds of his generation. Now comes the news that Daniel Radcliffe will take a shot of his own at Ginsberg in director John Krokidas’s Kill Your Darlings . THR today followed up on news originally hinted at by MTV , confirming that the actor — who’s first post- Harry Potter role in The Woman in Black finally surfaces in theaters next month — will star opposite Elizabeth Olsen, Dane DeHaan and Jack Huston. Set in 1944, it revolves around a murder that “draws together the great poets of the beat generation: Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs.” Radcliffe originally hesitated to commit to the project, but is enthusiastic enough. “It’s one of the things that’s on the table absolutely,” he told MTV. “It would be amazing and I’m very, very enthused for that script and that young director. It’s an independent film, it’s welcome to the world of independent film — from one day to the next it could happen or not happen. Until I’m there on the set, I’m not going to say anything about it.” Too late! And here I thought Radcliffe would never wear glasses for a role again. Look for KYD in theaters in 2013, meaning a possible fall 2012 festival run. Developing… [ THR , MTV ] [Photo: Getty Images] Follow S.T. VanAirsdale on Twitter . Follow Movieline on Twitter .

Gossip Girl celebrated their 100th episode in what I can only imagine is their last season….because just 2 years ago, when this shit first hit, I heard eighteen year old girls everywhere I went, because like a hunter, I follow the herds to be near the prey, in a more perverted way than an actual hunter, with less blood unless they are virgins….but that’s not the point…the point is that they used to talk about this shit with excitement and joy, but I haven’t heard the shit mentioned in at least a year…there are no facebook statuses saying “OMG Gotta Watch Gossip Girl OMG”….it’s like no one cares about these cunts but they are throwing a party for the shit anyway and here are the sluts who were in attendence… Blake “the Birds Rerpesent Famous A-Lister Hands….She’s Deep Like That” Lively Leighton “not as Hot as Blake – always in her shadow – but still better off than when she was in fetis videos” Meester…….. Nan “No On’e Ever Heard Of But Should Cuz That Ass in a Tight Dress Makes Me Want to Move to China” Zhang
Her name is Gillian Zinser. She’s some nobody and her biggest accomplishment in her career was that she went from guest appearance on 90210 the Next Generation to being a fulltime cast member something most people would be humilated about…you know if they were serious actors…but instead are just bottom feeding trash who belong on shows like Jersey Shore or The Hills…so this is a nice opportunity cuz it keeps them out of turning to porn…even though the face that 90210 The Next Generation exists is a fucking mystery to everyone with half a brain….. The good news is that they are already into their third season, which means they will run out of ideas soon and it will be pulled, but in the meantime, here is this bitch in some leather pants, not being as erotic as you’d think leather pants would be, I guess because you’re not there to smell the smells unbreathable fabrics produce….. Who cares.
Drake has been all over the Internet today thanks to Take Care springing a leak overnight, but he has a few choice words for you Tweeters and Tumblrs out there. Here’s an outtake from his cover story with The Source that went up online today: “I’m really scared for my generation, you know. The thing that scares me most is Tumblr. I hate what Tumblr has become. Because it like, it reminds me of those clique-y girls in high school that used to make fun of everyone else and define what was cool, but in five years, when you all graduate, that sh*t doesn’t matter. No one gives a f*ck about that sh*t. Instead of kids going out and making their own moments, they’re just taking these images and living vicariously through other people’s moments. It just kills me. Then you’ll meet them and they’re just the biggest turkey in the world. They don’t actually embody any of those things. They just emulate. It’s scary man, simulation life that we’re living. It scares me.” As far as Twitter, Drake remembers the day checking his mentions didn’t bring him the usual accolades: “I’ll tell you, my biggest thing was, I remember, it was on twitter. I remember the day my mom was getting surgery and someone came on Twitter and they were like, ‘Yo, Drake, I hope your mom dies.’ You don’t really mean that.” …Like, you know you’re going to see something bad. Out of 1000 compliments, it’s so crazy. It’s basically, like, when you used to sit there as a kid, and want to know what everyone is thinking. That’s your superpower. [Twitter is] knowing what everyone is thinking.” Damn, tell em how you really feel, Drizzy? If he hates Twitter and Tumblr, then he’ll hate the tweets that started piling in right after people started listening to Take Care and the #TakeCareComesWith trending topic started taking off.Almost everyone began making fun of the album for how it was softer than wet Charmin with all those harmonies and emotions. The results were hilarious. Take a look.
I saw a movie called Doom Generation when I used to rent movies based on the nudity rating….and that movie did more than provide me jerk off material for what is alost two decades…but more importantly…introduced me to some of the hottest, full, nicely hanging breasts in Hollywood…. I never hate on Rose McGowan or her aging process, I just appreciate that she’s still fit and more importantly, that she still has great tit… I don’t know what these pics are of, but as creepy as the paparazzi who took them, I’m posting them for all you weirdos who jerk off to girls walking down streets in dresses…
MTV embeds in Zuccotti Park to get real story in ‘True Life: I’m Occupying Wall Street’ airing November 5 at 6 p.m. ET. By Gil Kaufman Bryan in “True Life: I’m Occupying Wall Street” Photo: MTV News It’s one thing to watch footage of the Occupy Wall Street protests on TV and hear the nightly news pundits give their two cents on the global movement. But what if you could live among the protesters for weeks at a time and get a real sense of how the Occupy movement is taking shape and why it’s become a phenomenon? MTV did just that, embedding with the protesters for an upcoming “True Life” special set to air Saturday, November 5, at 6 p.m. ET. “True Life: I’m Occupying Wall Street” will visit the financial district sit-in and profile a group of 20somethings who’ve pitched their tents amid the skyscrapers of Wall Street to see how they’re feeling about the event. The special episode will take you to the front lines as MTV cameras follow four young people who get swept up in the political movement that has quickly grown into a global phenomenon. Viewers will be introduced to Bryan, one of the leaders of the Occupy sanitation team. You’ll watch as he steels himself against a potential fight with the city when he fears that their request to clean the park is an excuse to evict the protesters. “This needs to happen now, or it’s over,” Bryan is seen telling his fellow protesters about cleaning up the park before the city’s mandatory deadline, which helps motivate them to collect trash, sweep up and scrub graffiti from the ground with hand-held brushes. “As worried as I was,” he says, “it was amazing to see that as it really came down to the wire, people were willing to just do whatever it took to get the park clean.” The protests come at a time when the future seems grim not just for the millions who’ve been out of work and looking for jobs for several years, but for a younger generation that is just entering their prime earning years. In fact, 72 percent of young people surveyed by MTV over the past two years are afraid they won’t live up to their potential, with nearly three-quarters of those age 18 to 29 feeling “things are unfair for my generation because we have to start our careers during this economic crisis.” They’ve found that the game has changed and the old equation for success that promised that college plus extracurriculars, summer internships and huge student loans would lead to a fulfilling job that helps pay off those loans — just doesn’t compute. Many feel as if the rules have been altered on them and that they’ve been cheated. David Banner , Tom Morello , Kanye West and Talib Kweli have also joined the Occupy Wall Street protesters throughout their monthlong demonstration. The problem for young protesters like Bryan is who do they turn to? Their parents, the government? Many believe it no longer matters who’s in charge in Washington because none of those big money politicians has any answers. That might be why this group sees Occupy as a kind of war their generation must wage, one that might not end soon, but which they support because it allows them to speak out against corporate America and voice the concerns they have about not being able to find work. That also explains why nearly half (45 percent) have postponed a major life milestone (marriage, having children) because of the economy or their employment situation. Click through to “Voices From Occupy Wall Street” — our interactive photo gallery — and get to know 20 young demonstrators’ motivations, hopes and goals. A recent MTV survey of young adults (ages 18 to 29) about economic conditions, the government and its impact on their generation found that 93 percent feel that the current economic situation is having a personal effect on them; 72 percent don’t trust the government to take care of their well-being. A whopping 76 percent said they’re worried about the future of our country. And they’re not just fretting about themselves. More than 62 percent said they feared for their parents’ ability to retire in this economy and 66 percent said they wish there was some leader, outside of a political one, who could speak to their generation’s needs. “I feel stressed out about it,” 18-year-old Adalee recently told MTV News. “As a [Hispanic] college student relying on financial aid to get through school … and with all the budget cuts, it’s a stressful situation … But if the economic crisis worsens or is not resolved soon, it won’t matter how much financial aid we get, more than likely it won’t be enough to cover tuition.” The nation has watched this anxiety amplified by Occupy demonstrations across the country, as a small gathering of activists in Zuccotti Park in lower Manhattan has spread across the globe spanning hundreds of cities. When it came to those MTV surveyed, among the 69 percent who said they were aware of the Occupy protests, 57 percent supported the movement. “True Life” viewers will also meet college students Kait and Caitlin, who are so worried that they won’t be able to find jobs after graduation that they set out to recruit their friends to join the cause as they work to keep spirits high among the occupants. The episode will also spotlight Jen, an experienced protestor who struggles to strike a balance between organizing a successful anti-Afghanistan war demonstration and keeping her job as a paralegal. What do you think about the Occupy Wall Street movement? Let us know in the comments.
